Mar 11, 2007strongbad56 posted a message on My Beating Heart: An UpdateI know it is probably impossible to accept, but still, it is possible that you have fallen for MJ because you need someone in your life, and Heather hasn't been there. I wonder, if you and Heather were close together, if you would feel this way about MJ.Posted in: Alacar's Design Zone
Again, this is just speculation as I'm trying to help you out. Maybe you truly are in love with MJ, I really have no way to tell, but I would just really think about it, and in the end, go with what feels right to you. Good luck, Ala :). -
Mar 11, 2007strongbad56 posted a message on My Beating Heart: An UpdateI feel for you, Alacar. I really do. I was just thinking about your problem, and I though that possible MJ is not a "true love", if you will, but a kind of "replacement" because you haven't been with Heather for a while, and then only shortly. I don't want to be rude or diminish what you feel, but I thought maybe that is the reason.Posted in: Alacar's Design Zone

That's okay, I don't expect to be very known by many people, at least not yet. Thanks anyway, Alacar, that's a really cool thing you did :).Posted in: Alacar's Design Zone

Oh, and what's the point of Long-Term Plans? Is it just there to find a Ledgewalker or Cowardice? -

Anyway, hi everyone. I don't know how many of you remember me, but I was a regular here, oh I don't know, like a year and a half ago? Well I just got an IM from Cecilia, and I figured I'd stop by and say hello to everyone. I know it's been a long time, but since I used to be so involved here, I thought people might want to hear how I'm doing or whatever.
So yeah, I just finished my first year at Carleton College, a small liberal arts school in Minnesota (and coincidentally the same school that Joyd, a former member, went to). It was a great year, and I made a ton of new friends and got a good education. My life has really changed, just based on my new friends and living situation. I've changed a lot as well, and I think I've come out of my shell a little socially and mentally. I still don't really know what I'm going to major in, but I'm leaning towards philosophy or religion, and maybe math. As far as extracurriculars, I took a year off cross-country and track, and I'm not sure I'll go back. I've gotten pretty into ultimate frisbee, and am considering trying out for the A or B team in the fall, both of which are really really good. If I don't make those, I want to find some group to join, because I regret not being part of a group my freshman year, other than my hall.
Unfortunately, I've completely stopped playing or following Magic, partly because I've just been too busy with college and other things in my life, and partly just because no one I know plays it. That's probably a big reason why I haven't been here at all, although I think it's mostly just because my life has changed so much. I am still really into baseball and the Yankees, and I've actually become a core member of a much smaller forum of Yankee fans. I don't post there as much as I used to post here, and I'm happy about that, because I don't think its a good idea to spend all your time on an online forum. Anyway, I'm glad I have a community there where I can talk about something I really enjoy with cool people, just like I did here before. It feels like so much longer than a year or two that I was a regular here, probably because I have changed so much since then. I don't regret the time I spent here, but I am happy that I've moved on. I am thankful for the friendships I formed here, and the community I was able to be part of during my tough high school years. Hopefully you are all doing well, especially Alacar, Omna, and Cecilia, the members I got to know best here.
So yeah, that's my life. I'll probably check back for a few days to see if anyone replies to this; if not, see you all until next time I randomly decide to check in.
Strongbad out.
In Minnesota, the Senate race between Franken and Coleman is super close. At one point last night, I looked and Franken was down 78 votes out of over 2 million, which is insane. Now I think he's down about 500, which is so close that they have to recount. I really hope he wins; he visited my campus last week and he was awesome.
Ugh, Boston.... But seriously, that's cool that you're doing well. Where are you going again? I have a friend at Tufts and a friend at Wellesley (which I think is all girls actually).
I'm feeling the same way. College life is so fun. My floor is so close, it's awesome. We pretty much do everything together, and all of them are so cool. The other night we spent like 3 hours just talking about really deep stuff in our lives, something that I've never really done before. It was such a cool experience, and probably one of my best nights so far this year. I feel like I already have better friends in college after 7 weeks than I did in high school after 4 years.
So for Halloween, I dressed up as Stuart from MadTV. If you don't know who he is, just look up "Stuart MadTV" on YouTube and he'll show up. It's the funniest skit ever. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures, but it was a pretty good costume.
Oh, and hi again everyone :).
Just got back from my first class!! Comparative Political Regimes...it seems like it's going to be really hard, but hopefully pretty interesting. I like that we're studying pretty modern governments rather than Stalin and Hitler and whatnot.
Multivariable Calculus next...yay math!!
Thanks, Alacar! Yeah, I can tell it's pretty slow around here. But it seems like we still have a lot of the old regulars posting often, although maybe some new ones wouldn't hurt either. I figure in college I have a lot more time to just sit around on the computer and stuff, so maybe I'll stay more active here than I have been at least.
So, about me, I just moved into college a few days ago at Carleton College in Minnesota, where Joyd just graduated from. It's pretty sweet so far, although it's pretty weird just being in a completely new place with completely new people. Still, I have an awesome room and dorm, and the weather isn't too bad (for now). Hopefully classes will be good when they start this Monday. I'm looking forward to when life gets kind of normal, unlike now when I'm busy going to freshman activities 24/7.
Anyway, it's nice to back here and I hope you guys are doing well. Hopefully I can stop in more often now.
Heres how I see it:
Wii: Cheap, fun party-style Nintento games, SSB Brawl (awesome)
360: Better graphics, more classic FPS and single-player games, GTA4 (also awesome)
By the way, I am biased because I only have the Wii, but I do love some 360 games, and my Wii games are starting to get a little old.
Well, I just graduated from high school a few days ago, so I'm finally free and on to my next stage in life at Carleton College. I'm so excited just to get out of the house and live without my parents finally. But yeah, summer is finally here, and things are good (although I still can't seem to find a summer job, but I'm still looking.)
Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the start of summer.
Well, I decided on college finally, and funny enough, I'm going to Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, the college that Joyd is about to graduate from. It was a really hard decision for me between that and Haverford (PA), but I'm super excited about Carleton, and I know it will be awesome, albeit uber-cold. So now that college is out of the way, all I have to do is finish all of my stupid IB tests, which are hell, but not super important, other than for getting college credits, and then I'm done.
So I see some new faces and a lot of old ones; how is everyone? I miss talking to you guys.
