Hey, there's room for me. I'll jump in. Slowly getting back into d20. Level 1, then?

edit: Leaning towards Druid//Scout or Ranger//Druid. Is that OP?

So, I discovered Microlite 20, aka "d20 Lite." I really wanna run a game with this. It's so simple and easy and elegant. Could be fun. I plan on printing out these and making those little booklets.

Documents here. Core Rules here. Who would want to check this out?

Skye reaches up and combs her fingers through her hair, looking at this stranger oddly. "Um... I don't know what you're talking about. One minute I'm playing a song on my flute and then going to bed for the night, the next I wake up in the middle of nowhere in a field talking to strangers... Where am I?"

Skye jumped when she saw the girl, biting her lip and looking at her. "Well... it's not what I expected either, I mean.. are you a real person? Or part of this dream?" She asked, curiously. "Maybe you're a figment of my imagination... you popped out of nowhere fast enough." She thought to herself aloud.

"Are you lost, like I am?"

Skye opened her eyes, and then blinked. She rubbed her eyes and looked around. What the hell? Was this still a dream? It had to be. She must be dreaming, though she's not entirely sure why she would be dreaming of a meadow. She pinched herself, and it definitely hurt. She bit her lip and thought about it, slowly realizing that she wasn't in Kansas anymore, dream or none. She slowly reached down to her flute and felt the cold metal. She clutched it and bit her lip, calling out.

    "Daddy?"

No reply, of course. "Hello?" She turned all around, then sighed. She can't just sit here the whole time. Might as well make this, whatever it is, interesting. She started walking in no particular direction, whistling to herself, wondering if she had sleepwalked far from her house.

Hey hey, sorry I haven't been around. Busy busy 2 weeks, what with an anime convention, flooding, finals week, and hunting for work. Plus my computer's power supply went kaput.

Caex, feel free to poke me to get the character built. I might forget.

Skye finished the song and blinked, looking at the flute. Her face was flushed and she was unexpectedly smiling. Had she just done that? She'd barely glanced at the music sheets and heard the song only a handful of times. But... really? Maybe she was tricking herself into believing it was true. What had happened to her? She wanted to try it again, but she saw the clock and slowly let out a sigh. Too late to try it now. She put it away slowly and climbed into bed. She found it hard to sleep, wondering what had possessed her. Some sort of innate talent? Was she really that good? Was it the song, or the flute? She had a lot of trouble finding sleep that night, but eventually she did.

The next morning, Skye was up bright and early and actually looking forward to going to school, if anything just to try playing the song again. As she dressed and got ready, she wondered if she could play it again for her teacher or classmates. That would blow them away! Well, maybe. Maybe she would be accused of cheating or witchcraft or something. She laughed a little to herself. Really? No. Either way she was itching to play again.

Skye was wondering more and more wild ideas about it. Trance? Hypnotism? Maybe some sort of weird spell. Maybe she lost her mind. Maybe that song is enchanting. Maybe she ate something bad. Maybe there were some bad spores in the air. Maybe her flute is magical.

She kept thinking and thinking, and then she saw the time. Almost ten, and her father didn't like her playing too late. She sat down and looked at the instrument, then sighed and shrugged.

"Why not," she whispered to herself and then put the flute to her lips, closing her eyes and playing again. Not trying to recapture that same trance, but just trying to clear her mind. One more time.

Skye got lost in the music, letting her mind go free as she played, until she entered a sort of trance, or zone, playing without thinking. Once she finished, she pulled away and looked at the flute in her hands. It was almost stuck there, her fingers firm and gripping it. She slowly peeled her fingers away and nearly dropped it. What was that? She never played like that before. She stood up and looked all around her, the sky getting darker. Evening was approaching. She plodded back home, getting hungry, though looking at the flute every now and then. Part of her didn't want to play any more tonight... but the other was curious as hell. She wanted to do it again.

Hey guys, long time and all that. Old guard checking in at last. I can't sleep really well.

I apologize for not posting earlier. I've had an extraordinary eight days. Starting mid-Thursday and going until late Sunday night, I was gone from home, down in Nashville for MTAC, the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention. I was part of the staff: I was Daidream's assistant in Command and Control, the nerve center of the con. We had the inventory, the lost and found, the hub for the radios, and we were in the meeting room where our con chair retreated for business. It was a lot of hard work, especially going back and forth between the Command and Control to the Staff Lounge on the other side of the hotel, but it was a lot of fun too! I got a lot of pictures (most of them on Daidream's camera) but there were a lot of guests, musicians, cosplayers, and fun to be had. I may go into more detail about it if anyone is interested.

I dunno if all of you are aware of what happened this past weekend in middle Tennessee, and in greater parts of the south. We were hit hard by several strong fronts of raining and potential tornadoes. Massive amounts of flooding all across the state. The Opryland area was under eight feet of water. Over 20 fatalities and hundreds of thousands in property damage. Even my hometown has been hit pretty hard and a lot of people are out of work.

Slightly good news though: Finals week is over and I'm entering summer. Bad news: I don't have rent for July and I need to make it through to August at the least. I need a job, bad. Really bad. I'll have to sell the rest of my magic cards if I can't. Sucky.

Over the course of the weekend during the convention I had to walk back and forth across a large hotel and stand for long periods of time. I had to carry a lot of heavy things, and my feet were injured by the time I finally got home (we got lucky, we found a clean pocket of weather to drive home in Sunday night). I strained my ankles, both of them, and my right foot's muscles are still swelling a little. I'm trying not to walk but I hate it. They're probably bruised badly. It sucks. But it was worth it. Daidream would not have survived it without me, and I would have died on the first day without her.

I apologize for not posting the second post, but I do agree with Mr. Stuff: We need to reorganize the first post and condense/clean it up a bit. I'm sure Danica can do that, she's good at that kind of stuff.

Anyway, I'm going to try and get some sleep and get this foot elevated some more. Stupid muscles. I know it's not torn, it'd hurt a hell of a lot more if it was. It's not twisted, either. I would not be able to walk on it. Both ankles are like this but the right one is more swollen. -sighs-

Anyways, I'm sure it'll be alright. I need to see about getting a doctor visit I suppose.

    Good night, Coffeehouse.

P.S. What's up with the thread title? Happy... what, four years?

She thought these over in her head, trying to empty it of everything else as she went outside and plodded through to the treeline, looking for a stump that she liked to sit on while back here. She found it and leaned back against it, her back resting against another tree that was growing right next to it. She closed her eyes and listened, slowly putting her instrument to her lips and playing it, her mind letting go of everything but the music.
