Metalcraft isn't a trigger and you can't float mana with two Opals in play because you can't respond to the legend rule. You have to float the mana and then play the second Opal.
So I've been back on Jeskai for about a week and a half after taking a break to Kiki people for a bit. I have yet to play against the Hogaak deck, so take my words with a grain of salt in that regard but I think the list I'm on is actually quite good.
I think I'm 9-2 at the moment with the list. Obviously this is still a very small sample size and it's only at the FNM/local level, but the deck has felt very strong when I've played it. It seems to have the tools to handle the variety of decks that Modern can throw at it (barring I suppose something like Lantern Control). As I said, still haven't played against Hogaak, but at least I THINK the matchup is fine. There's at least a plan in place for it. I also thought Puzzle Box had to be a meme when I first saw a list with it, but it's actually a great instant win option.
Neoform vs promo jeskai 0-2
Elfs vs promo jeskai 1-2
Storm vs promo jeskai 1-1
Jund vs promo jeskai 2-0
I want some help because go against Jund is not fun. I try my best, and why not draw so much land as I did :P.
I side in.
2x rest in peace
1x gideon of zendikar
2x Mirran crusader.
Out.
4x snappy
1x serum.
I don't know what is the best we can do and side in?
Please help me brothers and sisters
Cutting your Snapcasters against Jund is a really bad idea. They're a one-for-one deck and Snapcaster is really important to breaking that parity. You can pretty safely cut Helixes since they're not great against their threats and they're less efficient than Bolt, and Remands on the draw are pretty medium so you can shave them.
if just picked up a couple of Copys of the new Teferi and can say I'm excited to try him out. any thoughts on him guys? 3 manna removal+ stops opp from playing at instant speed. seems great am I missing something?
I don't think that the format is conducive to the card being good, at least in the mainboard, right now.
Who here is still on Jeskai? I have to say that, although Jeskai always had the up vs UW, Esper's access to Esper Charm is really backbreaking. I've been musing on how to make the matchup better and I think the best way is to go under them
Maybe it's time to dust off Geist of Saint Traft again
I've unsleeved my Jeskai cards and started playing UR Kiki for the past couple of weeks. I don't think that it's necessarily better (though right now it may very well be), but I have been on a terrible losing streak lately and I'm too emotionally attached to Jeskai to be able to step back and enjoy just playing even if i lose. I don't have that issue with Kiki, so here we are.
I actually think the manabase is fine for Anger (maybe not mathematically, I don't know that part). You'll have to make concessions to aggressively fetching double red in the matchups where you want Anger, but that's generally fine to do in those matchups. You probably don't NEED to have the Angers in the board given that you're playing Settle in the main.
Talisman is definitely weird. I don't know that I hate it, but as of now it's the weakest card until you shore up the tings Bearscape mentioned. I also think having some number of Rule of Law type effects in your board is good right now.
Just in case someone looks at that F2F list and want to put it together, it's missing a card form the main deck. I'm guessing either a land or a 4th Opt.
The most important part of the deck is knowing when to pump your Figures. You aren't playing like an all out aggro deck, so sometimes it's just a 1/1. But it's won me a lot of games as a 4/4 as well, because you're able to back it up with cheap disruption, and even if it dies, you have plenty of other threats.
