If there is an engineered plague in play naming elves and I put a tribal forcemage into play face down and then morph it would the ability still take effect?
If I have a Darksteel Citadel and Lotus Petal in play can I declare affinity for 2 then tap the Citadel and sacrifice the petal to add 2 mana to my mana pool so I can play Frogmite?
I think Gush could be reintroduced to the format as long as they errata it to say return basic Islands instead of any Islands. This should lessen its impact a bit.
The other cards mentioned by Doug are a bit too unpredictable for me to say they deserve to be unbanned. Definitely Frantic Search and Goblin Recruiter need to stay banned (what was he thinking??:o) from the format.
Could someone make a list of the most effective hate available against this deck based on experience? It would be nice to be aware of what can hurt Affinity the most. We might even figure out a way around these cards.
If you notice they are all common cards hence the nickname "$5 deck". Play it for casual occassions or bring it to tournaments to annoy those with $$$ decks its up to you. Having fun is the most important part, cheers!
This is the deck I would run. It has a more stable mana curve especially with the addition of 2 basic plains as most of your spells are white. The 4 petals work wonders for you have such a diverse need for mana and it gives you an edge on tempo by allowing you to drop 2 critters first turn or a bob for card advantage. Its synergy with bob is great and it helps pump your goyf too.
I would rather play duress than toughtseize due to the lack of any life gaining ability in the deck. Bob and the sac lands already hurt you more than enough. For now the 2 Man-o'-war are just temporary substitutes for the grunt cus I dont have anything else in mind yet but it does seem to be useful.
The sideboard is quite standard and really depends on the meta in your area.
When you play False Cure and your opponent is about to gain life does the opponent actually gain the life then afterwards lose double the amount? Example if I play Invigorate using the alternative casting cost does he gain 3 life then afterwards lose 6?
If in case I also had a kavu predator in play would it gain the +1/+1 counters?
Just one follow up question here cus I ran into something similar to the Ghastly demise situation except it was with Incinerate and Tarmogoyf. There were 2 card types total in both graveyards (artifact and land) which made the goyf 2/3.
When I played the incinerate on the goyf my opponent said it was now 3/4 because the incinerate would hit the graveyard before the spell resolves, making it 3/4 because now there is an instant card type in a graveyard. Was he right?
1. If I play Extirpate and my opponents plays Misdirection and targets one of my cards in my graveyard, do I need to search for all the other copies of the card as well or can I simply just say I did not find the cards even though they are there?
2. If I play a Ghastly demise and have no cards in my graveyard, can I still kill a 1/1 nonblack critter when it resolves?

Hope this helps.
