"And then you kill it with fire from a good, old-fashioned, American-made M1A1 flamethrower, a fine weapon responsible for killing many Nazis in the actual World War II."
Glorifying the killing of people is cool now, apparently - just don't make fun of cosplayers.
Titan is a very tough matchup for the Rock, so that's simply not true.
Bold assumption there, considering Horizons has been in the works since long before Phoenix's reign.
The Rock was the only undefeated deck going into the top 8, I believe, at SCG Philly a few days ago. It would have taken the whole event down if not for a misplay against Phoenix in the finals. Yes, it can beat all those decks in the hands of a skilled pilot as Orr clearly demonstrated (pretty sure he even beat Amulet 2-0), so saying it loses to 'the rest of Modern' is simply not true.
Should probably be in the Abzan thread as it's an Abzan Traverse deck. Certainly interesting I'll admit, but not worth cutting Kalitas for right now.
Wha.. why?

I wanted to make sure I didn't look like an ass with my comment so I asked Sodeq considering he's probably the world's leading Dredge expert at this point. He said he doesn't see any lines with Ichorid in Modern Dredge but also echoed your sentiment that it's a very powerful engine with Bridge. At that point though, is it really Dredge still?
Of course, but this is old news for any serious GDS players. Ben Jones has been advocating for taking the draw in the mirror and other grindy matchups for a while now and it's clearly correct as any tempo advantage is negligible versus the long-term card advantage in the inevitable grind that ensues when these decks face off.
Either way, yes, this is one thing a pilot of one of the most powerful decks in the format can do to increase his chances. Good luck beating Phoenix if you're on a tier 2 deck though.
Not really though. They can Opt into Opt into Gut Shot with an otherwise empty hand and a mere two lands in play and put anywhere between 3 to 12 power on the board just like that. This is the consistency issue. GDS won out here as it, too, has nut draws and is probably the number one deck in the format when it comes to raw power, but it could just as easily have gone the other way. I didn't watch the game, but my ten bucks says it was close.
It can be beaten, but just try beating it.
That wasn't his question though, was it?
I doubt they'd play it, it's probably a bit too conditional. You don't want to exile Amalgam for it, generally, and Bloodghast is only 1 point of power smaller while being easy enough to trigger. Stinkweed Imp and Golgari Thug are options but they are pretty big engine enablers.
