    Hey everyone,

I posted here about my Magic: The Gathering life counter app, Life Gatherer, a couple of months ago. Your support was awesome and contributed greatly to the app's successful release. And now the app is getting even better! I just released an update including: 4 player support, new mana icons, and compatibility improvements for wide resolution devices! Here's the app's full feature list...

    Life Gatherer Features
-Add and subtract life in increments of 1 or 5 for fast efficient scorekeeping
-Toggle between Two-Headed Giant, Commander/EDH, and normal games
-Easily manage poison counters or hide them for a cleaner display
-Simulate the roll of 6-sided dice or a 20-sided die
-Simulate coin flips with the touch of a button
-Change each player's background to represent one of the five colors of Magic
-Switch to a single life display if your opponent wants to track their life separately
-Supports 1-4 players or up to 4 teams with shared life

Life Gatherer is available on iOS, Android, and the Chrome Web Store. The Chrome Web Store version of the app (originally $2) is now absolutely FREE!! If your laptop or desktop web browser is Google Chrome, pick up this handy MTG scorekeeping app today!

The Android and iOS versions of Life Gatherer will remain at the 99¢ price point, but as an extra thank you for the continued support I'm going to leave 10 promo codes here, which can be redeemed for a FREE copy of Life Gatherer on an iOS device (iPhone or iPad)...

    Hey guys,

I spent some time browsing and testing various MTG life counters on the app store recently, and I must say I found the popular apps extremely disappointing. Most life counters have an interface that suffers from 1 of 2 problems: either using a busy background image (like Chandra or Shivan Dragon) that obscures basic UI functionality OR using barebones "programmer art", which lacks any aesthetic appeal whatsoever. Visuals aside, I had difficulty finding a life counter that met all my needs: coin flips, dice rolls, EDH/Commander support, Two-Headed Giant support, a clean UI, no ads, etc. So rather than settle for a lackluster app, I made my own - Life Gatherer!

Life Gatherer's interface is both minimal and modern. If you want an app that has poison counters, but also the option to turn them off and unclutter the screen, Life Gatherer has you covered. If you want the ability to add or subtract life in increments of 1 or 5 so you never get stuck spamming the -1 button when your opponent smacks you for 15 damage in a single turn, Life Gatherer has you covered.

Each player can change their background on the fly to represent one of the 5 colors of magic, you can easily switch between game modes, and if your opponent wants to keep track of their own life, simply switch to Life Gatherer's "1 Life Total" display!

Life Gatherer was built from scratch to replace both pen & paper and inferior life counters with missing functionality. So leave those old life counters behind and take your Magic: The Gathering game to the next level! Download Life Gatherer today on iOS, Android, or the Chrome Web Store (for when you're playing Magic near a device with a larger display, like a PC or laptop)!

You can also try the in-browser demo of Life Gatherer on my website, here. Your support is very much appreciated!

If you're looking for a great MTG life counter app you should give Life Gatherer a try. It has most of what you're looking for (minus the card prices and gatherer rules for any card, but there aren't many apps that handle those features well). Life Gatherer has random dice rolls (12 or 20-sided dice adjustable via options), a random coin flip, poison counters (which you can turn on or off to un-clutter the interface), and even options for Commander/EDH and Two-Headed Giant games. Most of the popular life counters have really hideous interfaces, but Life Gatherer has a very clean/minimal look which is refreshing. Here's a few links if you want to check it out...

Interesting. I haven't played much EDH either and I didn't really expect combo decks to be so popular but it makes sense.

Looks like a misprint to me, but who knows.

Thematically at least this set seems more interesting than Theros.

Excellent article. That game looks really fun albeit a bit outdated graphically and in other respects.

I'm also wondering if there's a way to acquire the book if you missed the original Kickstarter.
