60-40 is ok if you have a list not tailored for the matchup, I was just ticked by free bye.
After that match I lost to the second S&T, 1:2, Merfolk Trickstered his Emmy but he had second for Sneak.
That brings me to 6-2 in matches against S&T in the last 7 days (I feel like everyone plays it).
Update on the tournament, beat Infect and lost 1-2 to Turbo Reanimator (had onelander with Vial but he resolved turn one Chancellor and I could never cast anything). If that continues I will bring back 2 Flusterstorms in the side because it is shame to lose to combo with Merfolk.
Legacy challenge started half an hour ago, I just beaten Show and Tell
Game 1 he won the die roll and managed to attack me with Grizzly and Emmy before my Vial would go to 2 with Image in hand, so I lost.
Game 2 I filled the board with more than 6 permanents and expected his Emmy trigger, except I had Vial at 2 so my Emmy triggered on my attack.
Game 3 I let his Show resolve (no counterspells) so my Venser returned his Emmy. Meanwhille his Lavamancer were whittling down my forces that charged his every turn (TNN in the side). We had counterwar over Sneak Attack and I lost but he was tapped out. I attacked him to 4 and after attack played 2 Vials to bring my permenent count to 9 (Venser, 2 Mutavaults, 4 lands and 2 Vials) hoping his last card is Emmy. "Luckilly" it was, so after his last ditch effort I was left with Venser, Muta and Island with both of us at 4 life.
Why do you think Sneak and Show is on that list?
We are loaded with counterspells and even have Images (with Vial) to copy whatever they have.
After sideboard we can have any number of Venser, Flusterstorm, Clique or Spyglass as we need.
Mistcaller is too narrow. If they Show and you sac, they can put Sneak Attack or Omniscience out. If they resolve and activate Sneak and you sac, they can just do another activation in response.
Even Merfolk Trickster is better since it taps Emrakul before attack and taps Grizzly after it drains his master for enough when they counted on lifelink.
"Free bye" could not be further from the truth.
Dazes were good, they are probably staying.
Harbingers are to fight Delvers and return them after Chalice, not sure that was enough.
Problem was missing another cantrip like modern Seas, I should have Copter (to ditch useless Chalices and Vials) or even Seas to up the blue cards count and make Lords relevant against nonblue decks.
But I was pleasently surprised by Back to Basics, those alone were ggs in many games.
Well, at least we played well. Anyway, back to Merfolk.
I have Pptq next Sunday, brainstorming my list for expected 42 people tournament (lgs max).
2 Conclave (not sure what to think of them), 3 Pierce and 3 Dismember version.
Since people from other countries are also coming there is no expected meta.
3 Deprive, 3 Relic, 2 Spyglass, 2 Rejection, 2 Gut Shot, 2 Truth and Tidebinder is my current setup.
What would you do?
I played tournament this Friday, lost to Legion Loyalist.dec (Bushwhackers, Bolts, Grenades, the stuff of nightmare), nothing can block, I just rolled over.
Then won against Bant Spirits, Devoted Company, Jeskai Ctrl and Mardu Pyro, for second place.
Today I managed to lose to a bye (Living End, has to happen every 2 years) and forgot to attack in the mirror with one creature (I died with him at 1 life).
The mirror opponent then went to finals where everything stopped.
Our country is in the Fifa 2018 World Cup finals and it will start in 20 minutes. We got kicked from the store so people can go and watch
Decks are recorded so that there will be no changes for the finals next week (Merfolk vs Ponza).
Come to think of it, his scenario couldn't happen anyway. Kumena couldn't tap itself to draw the card turn 3. There's only one that works, where he gets 3 CMC-1 merfolk out the first two turns. So that's 7 of 9 or 10 cards needed for his combo. And he's still tapping out.
Kumena works just like Grand Architect, you can use him right away, even with summoning sickness. I am drawing with Kumena, or attacking, or pumping, depending on the board, my hand and my role in the match.
Bear is mtg slang for several decades.
2 near misses, but I am satisfied since pros are testing for the PT and I still have more 70% wins, which is fine for nonexisting deck.

Missed top8 on tiebreakers, unfortunately.
But I had fun spanking all other Island.decs.
