If I have a Mad Auntie and two other 2/2 goblins in play, if my opponent casts Pyroclasm will my two 2/2 goblins die? Don't they live because the auntie gives them +1/+1?

I think running Night's whisper over Bob would be better. Let me explain.

The instant draw effect whisper has will net you 2 cards immediately rather than having to wait for your next upkeep for bob to get you 1 extra card. The loss of 2 life for 2 cards is better than getting 1 card and losing 2 life if your using bob anyway when you get a card like Stromgald crusader (judging from the fact that most cards are 2 cc in the deck).

Bob can also be easily killed off by anti creature spells and effects before he can go off. The only thing to fear will be if your whisper is countered, which at the same time can also happen to bob.

    Just my 2 cents.

Wow, first time I have ever heard of that card (Gates to Phyrexia) and I have been playing magic for years now! Nice one Dark Angel. Smile

Yep, artifact decks like affinity are definitely problems. Frown

I think we need artifacts that can remedy this (cus we don't want to splash another color here), does anyone know of any which can shut down or destroy the opponents artifacts without affecting the all important jitte in the deck??? Confused

How well does this deck do against tricks during first game before sideboards??

If I just cast a Keldon Marauders, how many attack turns do I have with this creature? Is it only 1 or 2 attack turns before I have to sacrifice it?

The thinning of deck aspect with fetchlands has been argued many times and in the end everyone found that it really does not help at all.

Also, in the event that someone counters the ability (stifle?) your gonna end up being really mana screwed because of low land count in the deck.

There is also a flaw with using the fetchlands AFTER your opponents upkeep when using the bauble on yourself during the first turn. Remember that 8 out of the 12 one casting cost burn spells you have are SORCERIES. If you do this during your first turn you will be giving your opponent a free time walk unless you have a lightning bolt in hand.

The bauble idea is the greatest improvement to burn I have heard to date. We just need to tweak the deck a little more and playtest to see the results.

I would actually suggest cutting out the fetchlands and instead running 2 Barbarian ring with 16 Mountains. The baubles will allow you to fill your gravyard very quickly.

Im also experimenting with 2 fork and 2 final fortune. The forks work well now because you can draw into a fireblast more easily with the baubles draw effect. I have noticed that magma jet works great with the baubles too, giving you the ability to draw up to the fourth card down from the top of your library if you want to.

Im also thinking that Shrapnel blast could also be viable due to the fact you have 8 artifacts in the deck already. You could complement it with artifact lands to make sure you will be able to cast it.

This new build needs more experimenting and testing.

That is why I only run 3 Flamebreaks in my build. I do believe its still useful against other weenie builds and rogue decks with beatdown critters.

IMHO Flamebreak is a much better choice over Flamerift. It costs 1 cc more but is a board cleanser that deals additional 3 damage to your opponent. When your faced with a growing army you need a reset button. You don't wana end up wasting your burn spells on his critters.

I don't think there is any worthwhile card in Coldsnap to add to burn :(.

I think that Urza's bauble would be one of the best choices to maindeck. It effectively makes your deck into 56 cards. There is also Mishras bauble coming out in Coldsnap and it costs the same thing except it just looks at the top of the library. I wonder if we could put in 4 of that and make it a 52 card deck....

Ok, from all the discussions I have read above and from the last thread it seems this is how the optimal deck will look like:

    LANDS:

    19-20 Mountains

    CREATURES:

    4 Mogg fanatic

    SPELLS:

    4 Lava spike
    4 Lighting bolt
    4 Chain lightning
    4 Incinerate
    4 Fireblast
    4 Magma jet
    3-4 Flamebreak
    3 Price of progress
    3 Browbeat

Now that leaves us with around 3-4 slots for something else in the main deck. I think this is the ingredient we should concentrate on finding for this burn deck.

What sideboard to play is totally a meta game call. Always know what decks are running rampant in your area and you will do fine with your sideboard. Some usual good cards worth considering are Anarchy, Pyrostatic pillar, Red elemental blast, Sulfuric vortex and Crash.

I also think that maybe including Slith firewalker in the sideboard might be a neat surprise. Most opponents will always side out their creature hatred cards for something else during sideboarding.
