The End of an Era

That makes sense, though kind of makes me less interested in the block. While I'm sure it will be very pretty steampunk just isn't much for me at least. Kind of a shame given the last two blocks weren't really to my taste either, though at least the new paradigm means moving a bit faster.

Hoping I'm wrong, it's hard to tell with so little still. It's possible I'm judging too early, but I am doubtful on that.

India theme is nice, but I'm not interested in the Artifact theme. If it winds up delving into the India theme a lot I'll be happy, but I'm worried it'll only be to the extent there is an Eastern European theme in Ravnica, aka not very much in terms of the focus.

I understand why Christianity is the focus, I just found it interesting still is all.

I do find it kind of interesting that most of the arguments tend to only apply when looking at it strictly from Christianity/monotheistic religions typically. Not really wanting to dive into the debate forum, but it's interesting to read people's responses on the subject, and it kind of prompted my five cents on the thing.

I am still waiting for the polar opposite of Baneslayer Angel to appear in Dragon Form. Maybe we will get one in this block lol.

So a 5/5 flying, trample, haste (just picked some random red options) with Protection from Angels and Sphinxes? Seems like kind of an odd card to me.

And I'll be a bit miffed if we get no angels this set as well. Although angels aren't really a traditionally Eastern thing, they could always look at inspiration from something similar and make them work. There are some options I can think of off the top of my head that could work. But I am doubtful as to it happening. I suppose it showing up in the Rare section is possible, but doubtful, though that could be too late as well.

Why would Ugin be Bant colored? Especially when one of the few cards to reference him is Red, even if treated like colorless? In all likelihood he'll either be Jeskai, Jeskai but treated as colorless, or colorless. I'm betting on the former two.

I'm not sure about the rest, but you can move the wedge charms to the first category. They aren't going to do any number of them except all five (I suppose a hypothetical sixth charm or such is possible, but immensely unlikely, more the point is all the clans will get one).

I doubt a new Sarkhan this set, but I suspect Narset may be a Planeswalker too. Ugin seems likely too.

The three most popular in the poll are the three clans with blue in them, with Jeskai being top because it seems the "most blue". Rolleyes

I like Jeskai the most because it fits my three colors. If it had been White-aligned or Red-aligned I still would have voted for it.

  • posted a message on Return to Theros ~ Greek again or Roman?
I could see them adding more Roman things, but there is still lots they can do Greek-wise. I can't see them doing a specifically Roman set, it doesn't feel like it'd carry it's own weight. Or at least not one based on it's mythology, maybe it's history I suppose.

I hope the eye is symbolic, I have a hard time seeing that looking good. But that sounds like a good idea.

Some people just want to be unhappy it seems. This is big news. Not quite the news I was expecting, but at least it isn't "Reprinting Fetchlands" or a number of other things brought up. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. I do feel mildly disappointed that there will be more reprints, but I'm wanting to see how it all pans out before I decide.

That and Red can hate on people playing Enchantments too. Maro said that players casting enchantments and taking damage is fine for Red too. So it'd be in line with the other effects. It just can't kill it.

I think variance is good, but I don't see anything wrong with trying to prevent mana screw/mana flood. Honestly I think I may try the draw ten approach, I'll bring it up with my boyfriend in a little bit. Variance is a really good thing, but I wouldn't say that screw/flood are what I'm looking for when I think of variance, they're just a byproduct of that goal.

I really hope that the "best" scenario isn't what happens. Talking about fetch lands or lands in general sounds so vastly anticlimactic and dull that it would absolutely crush any interest I have in the topic.
