All I know is that most good BGx players board out Lilly against us.

I don't play the Jund or I guess now it's Junk match much but in my experience they've left Liliana in. Anger into Liliana goes a long way into locking up the board for them even though it's possible to come back from.

I side out all IoK and most lily/abrupt decay

usually just get a BoP with lily. Ill usually leave in one for the super late game. But if you ever draw multiple lily before turn 4-5 its usually just GG if you have a bird/hierarch.

Hallowed Burial is really good against pod.
    So it Pillar of Flame.

@both Throst and Finkllestein, you both seem to aiming to typically make very aggressive plays, I'd never animate a land or a tec edge before having rhino mana up (if not a sieze+rhino), and I'd probably just wait to decay a dork on the play, is it really worth dismembering a dork that bad against pod?

I'm coming over from 4c gifts, which is a bit slower--so maybe I'm just playing too conservatively. I will switch one path to a dismember though, seems like a good move, though I really don't hate it as much as people in this thread do.

I also run a batterskull main, I'm still pretty uncomfortable not leaning on the more control side of the BG spectrum. I like it, and games do get grindy.

Part of the deck is knowing when to switch from playing the control roll to the aggro roll.
Also, we teat apart the opponents hand and try to make them 'stumble' so to speak and not be able to curve out.
We like to curve out, and when we do so well it puts a huge about of pressure on the opponent. When you path you smooth out their draw and let them curve out better and help them keep up.

    @nzb
I was thinking the same thing about obliterator.
Here's the problem I found. You almost always punt the affinity matchup, even with using as many as 3 slots for creeping corrosion. With white the matchup gets a lot better with stony and lingering souls. 3 slots for 1 matchup is too much imo.
Rhino really fufills the same roll anyways.

I played a singleton path last night, and hated it everytime i drew it.

with 4 rhinos you play 25 lands.
If you really want to play less go for it, just dont come and complain when you lose b/c you dont hit your land drops consistently enough. Tec edges and man lands dont stay around long anyways.

Finks, course, and Rhino can be 2-for-1 and block targets. Bitterblossom is unnecessary with souls.

Besides that, your list has bitterblossom over Goyf. Goyf is much more valuable to this deck.

I definitely know that. But I wasn't playing when Goyf was printed, nor when modern masters was drafted, so no goyfs for me and don't have budget for them. Then, trying to keep up with what I've got. I have confidants, but I feel like testing blossoms atm, at least until the new B&R list. I have Finks on the Goyf slot. Ideally I'd be playing Confidants and Goyfs, or in this meta Blossoms and goyfs, but I don't have them, so this is as much as I can do. I'm not really convinced about Hooting Mandrills, though they could be benefical.

The point is, I'm not trying to replace goyfs for blossoms. I'm trying to see how it goes with blossooms over confidants in the current metagame, since it seems to me that having a progressive wider battlefied looks like a better advantage over time.

I am not here to say 'HEY YOU! PLAY BITTERBLOSSOM OR DIE!'. I'm just trying to share my thoughts and maybe get some feedback out of it.

He gave you feedback. Goyf is literally better than BB there in most metagames.
BB doesnt replace bob well. If your goal is to replace bob start with courser and rhino, then look at finks and planeswalkers.

grafdigger's cage deals with birthing pod in a unique enough of a way that i always want atleast 1 in my SB.

    our best enchantments removals are:
seal of primordium pumps goyf, lets you lay it down and continue your board state so you dont have to leave mana up. Bad against pod if they rip their 1of Rec sage. Great against blood moon.
golgari charm very versatile sideboard card, good if you have a lot of supreme verdicts and token decks.
deglammer / unravel the aether strictly for wurmcoil engine and keranos. If they arent in your meta, you probably want something more versatile
back to nature really narrow, but gets the job done.
maelstrum pulse maindeckable, not bad in the SB either
fracturing gust one of those very flexible but expensive to cast sideboard cards that I really like

Revelry does less damage than any card theyre siding out, so its not a huge deal. Also, this is the reason why its good to diversify your sideboarding options. G2 you might see bow, and g3 you might just see kor firewalker and/or timely- or the opposite.

If youre running 1-2 bow 1-2 Kor Firewalker and 1-2 Timely its a whole lot harder for them to properly sideboard against you.
Also, make sure you always side in golgari charm and leave in maelstrum Pulse against them. You never know when you'll run into a Leyline of Punishment let alone blood moon.

Any experienced player of abzan pod know how the matchup is against Junk? As the junk player I always feel like the underdog, what are some good hosers that really turn the game around for the junk player? Just wanted to see the pod perspective and wanted to hear how junk beats pod in general...

I usually side out all Inquisition of Kozileks, and some number of abrupt decays and lilianas.
The cards I want to see against you are Bob, scavenging ooze, goyf, and mass removal.

The matchup is pretty equal, it really hinges on whether or not there is an active pod.

GB is possible, it makes your mana better and lends you to being more aggressive out of the gate because you can run 4 treetop.
The maindeck lifegain is considerably less w/o Rhinos and without lingering souls your affinity matchup is so bad you have to run 3 creeping corrosion.
Outside of vapor snag though, zoo has no real way to deal with Phyrexian Obliterator if you choose to go that route.

If it just cost issues, theres no reason why you cant play BG while you wait to pick up the white portion of the deck. You would probably just be forced to run something awkward like a finks/courser/bow of nylea package maindeck (assuming no obliterator)

I think I'd rather play something like 3 Timely Reinforcements and a Baloth or two before I ran 4 Leylines against Burn. Leyline still doesn't stop them completely and it doesn't catch you up from behind when they've already burned you down and you draw it past your opening hand. I would think a 4-pack of lifegain spells would be just as good as the randomness of Leyline, while still having applications elsewhere.

Kor Firewalker isnt a horrible SB option other. hitting double white isnt too hard. t1 fetch a shock tapped into fetch basic plains Firewalker is strong. Its better than Dragon Claw in that it can block (and kill) everything in burn.
You can also run a mix of like 2 firewalker/2 timely.
Shocking yourself to get firewalker out into t3 timely is pretty good :p

you need more red fetches or more ways to get your other colors.
any red fetches will do though
