WotC- Greens removal is suppose to be tied to you having creatures on the battlefield because thats how green would do it.
Also WotC- Green would totally physically smash you without physically existing. Yeah...they totally...always did that.
Me- 🤦🏻♂️
Love it. Has some strong synergy with Mutate, since the +1/+1 counters affect the whole creature's stats, no matter who's on top.
Yup. Mutate something on top of this and you can use both +1/+1 counters to get land and continue to use the ability if you get more counters on the top guy later.
Yes, that's fair. For the body tacked onto the effect I will buy it. I was thinking more in terms of constructed, as a combo piece but I didn't specify. So, yeah... in limited a high pick common for sure.
And you dont really want to attack with this in a giant monster of the opponent, this just dies.
Hint- You mutate something bigger on top of this, not beneath it.
They were going to chump block the bigger guy anyway, might as well let something else get a free hit in.
Would still like it more as an Instant, tapping out for 4 mana in a world of mutate is just going to be really bad.
The permanent is still barred from attacking, blocking or activating abilities even if they slap a new mutation on top of it. No worry about crack-back from the things you pinged with this. Players have to invest lots of mana to mutate a big enough threat and you only have to pay 4 to nullify 90% of it for a turn.
More proof that WotC is slowly pushing the game to be better for digital than paper. They would avoided stuff like this like the plague back-when because of how memory intensive it is. At this point the game should just be an expanding board game primarily played with cards.
It's patently obvious when you consider that +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters are mutually exclusive for the express purpose of streamlining game play. The abrupt reversal of course signifies a major design shift for Wizards, and the underlying motivation is not so subtle...
Also it makes no sense that first strike and double strike exist as mechanics but two first strike counters won’t give the creature double strike unless an ability of the card explicitly states that, which just leaves a card that’s too incredibly narrow to be good. Then alot of people being understandably annoyed by this.
Edit- And the only two colors that really make sense for moving around keyword counters are blue and green.
Early on Lifelink & Menace. You'll get hits in and thus lower their life and gain some to lessen the crackback.
Later on Lifelink & Deathtouch. Much like Nighthawk.
Also in the draft boosters are these punch-out ability counters.
Called it. Personally, I think this is a bad move on WotC's part and we're going to either end up adding even more (unnecessary) errata in the future one way or the other after this set cycles out or changing a whole bunch of rules on the "non-stackable" abilities. In essence, WotC is literally contradicting themselves in the handling and naming of these "counters". Seriously, WotC could have literally gone with any other naming convention, mark, marker, stele, even souvenir. Literally anything else that doesn't imply that having multiple of these things can cause stacking ability.

You people are really pissing me off with your irrational attitudes to things. A lot of you need to STFU and be gone.
You're about as relevant as Trump's presidency at this moment so knock it off.
'buster
How is it that people on this site can insult a president, who has absolutely zero to do with this game or it’s company, and other posters on this site because thats how feel about Trump and they don’t get a warning for insulting someone.....yet if you insult Mark Rosewater you get a warning for insulting someone? The hypocrisy is off the charts here.
The only way to stop them from this is to STOP BUYING THIS PRODUCT AT THIS PRICE POINT!
Players need to show fiscal discipline and refrain from spending on these. Then it will stop. Problem is 95% of the Magic Market has the backbone of an elderly Jellyfish and will talk about not buying then go right out and buy it.
Is that other 5% the minority of forum posters who bray like farmyard jackasses about how evil WotC is, then also continue to play the game anyways?
Do you destroy things from a company you dislike after you already bought them? No you don’t. I can continue to play the game with others with they cards i own before i stopped buying any more. We can love playing the game without continuing to support the company. Is that too difficult for you to understand?
Everyone whinging about fetches not being in a standard legal set better buckle up, because that ain't changing any time soon. WotC explicitly DOES NOT want fetches + shocks in Pioneer, meaning any reprints are going to be in supplemental sets.
As far as the Secret Lair itself is concerned, I'll finally accept THIS as proof they care about the secondary market. Prior examples people were holding up COULD have been attributed to the printed rarity of the cards, despite what many people here seemed to believe. This is 5 rares, so that's officially dead. That being said, I don't consider opting to NOT cause the secondary market to collapse in on itself to be a bad thing. They're prioritizing maintaining customers over replacing them.
Allied fetches were auto banned in Pioneer! Why would enemy fetches not be auto banned in Pioneer? Seriously the answer is right ******* there!!!
The Fetchlands... Well, I guess I'll have to get them, but the price OMG
No you don’t. This kind of thought process is exactly what people need to stop doing. Constantly high-fiving WotC for terrible things has done nothing good.

This place has become a shill echo chamber. You can’t say anything against WotC without people and moderators REEEEEing! you for it.
