Stillmoon Cavalier....I really like this guy. The only reason he doesn't see much play in my neck of the woods is because RDW and Elves are big. RDW makes lunchmeat out of this guy, but Doran and Kithkin are helpless against him.
He's a perfect 3-of card in the sideboard. A mid-cost, jumping, pumping, first-striking creature with protection from white and black is a good investment in a deck that doesn't have much playable third turn stuff.
I really want to try out Creakwood Liege. I said when he came out that he was the Garruk of Eventide....a little extreme, I suppose, but I like a free 3/3 every turn, TY. He also makes other critters bigger......and if you are fortunate enough to bust out 2, he gets redonkulous.
Let me know how the Creakwood Liege works out please!
The Thing about this Liege is: that is to fragil. It´s a 4 mana, for a 2/2 creature. On this deck, blossom is way better and tokens has evasion. Ok, it gives a 3/3 token every turn for no damage, but it´s a 1/1 token, if its not in play. Even a shock can hit this guy of. So on turn four, is much better play Korlarsh or Danmation.
There´s a saying here in Brazil that´s says: "I´m a Brazilian. I never give up!"
So here I´m going to play MBC at FFA. After a good result on GP, I'll give the mercy shot to MBC. As I can realize, there isn´t lots of faries or fish right now on my envoirment. Must because RDW is a chep deck btm and there is lot of players playing it, and MBC is a Good match aggainst it.
On my first regionals that i've playedMBC and did 5-2, I played Mind Stone and looks like a nice addition to this deck. Is good aggaint merfolk to damnation the board on turn 4, with cursecatcher on game, is good aggainst elves, it may helps on BTQ, and on late game is a draw that we need.
Snow Engine Is worth it. Mana ramp use sheets as well sometimes with less snow-permanets.
4 demigod: Not sure. Might cut 1 to 1 Razormane Masticore, pretty good aggainst lot´s of decks.
Necroskitter: A machine aggainst aggro. Don´t need explanation.
Blossom: Good aggainst Control, bad aggainst aggro. Actually Im only playing it because Im quite scary of runed halo. So its can be a good response to it.
Nosse: Same as blossom, but just aggainst CC and RDW Demigods.
Oona: Same as blossom. We do not have many problems aggainst aggro, expect chamaleon. But is good aggainst larks and combos.
Unmake: Awnsome aggainst Demigods RDW, Deity of Scars and Lark (with no suspended GGdon).
Faerie macabre: Over extirpate because, lark can be they main problem, and macabre is quite better at combo occasions.
Imp's Mischief: Not sure, but as people here use to use Im trying aggainst fish and Faeries and combo, it can be also a trick aggainst BG elves avoiding a Tzise.
Thinking about Goat Land, because it can be good aggainst faeries as well.
And Good helps me to make to Nationals, because it is just faith. ;D
i actually think people are buying the collosus because its a card that people have found great against black removal. it can't be terrored, shriekmawed, eyebrighted, sudden deathed, and so on. I dont think it has to deal with black in general as a deck color. people seem to be always be surprised by a mono-black deck. majority are buying the collosus because IT IS a creature that fits any creature theme. It is a changling and would go with faires, goblins, merfolk, warriors, and so on. hell, it will go with thrulls.
I dont think its mainly about black hate, i just think its because it can fit in any tribal deck.
Quite agreed, despite the fact of being cheangeling.
Its just because its a 4 mana creature, that on follow turncan swimg for 8 and yf u have enough mana for 16. It just ridiculous and its have a protection from the color that have the best removals.
Just came back from Buenos Aires GP, and might to say That was a really nice GP, I finished on 108 on 600ich player piloting an MBC, doing 5-1-2, losting the last game to the day 2. =/
Really Quickly Report because Im too tired but want to share with U:
Game 1:
When My opponent saw me, he conced...kkk....*BYE*
1-0-0
Match 2 - RG Ramp
I had 5 blossom tokens, and he was 7 ich, he top deckded a Firesprout, cleaned table and aply CC. I topecked a trip Noose (at this point I had more than 10 lands and did not had draw a single BTQ, so...), but he topdecked a Command and put Noose on top and shuffle my deck. He won.
Game 2
I won easily.
Game 3
Not enough time
1-1-0
Match 3:
A friend from Brazil with Quick-n-Toast. When he saw me, he knew was a bad match for him, actually I lost my first game to this deck a few matches latter.
Game 1:
He tryed to keep alive, but i dont know why, Is just simple beat this deck.
Game 2:
I mulligan for 6, with a 5land hand and manage to do this with Liliana: Tutor once, discard 6 times and use her 3 ability. Was enough?
2-1-0
Match 4:
Other friend with BG.
Game 1:
He putted some pressure, but I slowed him down with Noose on his CC, a korlarh and a Masticore. I had 7 lands on game and 1 on my hand. The I look to my top and saw a hammer. I killed my masticore to play hammer, equip and regenarate korlash, because he had 3 beast tokens + CC. (He had pact to kill my Masticore and didnd understand when I did =]) Korlarsh with hammer was too much to him.
Game 2:
Was a race, but a Demigod on turn 5 followed for another one on turn 6 was too much for a BG to deal with.
3-1-0
Match 5 - GW Ramp
Game 1:
I keeped a hand with 2 blossom + desert. But after while 3 finks + Crovax made me conced.
Game 2:
Draw nothing, he drew everything. Was quite raped on this one.
3-1-1
Match 6 - RG Zvi
When my ooponent plyed a Karpulsan Forest on turn 1, I just smiled. Nice Aggro deck are our good match. He managed to play CC on turn 3 and I Damnation on turn 4. Then a BTQ for noose and I was on game. Easily win with 2 corrput of 12.
Game 2:
Can´t recall, even easier the first one.
4-1-1
Game 7 - Quick'n Toast
I just smiled and fell that was my day.
Game 1: He drew all 4 commands to try to stop me, even though he could stop Korlash + blossom, plus Onna.
Game 2: He killed me drawing his 4 command again, I felt weird about that, but...
Game 3: Was missing 9 miutes, and I played korlash on turn four, and receving a mind shatter on 3, that took me out a OOna and Masticore and let Demigod on my hand, who help me too win.
6-1-1
1 game to day 2 =D
And I was preety sure I would win whe I saw a elf token under my opponent deck, but...s%%%% happens.
Game 1:
He thoughtsized me whe n I keepd a bad hand with 2 lands a noose and a terror and died with the 4 land + danmation on top=/
Game 2:
The game resumes this. we mulliganed. He played CC on turn 4. On turn 5 I damnationed the board. On turn 5 he plyed Garruk untaping 2 lands. I didnt draw the 5th land to play demigod. He played command for 4 untapping 2 lands and putting CC on game aggain. I didnt draw the 5th land, either a noose or a damnation. I lost
5-1-2
On the end my friend were very happy about my result, but I felt quite sad, because of the possibility to do day 2 with MBC. Its a shame, now deck is retired and I had to play block.
@ Sober:
Ur list becames pretty different from the rest of Us, as the way it becames much more control, not a Aggro Control, still I think U could change 1 or 2 things. Or at least try.
If u using 4 Mind Stones, I believe that 24 lands is enough. Speacilly if ur not running no Urchins or Sno-Engines. U may flood, even if u sac a stone for draw. Saccing one land u´ll have a open slot for another kill condition maybe (Corrupt?) or something like this.
I dont uderstand using Vivids here just for Void or Firesprout. OK, they add green mana for flyers, but they came tapped. If u have 4 cairns + 2 storage lands, are way better, speacilly if u cout down 1 land and replace with a Consume Spirit! And even Oona´s can take advance of a large amount of mana.
Terror > NI - Just simple, it kills small thing as well and big things too. It doesn´t kill black creatures, but let´s be honest, in this evoirment the only black creature playiong on tier 1 or 2 are faires tokens. =D
In the other hand the deck looks pretty solid for a hard control, and splashing Void and Sprout can be really helpfull sometimes.
And just a personal Suggestion, as U playing Mind stone, wich makes U "faster", U might should try 1 or 2 Puppeter Clique on Sideboard. Is pretty nice aggainst Lark and Toast, as U have four manas on turn 4 and they tapped out for a Mulldrifter draw on turn 3. I just can swing for 2, draw + remove it from the game, and it has persist, wich can be the blocker aggainst Tresher, while U do remove another creature from Opponents graveyard.
The thing is Corrupt is 6 mana, that usually causes 6 damage. It also can kill planeswalker and creature.
Sometimes command is just 4 of damage. Of course its possible to kill a creature and do some damage to an opponent, but Corrupt gives u life.
If someone in a competitive tournament are using story circle, is better to have a neddle than a profane, i think.
@Kyro:
About tool box. Its not that tool box, but Trip noose is easly tutored on turn 3 and u can play and use on turn 4, whats makes a huge difference against CC. So U should try.
Oonas, is something, I dont regreat to take out 1 Demigod for 1 Oona. Also U have space on sideboard to put it back on it.
I don´t know about ur field, but 4 death marks its feels like ur to scary about Doran or goyfs like. But tendrils + terror is enough.
I agree with you in some o your toughts. Im going to play GP Buenos Aires with MOnoBlack. And got Richards list, as a base to mine one, but I pumped it!
I think is pretty solid.
Yesterday I wasplaying aggainst a toast and Fury Husk. The first is 30-70 faries and BR is 70-30 or us. toast is almost 100-0 us. I never lost a single game to it.
But we have a huge problem, that is called MERFOLK!
So, The main difference for the richards list and mine, is snow engine, 1 oonas over 1 demigod, and no profane, there I found a little bit redundand on this deck. Not worth it, actually.
Why U just dont run terror main over nameless? OK, nameless que target balck creatures, but how many black creatures are playing in this envoriment. On late game aggainst Zvi or Quicktoast, nameless is uselees.
I think I should go like this:
- 1 Tendrils
- 1 Shierkmaw
- 2 Tomstalker
- 4 nameless
+ 1 BTQ
+ 1 Land
+ 1 Extirpate
+ 2 Sudden Death
+ 3 terror
Side:
- 2 Extirpate
- 2 Terror
+ 1 Mind Shatter
+ 1 Pithing Neddle (Or big creatures like Grim Poppet or Stronghold Oveseer or Midnight Banshee)
+ 2 Sudden Spoling (good aggainst Chamaleon, Lark, El-Ball)
The question is ur deck "wants" to kill with a big Corrut, so U cannot got mana screwed, so U have to up ur lands to 25, at least. 1 Extirpate main deck is always good.
I was playing 4 sudden death and it is not enough to beat faries... BUt 2 I just a good call. Sudden death was a amazig card, before big dudes came to life after Zvi and Wafo tapas deck. Now u need to aterrorazy them very quickly.
@prismaticelf:
Ironfoot is anwsome, but only if in ur envoirment there is lots of aggro, otherwise, is not good enough for this deck. U have to look to urchins like this: Is a */3 removal with draw advantage. Or is a Ancestral with legs! Also if ur playing desert u can kill ur creature to draw 2 and find that what u need.
Dont worry about find a set o deserts, U can play 3 (or 2) + Mouth of Ronom. Actually I´ll play 3 + mouth.
But as u see, there is something intresting on both list.
noone runs command. As I think, it is not that strong on this deck, once we dont have lots of creatures to bring back. Is is to be a finisher Corrupt is much better. And both are running.
Dusk Urchins is missing too. I believe it is much better the Cold steel, so Im keeping them on my board.
Just Wondering, my one is looking like pretty similar, but I still like Corrupt And can´t see space to Command. I know is easier to fecth with BTQ, but Corrupt is a great finisher. Sometimes better that command.
I know if ure running Tendrils u dont need corrupt, but lets see my list. That I´ll play more one Regz:
Deathmark: Not enough Dorans or GW persist on my envoirment. I prefer Run 2 pact (or 2 Shierkmaw) + 2 tendrils because is effective aggainst other random decks that always shows up on Regz.
Neddle: Should be the 4th thoughtsize, but I totally forgot to get with my team "manager". =/ But its ok to "kill" opponents 4 treetops and 4 mutavaults with just 1 card.
Sudden Deat: To much faries, larks and Merfolk at this time. It kills and is not countered.
Corrupt: Can´t help it. Think it is a great finisher, life swinger. Cant see room for Command here. Actually I never won a game playing it.
Faerie macabre: Looks like anwsome, but I´ll not manage to get some until sunday, so I stick with extirpate aggainst faries and merfolk + Puppeter aggainst Lark.
Distress: Over Stupor and Mind Shatter, because quality is always better than quantity! ;D
Sudden Spoiling: + Desert, kill target Chamaleon and sometimes manage to be the time needed just to win the game.
Dread: A really big dude, really hard to kill, with a nice evasion (if Im not wrong, the only deck that have creatures to block it is Faries) and that kill ur opponents creatures. Just a bloody though guy!
Thoughtsize: Every one agree is a really nice card. In all formats. But why not main? Because there is a lot of aggro decks and it is pretty easy for us, to manage defeat them, though. Cool! but now, on my envoirment at least, since Zsi deck, there are lots of people running 4 CC on main. So Im exchanging 2 points of life for 4 PL.
I know my side looks like pretty bizarre, but I believe this will be nice.
:jam::jam::jam:And people, I dont Know who are posting here will play GP Buenos Aires, but I will, and I will with: MBC! :jam::jam::jam:
@Duffman: I quite like your deck. Seems very consistant, but i think need some changes. You´ve got to remind somethings:
Deserts: Good Against faries, elves, Kitchen Finks and Even a Chamaleon after a sudden Spoiling
Grim Puppet: Seems Fantastic, It can chumpblock and even kill CC.
Trip Noose: On this case is better than Manipulator. OK, it doesn´t tap artifacts, but, U can fetch it on turn 2 with BTQ, and play and use on turn 4.
Corrupt. I´m a big fan, but as Ive already played 4 regionalz, i can assure u, on this enviorment. 2 is enough. 3 is too much.
BB: Has to be 4.
Pact: Its something. Its a really good trick, speacilly when ur tapped out. Might be changed or terror as well.
Sideboard, it quite personal for me. I like pupeteer because its good aggainst Wafotapas deck and reivelark, tooking off some of their targets and using it to ur favor.
And after take a look on ur list, Ill play something like this:
@Darkspawn:
I saw his list, and I assure you, I´ve already played Mind Stones and Coldsteel, and I assure you, is not worth it. Even if sometimes u can play Damnation on turn 3. But to that, U will play BB on turn 4! Is not even a fair trade.
@Tarmagoyf: Ghastlord of Fugue seems pretty nuts, but when is countered, is countered. Period. With Demigod, we don´t feel petty to Damnation the board, sometimes its even a tech. It might be worth to test. But still I prefer Demigod.
So that´s why I'm re-playig it.

Some explanations:
On my first regionals that i've playedMBC and did 5-2, I played Mind Stone and looks like a nice addition to this deck. Is good aggaint merfolk to damnation the board on turn 4, with cursecatcher on game, is good aggainst elves, it may helps on BTQ, and on late game is a draw that we need.

4 demigod: Not sure. Might cut 1 to 1 Razormane Masticore, pretty good aggainst lot´s of decks.

Actually Cris Corlan list is more like mine.
So good look to me on next sunday.
18 Swamp
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
2 Leechridden Swamp
4 Desert
Creatures (11):
4 Dusk Urchins
4 Korlash, Heir to Blackblade
3 Demigod of Revenge
4 Damnation
4 Terror
4 Beseech the Queen
3 Tendrils of Corruption
3 Profane Command
Other (6):
4 Bitterblossom
2 Loxodon Warhammer
4 Deathmark
4 Faerie Macabre
4 Thoughtseize
3 Sudden Death
Just Wondering, my one is looking like pretty similar, but I still like Corrupt And can´t see space to Command. I know is easier to fecth with BTQ, but Corrupt is a great finisher. Sometimes better that command.
I know if ure running Tendrils u dont need corrupt, but lets see my list. That I´ll play more one Regz:
16 Snow-Covered Swamp
1 Scrying Sheets
1 Mouth of ronom
2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
2 Leechridden Swamp
3 Desert
Creatures (12):
4 Dusk Urchins
4 Korlash, Heir to Blackblade
3 Demigod of Revenge
1 Dread
4 Beseech the Queen
3 Thoughtsize
3 Sudden Death
3 Corrupt
2 Terror
2 Damnation
Other (6):
4 Bitterblossom
1 Pithing Neddle
1 Loxodon Warhammer
3 Distress
2 Damnation
2 Sudden Spoiling
2 Extirpate
2 Puppeter Clique
2 Slaughter Pact
2 Tendrils of Corruption
I know seems werid, but let´s go to explanations:
4 Korlash, Heir to Blackblade
4 Shriekmaw
1 Grim Harvest
3 Sudden Death
4 Beseech the Queen
4 Corrupt
1 Damnation
1 Profane Command
4 Thoughtseize
25 Swamp
1 Liliana Vess
60 cards
1 Sudden Death
4 Terror
3 Damnation
4 Distress
1 Mind Shatter
2 Liliana Vess
15 cards
-1 Demigod
+1 Dread
-1 Command
+1 Damnation
-4 Shierkmaw
+4 dusk Urchins
-1 Corrupt
+1 Loxodn Warhammer
-1 liliana
-1 GrimHarvest
+2 Terror
15x Snow-Covered Swamp
4x Desert
2 Scrying Sheets
2 Urborg, Tomb of Yaghmoth
2x Leechridden Swamp
Creatures (12)
4x Korlash, Heir to Blackblade
4x Dusk Urchins
3x Demigod of Revenge
1x Grim Poppet
4x Bitterblossom
3x Beseech The Queen
3x Damnation
3x Sudden Death
3x Tendrils of Corruption
2x Profane Command
2x Slaughter Pact
1x Corrupt
1x Loxodon Warhammer
1x Trip Noose
1x Trip Noose
1x Damnation
1x Corrupt
2x Extirpate
2x Pupeeteer Clique
2x Sudden Spoiling
3x Stupor
3x Thoughtseize
I saw his list, and I assure you, I´ve already played Mind Stones and Coldsteel, and I assure you, is not worth it. Even if sometimes u can play Damnation on turn 3. But to that, U will play BB on turn 4! Is not even a fair trade.
@Tarmagoyf:
Ghastlord of Fugue seems pretty nuts, but when is countered, is countered. Period. With Demigod, we don´t feel petty to Damnation the board, sometimes its even a tech. It might be worth to test. But still I prefer Demigod.
