So, with a little work, I made this in Magic Set Editor. Anyone have any comments? Feelings? At first, I kinda wondered about the border being so colorful, but it fits the idea that the card is colorless, but can be used by any of the colors. And yeah, I know the look of the casting cost sucks, and the artist paintbrush is missing. Still a work in progress. And does anyone think the ability belongs too strongly to any one color?
So, I've felt inspired tonight, and been playing around with Magic Set Editor, figuring out how to change it. One thing I've played with is how the keywords are formatted. May I ask why the letter 'n' is not permitted under so many of the keyword parameters? And for that matter, why is ',' not permitted in the action parameter? I've gone ahead and made a new parameter for my version of the Set Editor to allow these characters, but is there something I'm missing, a reason why they shouldn't be allowed?
Edit: Looking back through the thread, I found Twanvl explaining that particular problem, atleast with regard to the 'n'.
Also, I tried adding watermarks, with a little success. I managed to get it to show up as an option in the drop down menu, and even got it to add the image, but I was a little saddened to find out that in my editing the watermark in paintbrush, I ruined it so that it would no longer show the background of the textbox around the symbol. That is, in cases where the textbox has some color to it, my watermark had a large white area surrounding the mark. Could anyone tell me what program I should use to make properly functioning '.png' images? If I could find this out, I could add watermarks, mana symbols, or even things at the upper left corner like the tombstone symbol.
So, I have to reply. On one occassion at my former home, with my fiance, I was alone in our room one night while she was showering. We had a cat, who was not in the room at the time (the door was shut). I'll never forget the feeling, though, of a cat tail rubbing on my legs, when I knew there was no cat there. I didn't have the nerve to get up and look at my feet. And our first night there, I remember us being woke up by all sorts of strange sounds (grinding sounds and such), and the cat freaking out and hissing at something with his ears laid back, but we couldn't see anything. Needless to say, our first night was cut short. Things improved though, except for a few occassional instances.
Alrighty. Thanks. Guess its just too much. I will explain my reasoning behind the die instead of the coin though. When I was trying to capture the kind of random feel for this population fluctuation thing, the coin just wouldn't do it, because it only has two possibilities. The die has 6, just enough to give the random feeling, I think. See, the roll breaks down to these effects with the card:
1 - Tokens of chosen type triple.
2 - Tokens of chosen type double.
3 - No effect.
4 - Tokens of chosen type destroyed.
5 - Tokens of chosen type destroyed.
6 - Tokens of chosen type destroyed.
And yeah, like I'd said, this actually is the simplified version. The original was worse.
Choose a creature token controlled by target player, and roll a 6 sided die. The number of token creatures of that type controlled by that player changes to 4 minus the die roll, times X , all rounded up, where X is equal to the number of those creature tokens already controlled by that player. If creature tokens are lost, they are sent to the graveyard.
First off, is it too confusing? I've tried to simplify it down to make it easier to understand, while maintaining something resembling an actual population dynamics equation. I haven't specified how you choose which creature tokens to destroy if any are destroyed because if any are destroyed, all of that type are destroyed. That'll happen 50% of the time. About 17% of the time, the number of creatures will remain unchanged. About 17% of the time they will double; about 17% of the time they will triple. So, what about cost? As I see it, this can function to either generate creature tokens or as a removal spell, although its not guaranteed to function how you want it to. I know the randomness thing is kinda red, and the creature destruction aspect could be a color besides green, but I want to try to keep it mono green, because the effect is so green inspired. Any one have any thoughts? Oh yeah, and there's an extra space after the 'times X' in the middle of the text because if I leave the space out, Magic Set Editor turns it into a casting cost X instead of a text X. Anyone happen to know how to stop that without the space? And is the font okay on the enclosed card? I've been looking at it ever since I read something about having the wrong font, wondering if I've got the right font. I can't decide. Some letters look right, others don't. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hey. So, I recently downloaded Magic Set Editor 2, and have been playing around with it. For the most part, its great. But last night I tried to make a card with Morph, and when I typed keyword in like I had for everything else, such as flying or trample, it brought up the reminder text and all, but right after the word morph was <name> where I'm pretty sure the morph cost should go. But when I tried typing it in there, it didn't work. So, am I missing something here? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hey, I was just curious about something. After 'Planar Chaos', and 'Pop', what all set codenames do we know? That is, how far into the future do we know the codenames? Thanks in advance for any answers. Also, I hope I've posted this in the right place. It was this or the rumor mill, but the since it wasn't a rumor...
So I'm totally new to the idea of buying sleeves, so I've got a few questions if someone could help. I'm just a casual player, so the idea of dirt marks on the backs isn't terribly distressing to me. Marked cards just isn't a huge issue. But I am tired of watching my cards wear out. Especially tired of them getting these gradual bends in them.
So, I'm looking for sleeves that will help me prevent that. I was thinking, I've seen two kinds of sleeves. These flimsy ones, that you can fold in half without causing any permanent damage, and heavier ones that will break or get permanent creases if you were to bend them in half. I definetly would want the heavier ones, but I worry that if I buy sleeves, I'll open a package to find the flimsy kind. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
And what about carrying cases? I mean a good box for carrying several decks at a time. Anyone have any advice on this sort of thing? Thanks in advance.
Thank you both feuerdrache and Jason. I especially appreciate the cited rules passages. Allows me to look them up to see where they are in relation to everything else in the rules.
I've got a question that's not too complex. I just can't find the relevant rules in the comprehensive rules. If a player leaves the game, do spells he or she placed on the stack leave the game as well, or do they remain on the stack? Permanents they control or own leave the game, don't they? Or is it only permanents they own that leave the game, and if so, do permanents they control but do not own go in their owner's graveyard?
By the same token, if a permanent leaves play, do any abilities from it that are on the stack remain? I seem to remember reading an analogy at some point on magicthegathering.com about spells or abilities on the stack being like (or unlike) thrown hand grenades, but I can't remember the details, nor could I find any relevant threads while searching the forum.
I was also planning to ask about whether or not legendary enchantments could be tapped to use Honor-Worn Shaku's ability, but found an answer. So now I'm wondering if anyone knows what artifacts can be turned on and off by tapping and untapping them? The only one I could find in my search was Howling Mine.
Creature - Griffin
Flying, First strike
When Dusk Griffin blocks, all creatures blocked by it get -1/-1 until end of turn.
