I think Ulamog in addition to Titan's Presence will have him seeing play in control/ramp decks. Make a ramp deck with Titan's presence and run a few board wipes and make Ulamog the win con.
I think all you haters will be disappointed at how well this will still sell.
I am not so sure. The pre-order price on Starcitygames went from $300 to $249 overnight for a booster box. That is a dip of $50 simply because of the full spoiler. Many assume this is because of many canceled pre-orders.
It will probably sell ok but to say it will sell "well" I am not sure is the right wording.
And the haters were silenced with MM1 too, because it was a smashing success.
MM2 has a higher EV with more playable rares/mythics. At this point I think people are just complaining to complain (but will still buy it).
I'm not going to be dropping 10 a pack and maybe get back 2 dollars in cards. Idc how many playable mythics are in the set. You still have to pull said mythics, and there are a lot of $1 rares and bad uncommons in the set too.
Pretty much everyone at my LGS that was excited for MM2 isn't now that the spoiler is up. Idk if they will draft or not but I do know people have changed their minds about buying a box.
Well I thought it over and there is really only 2 possible outcomes I personally could see happening.
Boxes sell out in a fairly fast amount of time. Wizards does basically the same with MM3 as they did this time.
Boxes sit on shelves till stores either lower the price or just open them and sell the singles. Wizards blames lack of sales on not enough people with the money to pay a higher price and over printing, so MM3 will be printed in lower numbers.
Wizards isn't going to come out and say we messed up, MM3 will be better than this.
the guys complaining about this set are ridiculous. almost every relevant card got reprinted, path will be fnm promo and so will be serums visons or inquisition. you should keep in mind that this time there are 3 huge limited grand prix so there has to be a goood limited pool. why would you honestly have trash like the urza lands or some boring merfolk ***** in there? the set is perfect as it is.
Well some of us play merfolk in modern, and no Cursecatcher upsets me because 20-30 for a set is stupid. If it isn't repented in Origins or Zendikar it will likely go up instead of down since it wasn't in MM15.
10 a pack is like buying a lottery ticket. Your trying to turn 10 dollars into 100 dollars. But with all the commons and uncommons except for Remand being jank, and a lot of rares being a buck. Your either gonna win big or lose big when you crack a pack.
240 for a box is a bad deal IMO. I'll likely just do a draft or two and hope I pull a money card. Otherwise I'm just gonna wait and see if any singles drop.
I don't agree with calling Ugin overrated. He clears everything and let's you build up his loyality by bolting your opponent each turn. Nitpicking that he can't exile colorless permanents is silly considering Vault is the only relevant colorless card I can think of in Standard. Yes the 8 mana is high but he is meant to be a late game finisher, Vault might do what Ugin does but Vault doesn't stick around after the job to pressure your opponent with 3 damage each turn.
I think this will see Standard play, 6 mana open you can pump him twice and swing with a 6/6. Also your opponent will not want to waste a kill spell knowing you have mana open to just regenerate him.
I hope there are two rares in the seeded pack. Because in the past the seeded pack had the promo that came with your color plus one random rare or mythic of that color that was also in the set. I hope the seeded pack is actually the Khan plus 1 of the clan cards but I'm doubtful this is the case. I do think there needs to be two rares in the seeded pack though, since that has been the case in the past.
The dude kills bears with his hands. I think his 6/6 is fine.
If you want to complain about cards not making sense look at Primeval Titan he has the same power/toughness as Nylea, God of the Hunt But judging by the art it would look like Nylea could simply step on Primeval.
Just a deck I thought might be good in the upcoming meta after rotation hits. I made me some KTK proxies and have been play testing with it a little. At first it was just going to be Orzhov control because I was wary of splashing another color. But with fetchlands coming back like Polluted Delta, putting in blue should be easy. That and after thinking I realized that without dissolve or negate I have no way to protect my win cons from kill spells.
Utter End and End Hostilities inspired me to make this deck. I feel black and white has a lot of removal and it could end up being a force to reckon with.
Btw before anyone goes why Avacyn? I wanted another win con besides Elspeth and she was all that I had on me at the moment.
So far after testing against my Mono Blue deck the results have been mixed. But this was before I decided to splash blue. After testing at my LGS a little the deck def can win, just needs some fine tuning and I believe it will be the best control deck available for the meta.
I will likely take out Sign in Blood and Read the Bones as I actually helped largely in killing myself trying to draw a win con in one of my matches.
I'll add blue and play test with that a little and see how it goes,, then I'll try to update the OP with an actual deck list. I just wanted to list the basic layout of it first.
Well I don't see BUG being control for this Standard like some people at my LGS think. I believe the best control deck available for Standard will be WB.
You realize BUG Control as it stands loses nothing other than spot removal which is only a handful of cards right? BUG can very well play control with the large card pool it already has access too going into rotation. It is really only looking for 1 or 2 cheap spot removal options.
I'm aware BUG Control is playable in Standard and isn't losing hardly anything. What I'm saying is it will not be the best available control deck for competitive Standard. Well I'll hold final judgement until we see all of the Sultai cards, but so far I think BW is better.
Because it does not have a 4CC instant speed Vindicate? This spell is good, but it is not that good. Gods lose a lot of favor in standard moving into KTK and that momentum begins to really dog on the application of this card. Hitting a walker is all fine and dandy, but Downfall is cheaper and artifacts and enchantments are fairly negligible given that the playable enchantments are all creatures and artifacts are absent from the format and in Block. The extra mana really is not worth all that much in the grand scheme of the Standard format and Block Constructed.
The white sweeper is also not even close to being strictly better than AEtherspouts as it first off is not instant and also does not allow you to retain your own board position in the same way Spouts does and if you are in black, spot removal makes spouts even better than the new white sweeper because you get to continually threaten it and react more effectively to opponents playing around your instant speed wrath effect and finally it has tempo gain to boot.
This card is good, but it is not that good.
AEtherspouts is a good card but I still think white has too much to offer with cards like banishing light and Elspeth. Not to mention WOTC has even said Abzan is geared more toward control then the other clans. So I think we will still see some control from them.I honestly am fine with either being the dominate control deck. I don't even know if I will run control this standard. I just have more faith in one more so than the other at the moment.

Other cards I might add
Divination
Dissolve
Negate
