Very enjoyable read, thanks! -
Jul 5, 2017RileyMcAwesome posted a message on The World of TherosHey, great article. I was recently talking to a friend about how I didn't know anything about Theros (other than I love their gods for EDH decks!). My only question: do you have more information or links about Gideon's "indestructible aura?" It isn't mentioned in his gamepedia page.Posted in: Articles

EDIT: What do you feel about Vendilion Clique? I think it is more the midrange option than lili, but can fill partly the same roll as controlling their hand. You even get to look at it which I find amazingly powerful.
This does look like great fun though
I mostly just enjoy quality decks, with slight Spike aspects, but with at least some interaction. Decks I have had fun messing around with are like forms of UW midrange/control, UR Delver (when it was good), and an aggressive Seismic Assault deck. But at this point those decks just aren't winning enough for me to feel up to par with my friends and their tier 1/2 decks.
Another aspect I'm looking for is to not be playing something that my friends are. This is more than just a cry for individuality, it has more to do with fun battles with my friends. I play the most with these 3 or 4 people, so I don't want half the decks to be the same, resulting in mirror matches or my friends always going against the same one deck. Also, most of these friends have better collections than I do, so their version of the deck would be better than mine.
Right now those decks would be: U/R Twin, Grixis Delver, Cruel Control, Merfolk, and Affinity
My budget is as large as it needs to be, excluding cards like Goyf and Lili, but the higher the price tag the longer I want the deck to last since it may take me some time to get all the cards. (But if it helps let's say $400)
My staples are:
BLUE: 3 Snapcaster Mage, 4 Mana Leak, 4 Remand, 3 Gifts Ungiven, and a handful of lesser control staples(3 Spell Pierce, some Spell Snares, etc...)
RED*: 4 Eidolon of the Great Revel, 4 Bolts, 4 Searing Blaze, 4 Faithless Looting, 3 Seismic Assault, 4 Monastery Swiftspear, 1 Grim Lavamancer, 4 Young Pyromancer, 4 Rift Bolt, 4 Lava Spike, 1 Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker
*I was beggining to play burn but it wasn't interactive enough.
Green: 3 Birds of Paradise, 4 Life From the Loam, 3 Sakura-Tribe Elder (I don't play much green)
Black: 4 Smother, 4 Bloodghast, 4 Smallpox, 4 Raven's Crime, 2 Unburial Rites
White: 4 Path to Exile, 3 Lingering Souls, 4 Squadron Hawk, 2 Restoration Angel, Iona, Shield of Emeria, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
Mutli: 4 Kitchen Finks, 2 Supreme Verdict, 3 Electrolyze
Colorless: 3 Solemn Simulacrum, 4 Expedition Map, Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, and basically every egg ever
Thanks for any help, and I hope I'm not too picky!
So far I think Nissa is an auto include sense she is green (Like company). I also find the Liliana to be the most fun looking. Putting us at least in G/B.
Any ideas that help?
Disclaimer, I like blue a lot.
Also I really like the Loam+Raven's Crime package because it is actually much more versatile than just the combo. First off, if your yard has been exiled or somehow removed, you can just pick 2 random lands. Due to the nature of the combo you still always get your combo and then a buffer of two lands so you aren't just hoping you dredge into 3 lands... Second, with a Snapcaster Mage in hand, you can chose two instants or sorceries and once gain get your combo and then more spells to use... It has really been a great part of the deck for me in many plays.
You could also theoretically get Rites+Iona+ and Raven's Crime and still get both combos in one stack... but that would take 4 or 5 mana for Unburial Rites 1 for Raven's Crime and if you have no land in hand 2 for Loam (as well as 4 for the Gifts) meaning that would take upwards of 12 mana... Never tried it...
Theoretically that could never happen. It could be the top card, or the bottom card. You don't decide where it is. You could mill him again and again until it works but that may never happen.
2.
You could not just stack the deck (If that's what you're asking). Once again you could shuffle and just never get that card...
No for both.
No need! I love every bit of it! Thank you so much!
EDIT: Your Thalia banner is gorgeous by the way! I love your work!
A lot of times, and this is true for Myr Superion as well, I can turn two a Burning-Tree Emissary in order to cast either Talara's Battalion or Myr Superion. Also, It would be turn 3 usually with dorks (though that would a turn 2 Leatherback Baloth).
The original casual list was:
4 Collected Company
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Bloodbraid Elf
Things to Cheat
4 Myr Superion
4 Talara's Battalion
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Llanowar Elves
Aggro Stuff
4 Goblin Guide
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Stomping Ground
4 Rootbound Crag
4 Wooded Foothills
6 Forest
4 Mountain
The problem with this is that Bloodbraid Elf is banned. But in practice this card is really necessary. It acts as a second Collected Company (4 mana 2 creatures) and with out it the deck is just a bad G/R aggro deck that sometimes cheats out a 5/6. This leaves us with 4 slots that aren't filled.
I also don't like Goblin Guide as a card for this deck. Collected Companing for a 2/2 is just not as fun.
That and the 2 slots I just have empty, I' looking for about 10 cards to help this deck preform.
Suggestion are appreciated!
