All I can say is that at my LGS, the Challenge deck for Theros was hated, mostly by the shop owners who found it tedious to set up over and over. Generally our store has between 40 and 75 players on pre-release days, so I can sympathize with them.
I ended up playing Jeskai colors, got a foil Ojutai (FRF) and a copy of the Blue Regent, 4 other dragons and 4 dragon related cards. Picked up some lockdown type cards, bounce and some draw spells, went 3-2. At my LGS R/B was unplayable. No one got any bomb cards for that combination, most of the R/B players ended up playing other colors. G/W was massively dominating, we had two people got 5-0 with G/W, Only two elder dragons showed up between 40 people.
I don't get it, this set looks just as good as the last two. I think you guys had too high expectations. You are right Anteaterking, some people are acting like spoiled brats about the fetches. The moment they announced Battle for Zendikar, I KNEW we wouldn't be getting them in Dragons of Tarkir, and everyone else should have known this as well. What's worse is that WOTC went out of the way to give you even more chances to get fetches in Fate Reforged, which they didn't have to do at all. And yet people still complain.
The elder dragons look like a lot of fun to me, I think there is a place for most of the cards in this set. Just because we didn't wind up with a ton of overpowered cards Sphinx's Rev, or Tarmogoyf, doesn't make this set "garbage."
I imagine they weren't mentioning fetches because they wanted to keep the speculation on Zendikar down.
I'm very happy with what I've seen so far. The Enemy fetches will be in Zendikar, which of course is right at the end of the summer, I didn't expect they'd be in DTK.
It's only an argument if someone disagrees. The story is pretty stupid. Sarkhan gets sucked away through the time vortex for no reason just to pop out, same as always, somewhere else? That's dumb.
He isn't the same though, his personality is likely going to be very different.
Could this potentially be a product for the Fall Duel Deck? If real, it's beautiful. I can't speak to the source and it's no where near Apri 1. So...who knows?
I hope she is only 2 mana we need a playable 2 mana planeswalker RU
This is simply my personal feeling but Walkers are too powerful to be cost at 2 mana, and, even 3 mana in my opinion. Ashiok at 3 is just a nightmare for me to deal with each week at FNM. Also, speaking of nightmares I keep having flashbacks to that horrid Tibalt who was cost at 2.
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that the points go 3, 9, 13, 18? This seems set up to ensure most people walk away with a "land" which is as of yet unspecified. I personally would be much happier if promos were simply for sale at the prerelease in a limited quantity. If for example the Alt-Art Ugin was 79.99 and each store had, say, 10 of them...

It still has the New Phyrexia Symbol. It's view in the image quite clearly, so it doesn't look to be MM2.
Maro did confirm only two walkers in this set. My bet is on Sarkhan, given the hints that have already been dropped.

Clever!
