If my opponent casts Surgical Extraction(/Slaughter Games/any card that lets him or her search my library), I can't lay my deck out on the table, right? Since it's still a hidden zone, my opponent should see the deck, but I shouldn't (I think, although I'm no rules expert.)
I'm not completely sure on this, and I just thought that it would probably be good to know.
Sometimes I play a 20th land and it is usually City of Brass. I have actually encountered a situation where winning at 1 life with a lethal city trigger on the stack was a real possibility, so I tend to use city even though most would argue for confluence.
At any rate, if you want a 20th land, 1 City/confluence is fine. The pain is manageable.
how? your spell doesn't resolve before the trigger
False. Tap City, float a mana, ability triggers, cast spell above City trigger on stack FTW.
Something that nobody has mentioned yet as far as I can tell: buying Affinity doesn't really give you any other Modern staples, so if you want to play multiple decks, BW Tokens is probably better.
Doesn't die to torpor orb or hushwing griff (for those who play it), and the combo creature can't be countered. Plus, who'd waste removal or a counter spell on a retreat in modern?
I like the deck a lot, and I think that if you play in the "aggressive landfall with a coincidental combo-kill" direction, that it's fine. However, don't think that "people will underestimate me" is a good strategy, because it's not.
A 4/4 spread across three bodies, two of which are in the air, for 2RR.
This is actually surprisingly relevant. The fact that Parents makes flying tokens that also sac to blow things up means that the card is actually really good against Affinity, and you can go over the top for a lot against non-Affinity decks.
Explanation: the creature is indestructible until the enchantment is gone. OStone can't kill the creature without killing the enchantment first, which it can't do, because it destroys everything at once.
Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with netdecking either. I normally have to change lists for budget reasons, but I'm not going to play something unique for the sole purpose of playing something unique. I'm fine with netdecking, but it annoys me when people play strictly worse versions of existing decks "because netdecking is bad." I've seen Court Homunculus and Myr Enforcer in Affinity, in place of Ornithopters and Arcbound Ravagers, not for budget reasons, but "because netdecking is lame," which I can't understand.
For casual play, I tend to base my lists off of the lists of others, but because it's less competitive and more for enjoyment, I'll deviate from these "better" lists to play cards that I like (meaning I put Day's Undoing in everything). Most of my casual decks are really just bad combo decks, and all of the bad combos (most, at least) have already been found, so I try to build on the work of others whenever possible.
Sometimes, and I know this is bad, I'll play a 1x Mana Tithe, and side it out game 2 or 3. The amount of tilt it's causes almost justifies its slot. I love it so much.
I have seen this used to great effect. Sure, it's a bad card, and once people see it, they will stop losing to it. However, I have seen Bogles cast Mana Tithe on a Splinter Twin for the win, and the look on the Twin player's face was worth a few thousand matches.
Fetch lands are used in mono-colored decks to control land drop percentages. A fetchland pulls 2 lands from the deck, so cracking fetches leads to less land drops, which means more gas.
Also, off-color fetches still produce 2 colors with battle lands, which means better fixing
So this finally happened today (I've been playing some of these cards in my deck for a few months waiting for this moment):
Me: Mirrorweave targetting Precursor Golem. After some spells resolve, everything is a Precursor Golem. Now, I cast a kicked Rite of Replication targeting one of my Precursor Golems. I get . . . hmm . . . give me a second to work this out (3 minutes later) I have like 10 quadrillion Precursor Golems and like 1 quinitillion tokens. You all have a lot as well.
Chaotic Mind is broken because you use all your good spells and dump all your bad spells, every turn. Thus, you will get every good card in your deck pretty quickly. You don't even need to pair it with anything, just put it in literally and red deck.
I play in Utah, SLC-area. There are approximately infinity BW Tokens decks, and as far as I can tell, there's almost no BGx Midrange. Besides that, the meta's pretty regular, with a few more "rogue" decks than normal.
I'm not completely sure on this, and I just thought that it would probably be good to know.
At least they're not opening Lavaclaw Reaches . . .
False. Tap City, float a mana, ability triggers, cast spell above City trigger on stack FTW.
It actually does die to Torpor Orb and Hushwing Gryff, and everybody will kill Retreat to Coralhelm on sight, due to the Knightfall deck.

Budget:
I'm shooting for around $80, although I might be able to go up to $100.
