Blackcleave Cliffs is the only fastland we need if you can afford it worth running 4. Also, 3 shocks is fine no need for more. Finally, I wouldn't play more than 1 Ghost Quarter but that's just me.

Recently switched from Midrange to Nahiri and got to say I was pretty impressed. Won all my matches (10 or 11) during the weekend mostly again T1-T2 decks. What do you think on running a second creature MB or SB in case Emrakul get exiled from library? thought about Goblin dark Dwellers or even Cataclysmic Gearhulk, he could help agaisnt go wide decks too. It would Also allow us taking out Emrakul and a couple of Nahiris and still have something to ult.

Personnaly I dont like to run fastland in a deck that mostly rely on a 4 mana PW to win. With the 4 manland having 4 fast is a third (assuming you have 24) of your lands that wont get you Nahiri on turn 4. I understand why people like blackcleave but the downside here is too big IMO.

For the second target if you are on Bob's I would try to keep it at 4 mana ( hero of bladehold, kalithas) if you play wall I like GDD or grave titan alot.

    Hey,

First try to get the 4th bloodstained mire. Also instead of the flooded strand if you have them use delta black is more important.

As mentionned above you have too many shocks 4 is more then enough. Personally I run 1 filter (graven cairns) and 1 check
(Clifftop retreat). Also I would cut 1 GQ.

This is my 24 if it can help you
    4x bloodstained mire
    4x marsh flats
    3x shambling vents
    2x blood crypts
    1x godless shrine
    1x sacred foundry
    1x needle spire
    2x ghost quarter
    1x clifftop retreat
    1x graven cairns
    2x swamp
    1x mountain
    1x plains

Thanks for the list, how is needle spire treating you? I've never had a chance to play it.

Its ok at best, But for now I will keep the 3/1 splits as he provide red and also he is more aggressive then shamblings.

Am I reading Dubious Challenge wrong?

WE look at 10 cards, exile 2 dorks, the opponent chooses 1 of the dorks, the other dork stays exiled, and among the 8 remaining cards, the rest are put into play?

    No sadly,

You exile UP TO 2 cards, the remaining are shuffle back. Then you oppenent chose one and give you the other (if any witch is unlikely). This is gonna be play in a donate EDH tyoe deck

This is my list right now, went 4-0 (jund, jund 4colour, ffinity and dredge) and 4-1 (win against scapeshift, human tribal, bad elves deck, affinity and lost to burn) in the last 2 event I went with it.

I've been playing bob for about 50-60 games for now and even if I was spectical at first it is really good in this deck. 90% of the time he will die to removal in the first 2 turn ( a removal that wont hit your planeswalker or your manlands and if he stick he will give you the game. I lost so far 1 games cuse of him, 2 nahiri and a lili flip, but he gave me at least 10 games.

Also when you think of it, Jund usally play four 4-drop same in here. Sure there is Emrakul, but greatness at any cost after all

The more I play the deck the more I find that Lightning helix is bad in there. We will never burn our oppenent out so for 2 mana I want a removal that will kill Something for sure. The life gain is not that important IMO and anyway Shambling Vent does stabilize us pretty well. Also for now im running each of these only once
    terminate
    path to exile
    dreadbore
    slaughter pact
    Anguished Unmaking
    damnation

Slaughter pact is really good in this as you tap out turn 3 and 4 for Planeswalker

Any of you guys did try waste not in the wall/other random spot? I was looking at all permanent in modern that cost 2 in our colour pie and truly its quite desapointing.

Waste not could give us some needed pressure and blocker and also can give card advantage. I think it could fit with us playing 6 discard spell and 4 lili, also maybe add 1-2 raven's crime

    What you guys think?

Also one of my friend I was playtesting it, did try to convince me that terminate is better then path in this type of deck. He was arguing that we try to deny as much as possible and give them free land its not optimal as they will
be more easy for them to cast their top deck card. He is a good player did perform well in couple of grand prix, usally I listen to him but not convince about that one

And we could slpsh green for just tarmo and decay I guess lol

The more and more I playtest this the more I found that wall of omens is bad. It is situational at best against some deck, I think im gonna go with dark confidant, Ill live with the 2% of game lost due to emrakul.
Also you guys were right I went back to 6 discard 4 were not enough.

And I took out GGD to 2 Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet there are just better and way less mana difficult.

Kitchen FInks seems good MB in a more creature based deck IMO. I can see him in a deck where you would go something like 3x wall of omens 3x kitchen finks 2x restoration angel and
2 goblin dark-dwellers. Trow in there 2-3 kolaghan's command and you have a pretty good start for a midrange deck.

But personnaly I prefer a more control oriented build, so finks is more of a SB option and then it have to compete with Timely Reinforcements. Both card have advantages are are better in different ituation so it would come to playesting to see witch one is the best.

As for why I dont any thoughtseize, my meta is full of suicidde zoo, affinity, eleves and other realy fast aggro deck. I sometimes feel I should play at least a 5th discard spells, but for now my deck is really packed as I should probably try to get back to 24 lands

    Hey all,

Im new to Mardu, been playing Jund and Grixis for a long time but I really wanted to play Nahiri so I switched recently.

    This is my first list going to test next monday at my LGS;
    23 lands
    4x Marsh Flats
    4x Bloodstained Mire
    4x Shambling Vents
    2x Plains
    2x Swamp
    2x Godless Shrine
    2x Blood Crypt
    1x Sacred foundry
    1x Mountain
    1x Fetih heath

    8 Planewalkers
    4x Nahiri
    4x Liliana of the veil

    7 creatures
    4x Wall of omen
    2x Goblin dark-dwellers
    1x Emrakul the Aeons torn

    22 spells
    4x Lightning bolt
    4x Inquisition of Kozilek
    4x Lingering souls
    3x Path to exile
    2x Night's whisper
    2x Lightning Hélix
    1x Dreadbore
    1x Wrath of gods
    1x anguished unmaking

    SB
    2x Relic of progenitus
    2x Timly rinforcements
    2x Blood moon
    1x stony silence
    1x Wrath of gods
    1x Kalithas
    1x Blood Baron of vizkopa
    1x hide-seek
    1x wear-tear
    1x Kolaghan command
    1x Enginneered explosives
    1x Crumble to dust

I know that the 2 *** should probably be damnation but I dont any available right now. And for the playtesting I have been doing so far it was never a concern. Also Im trying night whisper instead of painful as it cost 1 less mana (3 slot is already packed) and also because you can target it with GDD as painful will not get you any card. I have also thought of sign in blood so you can maybe finsh someone of with the 2 life loss but the 2B hurt to much.

    Hi all,
Been lurking in this forum for a while and now that I finally decided to sell of my Merfolk deck I am looking to expand my Blue moon deck to either Jeskai, Esper or Grixis Control (not necessarily as a Upgrade but something to switch it up with.
I assume at least some of you had a similar decisin when building this deck so i´d like to ask what made you choose Grixis Control over the other options?
What are some of the major gameplay differences?
How resiliant do you think this shell is to meta changes?

Also i am looking for a shell that potentially accomodates Thopter Sword, specificly with this in mind, which one do you think does it the best?
Furthermore, how important is Baby Jace in this deck, i see some lists playing 4 other play none, what are the major pros and cons for each version?

If any of you lurk around the other UXX control Threads, i´ll be posting the same question there too^^
    cheers
    Crypto

    Hey,

I did play grixis in modern for almost 3 years now and the deck is quite good at evolving with the meta. When I first play the deck crul control with teaching was the thing, after that a more linear control deck again base on cruel. Then
aot of people start to incorporate twin combo, then last year you could see a more aggro version with delve creature and delver and now people tend to come back to a more control/attrition deck.

I've never really play esper (only gift with reanimation package) but play alot with americain control (jeskai). IMO the pros and cons Grixis vs Americain are:
    Cons:
-less flash creatures. Restoration Angel is one of the main thing why people love jeskai is ability to save creature from spot removal and also nice interaction with snap and clique.
-Gain life In a aggro meta like modern the white mana sometimes miss alot in the grixis shell.
-Combo win possibility, even if its not really play anymore the win game on spot from kiki and resto is always fun to have
-Powerfull planewalker, Alot of deck in modern do have problem to interact with planewalker and Americain have acess to ajani, gideon and elspeth
-powerfull SB option, rest in peace, timely reinforcement, stony silence...

    Pros;
-More recursion, the main reason rigth now IMHO to run grixis is kolaghans command, this card is awsome
-black give acess to disruption, wich let you be proactive instead of reactive like other control deck.
    -great delve creature, mostly tasigur
-For my deck, since no more cryptic less vulnerable to blood moon and smother mana base
-Kalitas, yea since I started to play him I consider that he deserve a spot on his own
-Interaction with liliana and AV, while keep you oppennent top you can regaz yourself by casting AV or from graveyard with GDD

For Jace I love him in a version that play lili has he help with recursion and flip fast. Personnaly I play 2 jace and 3 lili.

And for the combo, if you want to be the biggest part of your deck you should loke for the tezzret agent of bolas deck.

    Here is my list:
    http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/06-04-16-grixis-midrange/

I'm not quite sure about whether or not to keep Liliana of the Veil. Lots of the time, I dont want to use her +1. But its good when the opponent is topdecking. The -2 is useful as well, but not that great when aggro is swarming.

Personnaly I would not remove her. I find she bring so much to the list since I started to sleeve her. her +1 does sometimes seem to be bad, but when your playing GDD, k-command, Snapcaster its not so bad. For her -2
ots not insane against swarm deck but its still better then counter spell. If you land her and use her -2 the next turn one the attacking creatures will attack her if they are not lethal, so she help you in gaining time.
