If I have Teferi's Realm, does my opponent get a chance to respond when I pick a mode, or does that get picked when it resolves?

Also if I have a way to make infinite mana (specifically high tide x2 + candelabra of tawnos + capsize + sufficient number of Island), how would I shortcut this in a serious tournament? What would I specifically have to say?

Does anybody still play this deck? I actually think it can be playable in this meta.

I was thinking about playing Mystic Remora as a sideboard card for the Grixis Delver matchup. Probably 1-2. Is anybody trying that out right now?

I know that feel. I remember one time a guy was talking about how back in the day he would play Mindslaver. In my head I was like hahaha back in the day my ass, Mindslaver is brand new! In reality the card was already 5+ years old. It happens.
    ---------

I started playing when Invasions was the new set and I would always read the flavor text. The flavor text of newer sets seems so much less.....Magic. Get off of my porch.

The idea is you cunning wish in response to reanimate (or exhume or whatever), grab slaughter pact and then slaughter iona during your next turn and try to combo off. You never pay the upkeep cost (because you can't). This is obviously bull**** though, your opponent can play blue spells while you can't so slaughter pact just gets countered and then you lose. Much better is trying to make sure that the reanimation spell never resolves in the first place or surgical extraction in response. The reanimator matchup is no joke, it doesn't help that their deck is super easy to play so you won't get a bunch of random wins through punts. Flusterstorm is always awesome in the reanimator matchup.

I ran graffdigger's cage for a while. It's alright, but it does stone cold nothing in the Sneak/Show matchup which is much more common. It's usually just going to draw a counter anyways so it's not better than something like swan song. If you land it against dredge you might straight up win since the opponent might not board in the cards necessary to deal with cage. Getting grudge in the yard obviously does nothing.

Yes they're both narrow and mediocre.

Hey guys! I came in 25th with a 6-2-1 record (The one draw was intentional) at SCGPROV with High Tide.

The 1 Spell Pierce may seem random. I was running Snap for a while and I just never wanted it ever. It could be Echoing Truth, but Pierce is a great card.

A previous post said that Pact of Negation isn't great in the DeathBlade match up. I have to disagree, it's always been straight cash for me. After beating my DeathBlade opponent he asked if I still had another pact in hand (and I totally did) out of frustration.

I'm not running any graveyard hate at all and I don't miss it. My plan against dredge is to counter their Cabal Therapies and Dread Returns and then just go off as quickly as possible. I beat dredge when I faced it on Sunday. It's not a great plan but I don't think it's any worse than a graveyard hate plan. The only thing I could see is running echoing truth to dispatch mass zombies (truth obviously has other uses as well).

I'm not really a fan of Top, but I haven't really had the time to give it a fair assessment.

There's not really much more for me to say.

Address? What time does it start? Is the Tundra guaranteed?

EDIT: okok I see that it starts at 1PM

Don't waste slots on a "finisher". Magus and factory are more than enough. World Queller is cute, but in a deck that runs only 11 white sources he would really need to be much better than cute.

Why do you want wrath of god? For the same cost you could play humility.

Watched all of Parks and Rec and I'm totally hooked. I love all the characters. I also can't wait for the new season of Arrested Development.

    Hi!

So I've been living in my apartment for a few months. It's a really great apartment, it's in a good area, I have a garage (parking is a total nightmare in my city, I see police putting boots on cars all the time) and it's reasonably priced. The main negative is that the guy living in the upstairs apartment is a total lunatic.

When my landlord was showing me my apartment he told me about the upstairs guy. He said the state takes care of him, he's like a 40 year old klepto, but generally harmless. Cool. I passed by him one day and he seemed nice. But in reality he's totally crazy. I suppose he can seem normal at a cursory glance, but further inspection proves that he's not all there.

There's a vestibule that I share with him. In order to leave my house on foot I have to go through that vestibule. Richard (that's his real name, idgaf) will periodically stand in the vestibule and just YELL. It's hard to describe in words what it sounds like, some cross between an angry person and a big dog growling? He kicks and throws things and just goes into and out of the building. He'll do this for like 20 minutes. Also he messes with my doorknob whenever he passes it. It's fine during the day, but sometimes he'll do this at like 2am. Call me a wuss, but I tend to wake up scared when someone is trying to open my door at two in the morning. And what business does a guy like Richard have at 2am?

But yeah, he's standing on my steps right now and he just yelled ****ing firefighters! (how can you have an axe to grind with firefighters?) I want to go running right now (I have my shoes on and everything!) but I don't want to walk past this guy. He's big loud and erratic.

He has care takers, but I've never met them. They must come when I'm at work. I heard them once on a holiday.

My landlord lives like 90 minutes away. He owns like 50 apartments. He tried to kick Richard out but it didn't happen.

I recently started dating a girl and I don't know what I'd do if Richard starts being crazy while she's here. I think that's the main reason why this is bothering me right now. And I really want to run.

    So what should I do?

Nice. I used to work at a race track and would always be on the lookout for rarities. I would see thousands of dollars a day and never found anything good (Might be because we mostly dealt with bills).

When I was a little kid I found a map of the Hudson River. It looked super old to me, maybe even Civil War era. I took it to a "local historian" and he said it was probably made around 1950. Welp!

Amazing how this thread is still near the top. I think my hair has grown back, or at least I've made peace with what I have left. It could be because I am under less stress now that I graduated. I use to have grey hairs in my beard but those are all gone now.

Not really. From a competitive standpoint, you could use it against imperial painter decks.

How? What's the secret homelands tech that imperial painter runs?

  • posted a message on Saving up for cards
I've been playing the Legacy High Tide deck for about a year. I love it, it's probably my favorite deck of all time. I have been playing without candles because they are really expensive and I thought the deck was doing just fine without them. I did end up having a decent amount of success with my candle free build. I eventually ended up trying out a candled build and realized just how strong candles really are. I decided that it was time for me to play the real version of the deck.

The thing is, $700+ is still a lot of money to me (and I'm guessing it's a lot of money for other people too). I have a good job, I could drop seven hundred bucks, but I wouldn't feel good about it. 700 dollars can buy a computer....or 3 slices of cardboard. Magic isn't my primary hobby (running/soccer) and Legacy isn't even my primary format (drafting). Also 700 dollars is probably less than I'd end up paying, it's probably closer to 900.

So I guess I'm looking for a way to set aside the money over a few months. I read about a couple that would set aside every five dollar bill they got and eventually they saved up a ton of money. That wouldn't really work too well for me since I probably end up encountering a five dollar bill about once or twice a week. So it would take over a year.

I have some trade stuff, but it's mostly rtr and not really worth too much. I thought about using the scg buylist, but it's extremely underwhelming (four bucks for a bloodcrypt? Awesome....)

So yeah, that's my story. Any advice?

I think the best way to learn any programming skill is to get the basics down, think of a project you want to make, and then go make it. Have a reference book/stack overflow at hand for the times you get stuck.

If you want to learn Android (my day job is Android Development) there is a ton of information on the official dev page. You need to know some java to get started, but it's really not hard to pick up. Certainly no harder than picking up Magic the Gathering. If you make a good app someone will hire you.

While not necessarily free, the "Head First" series are excellent books for beginners. They are thick books, but you can go through them pretty quickly.

^The first programming book I ever read. It's pretty good.
