This isn't quite correct. This card has what's known as a "reflexive trigger" on it, which is new-ish technology they've been using for the past few years. Basically, when you see a spell or ability that gives you an option to do something and then follows that up with the phrase "when you do," that's what you have, So in this instance, when this spell resolves, all that happens during the spell's resolution is that you draw 2 cards, and you *may* discard 2 cards. Then, if you discarded the 2 cards, the "when you do" triggered ability triggers and, most importantly, goes on the stack as a new object, it does not just add on to the resolving spell. Because of this, your opponent will always have the ability to respond to the damage dealing triggered ability after knowing both that you chose to trigger the ability and also how much damage it will deal.
Now, all that said, card is super neat, and I really love the design of it. -

Iceheart_Omnis posted a message on [MKM] Curious Inquiry — MTGso previewWhile Investigate is weaker than straight-up draw, this card+ Teething Wurmlet is a match made in Heaven. I wonder if some artifact-based aggro can grow out of that plan. It's a rather interesting design, I love it.Posted in: The Rumor Mill -

That black Stuffy Doll, though... not requiring you to lock onto one opponent only, plus being an evasive critter and source of card draw when needed? Sign me up. -

I wasn't assuming tokens, hence why I stated "IF". Please don't make dense, oafish, mouth-breather assumptions like that.
Then that can also include morphs or anything else face down.
What is wrong woth you? -

This honestly has to be the most underwhelming reprint set in...forever.
Aside from shocklands and cyclonic rift (which doesn't even have nice arts in my opinion), there's literally nothing worth opening.
Bruvac is alright, but very niche and will likiely tank since very few players gravitate towards mill decks.
T3feri is already selling below $10, and who doesn't already have a dark confidant playset or Lilianas?
Karn just got the ban-hammer, and as much as I love seeing Deathrite Shaman with retro border, it's also banned anywhere I'd want to play it.
Cloudstone Curio got bumped up to mythic? Why?
I'm not sure what I expected from this set, but given the card pool, packs and boxes should be half the price they're currently marked up at.
Maybe the draft format will be fun for those who can afford and enjoy the gamble, but this seems like a much worse set than all the other "remastered" and "masters" sets in recent years. -

Absolutely nothing, but the cards are prettyQuote from TwinfrodoPhoenix »Quote from Flisch »We're getting anime cards again? What does Ravnica have to do with anime?
I know I’m going to get roasted for this but my question is what does old border have to do with ravnica? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Not everything is about attacking... could you imagine an ability that is useful one way when attacking, useful a different way when blocking? Could you conceive of that? Maybe an made-ability you read recently would be just that. Maybe.

Yes, it is you. All you want is to spectacle these poor people fighting each other to the death for some macguffin for your entertainment when all they want is to hang together and have a good time. Shame on you.

You misunderfstood what I meant: the bad part was that an opponent would claim you cannot cast the spell out of suspend because you passed the final counter removal. As in you say "upkeep, draw" but before you actually draw you realize you forgot to remove the counter and cast the spell and your opponent says "too bad, new rule says casting is optional, so you did not."
I say this because I've had multiple experience with such players.

That being said, break out is interesting for creature-based combo decks. Digging 6 and giving haste is relevant when trying to devoted druid your way to infinite mana.
Oh and that blinkable -4/-4 removal. Neat.
