I find it weird that people think this is ruining Kaldheim.

You are now invested in the fate of Kaldheim. You don't want the plane to fall to the phyrexians. There are now real stakes. You are emotionally involved.

This is a good thing, story telling wise. Was Lord of the Rings ruined for you when Frodo left the shire and came in contact with the Nazgul for the first time and there was now the real possibility that he could die or be injured?

I don't get this. The magic multiverse is way too much a museum of planes rather than an ecosystem of planes as it is. More interconnectivity and agents for change are a good thing in my book. (And we all know that if enough people like Kaldheim, it will not fall to the phyrexians because brand beats storytelling.)

I am less emotionally invested honestly. So you’re not really making an accurate prediction of what people are like. Further now that place is inevitably less Kaldheim, which makes me less invested as well.

If it's so common because it's been done with Amonkhet and Zendikar then it shouldn't really be a surprise that the plane will be more than one note

Something being common isn’t exactly a good argument, especially as more planes do actually keep their integrity. This should have been one, but instead we waste another top down plane.

A lot of people really don’t seem to get that adding Phyrexians inevitably shifts the focus of a set. It’s just like Amonkhet where we didn’t get Egyptian alone, we got that + Bolas. Or Zendikar hasn’t been Zendikar alone for a good chunk of the sets, it’s that + Eldrazi. At best this is just a prelude for the next one but that doesn’t make it better, it just means next time instead of this time it’ll be Phyrexians crowding out space.

It seems pretty obvious to me that this is just teasing the future Phyrexian threat to come and not the core conflict of this set. Not sure why so many people are getting bent out of shape over this.
And this is a great card. It’s not as oppressive as the original but it’s still very useful and powerful. This is how they should be designing powerful legendaries.

Because even if this is the only card this set it means future visits to the plane are ruined.

Justice being a thing of moral rightness is exactly why it isn’t Black. Black is amoral.

Yes nearly everyone in their pantheon dies, but always at hands of another god or being like Fenrir, Jormungandr, etc. It'll be interesting to see them dying to 4 squirrel tokens. Maybe all its Ratatoskr, his two twin brothers (huh?), and Loki disguised as Ratatoskr. Maybe a human wearing armor made of mistletoe?

Sure, but the point is they’re all mortal. It doesn’t take another God to kill them, without the apples they’d even just die of old age (I believe, I can’t recall the specifics of the apples off the top of my head). Granted, Gods in general usually aren’t immortal in mythology, and it is a rather narrow thing to try to keep in place.

I guess Gods are mortal now. At least this one is mortal.

They are Norse deities, so I’m not surprised. Ragnarok is a big part of Norse mythology after all.

More woke garbage. So how long before we get pink and purple as official colors to the mana pie? Jfc

You know, I wasn't previously all that into the idea of adding purple, but you know, now I might just be on board with it. What a good idea.
    Please keep the suggestions coming.

If it helps clear house it certainly helps. Wonder what those colors could represent for maximum removal.

You say that and then we get multiple people saying that they're tired of seeing so many black people. So idk maybe it's not as crazy as you like to pretend it is
He wanted more Latin representation. He's correct for calling out WOTC for thinking representation is only about extremes. That said, Kaya is a Planeswalker, not a native of this plane, she can appear anywhere. And he was called out for suggesting representation is mutually exclusive, which it isn't. That was the flaw in his argument, not "racism."

Except...that wasn't what he said in full. And I think you know that.

It is perfectly reasonable to want more Latino characters and to express that desire. What is unacceptable is to then blame that lack of Latino representation on WotC's deliberate choice to try to represent more Black folks and folx better. It's not mutually exclusive.

I actually am a Canadian conservative queer, but what you and many similar commentators are communicating here isn't really conservatism, nor is it an argument grounded in logic, or good faith.

    Its just rage mate.

There's nothing wrong with Kaya being the lead of this set. She's well-costumed and equipped for the plane. I adore her.

It is awesome to have a human planeswalker like Nico, who can better represent Non-binary folx. Nonbinary robots and monsters are hard to relate to.

We have a Latino Planeswalker. His name is Teyo. Teyo and Huatli will not be the last planeswalkers to better represent Latin American ethnicities.
    Teyo info

We have a new, red-headed, Scandinavian-looking Elven Planeswalker who is native to the plane of Kaldheim.

And that’s what I’ve started doing. It’s just too out of hand and the mods need to intervene.

Y'all really sounding like Jussie Smollett with these delusions.

The idea that far-right groups use Norse symbology is a demonstrable fact. The actual Nazis used a bunch of them- the whole idea of the Aryan race was linked with this sort of history.
    This isn't a debatable point.
Reaching sis. Y'all looking for racism anywhere you can find it, and inventing/baiting it anywhere you can't. Spare us your white guilt, not all of us are American, and creating new people to bully (even your own) isn't changing the past, but retooling those sins to create new victims. You haven't seen real oppression in the modern era, and you shouldn't want to. Your intentions are admirable, but it's really holding us all back by reviving old tensions. It's very convienent for liberals to occupy the nation with old, dated and mostly expired racial emotions (tried and true) to overlook how increasing taxes for them to pocket hasn't actually made any difference except create new avenues for our bloated government to curiously churn out millionaire politicians.

You’re talking an awful lot on a matter you clearly know nothing about. If you had any involvement in polytheist matters you’d... well, I would like to say realize how wrong you are but you sticking your head in the sand could be a thing too. It’s far, far too prominent.

I figured that was on purpose honestly. I wonder if we will see both divine factions.

According to the article the Elves are the Einir. So yes?

I meant actual legitimate with the God creature type.

Jace, Liliana, Gideon, and Chandra tilt the scales enough I imagine. Especially as those aren’t the only ones who qualify. We could go through every instance of face cards from the original Zendikar onward, but between that and the sheer quantity I don’t see it turning out to be amazing for your argument. Though that said the entire point is to try and balance the scales better.

No one said liking those makes you racist, just that they are stolen by Nazis and it’s honestly not something you can guarantee. Certain things are more likely than others to be dog whistles but as someone fairly strongly involved in the polytheist community it’s something that is a major issue.
