Any know the reason why it has shifted to mono-green? Confused I might just go mono-green as well as Hierarch made my deck to expensive to finish when deathrite got banned and I already own all the cards needed to go mono-green anyway Grin

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say people were tired of ponying up upwards of half a grand for a barely competitive Modern deck, and wished to make budget decks such as this one tougher.

There still is a more expensive iteration of this deck, if one wishes to play it, the all black infect, however that deck isn't as prevalent, or as effective as this one, IMHO.

Someone asked me in the other thread how It went my quarterfinal match vs Pod that i won. honestly i dont remember, im playing a lot and matches just blur with each other. I will say that that the 2 dismember main are to help on that match and that im inclined to declare the matchup pod favored. But if its so is on the lines of 6-4 or 5.5-4.5 to pod so it´s winnable, and i may just got lucky i don´t remember.
The problem of the matchup is that he can go the GB plan and start removing everthing and then it becomes quite hard. But the deck is also filled with useless stuff vs you, mostly a lot of creatures you just do not care, you care about removal, spellkite and meliria, everthing else is quite irrelevant, so you can see how you can ¨easily¨ just draw better. How they sb also influence. If they bring on thoughtsize the matchup becomes more problematic. I do not only side in 4 dismember but 1 corrupter and 1 nature´s claim.

Yeah, against Melira/Pod decks, artifact hate becomes quite relevant. If you find yourself unable to overcome them in the primary duel, then I'm all for boarding in additional copies o' Oxidize and Claim.

In those cases, if they don't have a backup plan, following their infinite combo, you can even sideboard in additional artifact hate, white taking out pumps because if their entire strategy depends upon the infinite combo, if you take that away, you can deal the remainder of the poison counters without the aid of too many pumps. Especially since you'll be drawing into your artifact hate.

This is, of course easier said than done. In practice, it's still tough, as the Melira/Pod decks run the backup of having a veritable armada of tough critters, Tarmogoyf included.

Btw I will reverse the mamba change, it was more to ¨try it out¨ and at the end of the day, the fact it cost G is not worth it´s bonus. It has some good stuff , and in the righ tmetagame it may be better. Is better vs control decks that the game goes long probably better vs BG which is a bad matchup, but ultimately i prefer the consistency of colorless mana of necro.
Bottomline i will go back to 4 necropede but I think mambas should be an option we consider everytime we tune the deck for a tournament. It maybe even wrong what im doing and maybe having some mambas is the right call.

True, I used to run the Mamba in place of the Necropede as well, however found that I'd rather reserve my Forests for pumps and the Elves instead. The regen mechanic is definitely admirable, but I feel it's simply a tad bit too on the slow side for it to be relevant within the confines o' this deck.

Btw, removing 2 rancors for 2 extra dismember as enigma does is totally a very worth to consider option imo. I see more and more spellskite maindeck in everykind of deck (which is the reason im using 2 maindeck) but really it starting to get annoying and 4 dismember may be the right call.

Absolutely. If you find you really need the Rancor more than you need the Dismember, than you can always rectify that for your next game, but I find that Dismember answers more problems than Rancor, so I need to draw into it more. Besides, in the games where Rancor becomes relevant, the games are usually so long that I draw into it later on anyway.

Spellskite is rampant, however the fact that it's an artifact makes it a valid target for all of the artifact hate this deck runs, leaving Dismember for other, more valuable targets. (-=

Don't get me wrong, I can definitely see the appeal of Spree, it's just that I find Smash to fit better within the confines of this deck. If, however, I find myself folding to artifact~centric decks too often, I'll be certain to add Spree.

Sweet. Infect was actually the first deck I ever played in a Modern Tourney, and it's still my favorite deck to utilize in such instances. Below is the current deck I'm running, and it's performed to at least 2-2 in 2 separate 4 round LGS Tournies.

The reason I main~board the full complement of Dismembers is because I have no answer to the decks utilizing creatures, such as Melira, or Platinum Angel. If I can rid my opponents of those creatures, that leaves the path open for me to attempt to win ASAP.

This is also the cheapest build I could make, forgoing cards such as the Hierarch, and fetchlands. Unfortunately, money is definitely an impediment to me, so I had to pick the cheapest, and most competitive version of this deck I could find. I've found it to be an incredible glass canon. When it wins, it wins, by no later than T3.

I can understand that logic, to an extent. It's just that, the best way for me to view this deck is that it's not a normal MtG deck, playing by normal MtG rules. This is a deck which is required to draw and cast 7 burn spells (or less, if they play shock or fetch lands) before the opponent can kill it. Whenever you cast a spell that doesn't do 3 damage to an opponents face, you're basically giving them an extra turn or more to live until you draw another burn spell. Spending cards to buy yourself time, while dealing with an opponents artifacts is not very important, because you won't be doing anything else with your added time, other than drawing and casting additional face burn.

After your first hand, the only step that matters on your own turn would be your draw step, and it's wasted if it's not drawing into something that can provide burn to the face.

In addition, Spree is only 1 CMC if you're not planning on replicating, which, let's be honest, you would most likely be.

I forgot who it is that mentioned it, but after I advocated for Guttural Response, someone pointed out a better option.

Am I the only duelist who prefers Smash over Spree? I understand that Spree has the replicate mechanic, allowing you to wipe the board o' artifacts, however it's a sorcery speed, allowing your opponent to respond in kind. In addendum, I find that the additional burn to the face courtesy of Smash outweighs the benefit of replicate. In addendum, since Smash is instant speed, you can cast it at your opponents EOT, when they're tapped out with no recourse.

Also, I find that Smash has a wider range of applicable targets, as you can also side~board it in Vs. MeliraPod decks, to halt their primary strategy, while still burning to the facing.

I just find in a deck that plays so supremely reactively, it's better to board in instants Vs. sorceries, if it can be helped.

I'm currently running the mono-red version o' this deck.

Do we have any answers for T1 Leylines?

Thanks very much, gentlemen. I'll place the order for the Orb, as well as the Anger forthwith.

Damn. I didn't even consider all these extra options. Thanks, mate. I'll definitely look into the cage, as it hits so many different things. It's a very attractive sideboard option. I've yet to successfully utilize Tormod's Crypt, via my sideboard. However, that's more of a reflection of me, being a poor pilot rather than the cards own usefulness.

While the Cage costs 1 mana more, it does more things, so it's definitely justified. In the late stages of longer games, I find I have enough mana to spare, so its inclusion is a definite, viable option.

I've always been fond of the Needle, however it seems too slow/ not versatile enough to warrant inclusion in the mono~green, budget build of this deck. Especially when there are more attractive options, such as the cage. It certainly does fulfill a role, however.

I've seen the Relic in a lot of sideboards, and while it's a seemingly slower version of the Cage and the Crypt, it definitely merits consideration for inclusion as well.

The Orb sounds crazy good, and I definitely wish to fit it in, at the very least into my side~board. This will be my second inclusion, right after the Cage.

I like the idea of Spellskite, but for the build I'm running, I find it too slow/ not potent enough to run. I do despise running into it, though, which is another reason I began mainboarding the Dismembers.

You are absolutely correct, regarding Nature's Claim. I run 4 copies in my side~board, but wish to add additional artifact hate. To that end, Oxidize seems like a wonderful addition. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I've already ordered 4 copies of the card.

I've reworked my deck, to reflect the added artifact hate in the inclusion of Oxidize.

@MrEnigmas I have been maindecking 2 dismember (w/ 2 side) and they really help vs pod. I think I am 6-0 or 7-0 against melira/kiki pod (with a bit of luck obviously). Vs a platinum angel deck, I presume they were running urzatron, or at least had a bunch of artifacts? If so, I would consider running a card like nature's claim rather than dismember, as the card is more versatile against artifact based decks. Don't overboard vs urzatron, it should be a really good matchup, and you must have gotten unlucky.

Thanks for your advice, mate. I appreciate it. They were definitely running the urzatron combo, as well. I shall follow your advice, and not go overboard regarding sideboarding VS. the Angel. In addendum, I've been contemplating SBing either Scorn or Naturalize, for more artifact hate. I'd sub out my copies o' Guile and 1 Crypt, in order to fit in the added artifact hate. Let me know which, if either I should roll with. Personally, I prefer Naturalize, as it has a wider target range, and honestly, I couldn't care less about target life loss.

I'm also open to other suggestions, regarding artifact hate.

As far as the Mel/Pod games are concerned, I do admit that I wasn't on top o' my game, playing against them. I recklessly kept less than optimal hands, didn't swing for lethal when I could and generally played sh!!ty. I'll attempt to play smarter, next games and I'll definitely utilize the additional copies of 'Member.

Any thoughts on Response, as far as having a place in this deck? I feel it's valuable, and could be readily useful in many, many matchups.

In addendum, I apologize if I seemed too d!ck!$h in my dismissal of Defiance. Personally, I can see why it's such a terrific card, and in certain cases, I feel it could be included over the Lashes, due to lower cost/ greater reward. My exclusion of this card is not due to the cards quality, as a stand alone. It's more to do with my own, personal experience with the card, as well as its place in a budget, all green version of this deck.

I do believe it would be absolutely astronomically more useful in the multicolored, as well as non~budget iterations of the deck.

I hope that clarifies my stance on the card, further. (-=

What are the thoughts on either side-boarding or subbing in Anger of the Gods or Pyroclasm? I find the former has a place in the current meta of modern, as it seriously hits zoo and pod decks, basically neutralizing their "undying" trigger, due to the exile component.

Yeesh, I got wrecked at the tourney last night. Went 1 - 3. Lost to 2 Melira Pod decks. I wasn't able to deal with them prior to them casting Melira, which basically won them the first game, and eventually the match. The third match I lost was to a deck utilizing the Platinum Angel and Mindlsayer.

I've been contemplating mainboarding in the full complement of Dismembers in exchange for a pair of Lashes and Rancors.

I find out of all of the mainboard cards, those are the 2 which I use least. In addendum, if I can't win by T4 and the opponent can stall, via either the Angel or Melira then I've basically lost the game. So I definitely need answers to creatures. Which Dismember does nicely. Very nicely.

Does Vines give it protection from the opponents own spells? Or does it simply provide it with hexproof? For that is an important distinction, which I may have been mistaken about.

But yes, thanks for the great advice.
