brasswire posted a message on Return to Ravnica!Posted in: Magic StorylineQuote from BarinellosHowever, there are still elements about the return which absolutely do not make sense.... mostly dealing with the Orzhov and the Selesnyans. I would list the Simic but they appear to be getting a major facelift.
As much as some of us enjoy the story elements, I think we do have to understand that the story is not the most important thing in Magic. If the story has to be sacrificed in order to make the game better, they are perfectly willing to do that and I can't blame them. I wish they would just do a better job of storytelling in the first place and not paint themselves into these corners, but they don't seem to be able to avoid them unfortunately. -

rancored_elf posted a message on [RAV] Dark Confidant Final TextI'm impressed with the card overall. I think the art's kinda silly, but I don't mind black art that isn't grotesque and geared toward 12 year old boys who think guts and exploding brains are cool. It looks a bit dark, but also a bit sinister. The power level of the card is fairly high. Those people who are saying it sucks are probably newbies, Timmies, or both. This is an easy, splashable, second turn beater which comes with the bonus of drawing you twice as many cards as normal. Considering a deck with a fairly low curve (25% swamps, 25% 1cc, 25% 2cc, and 25% 3cc) you're taking an average 1.5 damage per turn. That's NOTHING for the advantage he provides. How much extra power do you expect on a 2/1 for :symb:? What should it cost, :symb:? You're crazy if you don't see how efficient this is. Losing life, in black aggro (or even black control) isn't the end of the world. Drawing 2 cards a turn, starting from your 3rd turn, is a huge advantage that can't be overlooked. You're drawing stuff like creature removal, more weenies, and perhaps even creature pump, and you're going to win the game with it. I'd be GLAD to cast this guy in multiples. Beating down for 4 a turn, plus drawing 3 cards... doesn't matter if you take 3 damage per turn. And of course, that 1.5 damage per turn is just an average, and doesn't take into effect any kind of library manipulation. Plus, he's a Wizard, which can have its uses in the right deck as well.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
As for the set symbol, I agree that it's a guildhouse building. This set is going to be ALLLLL about the guilds, baby.
Quote from jarsyl »Wow. 81. That's Ridiculous. That's a lot of gold. (Or a lot of land but I'm doubting that. Or artifacts but we just had mirrodin. Or something else entirely like split cards but you get the point.)
Yeah, that's a lot of gold, but we're expecting that. We know it's the new "multicolor" block. Of course, expect them to put a spin on it, because if they just did a total rehash of Invasion, people would be very disillusioned, and would probably be driven off the game in crowds. So it'll have gold, but it'll be unique and interesting. I agree with whoever said 37 cards per colour - probably 15 commons, and then another 24 split between uncommons and rares... 12 and 10 probably. Ahhh, number crunching... isn't it fun? I think there'll be 10, possibly 15 nonbasic lands, and of course the 20 basic lands as well. I also think there'll be a decent showing of Artifacts, because we're beyond Mirrodin now, and it's safe to flood the T2 scene with new Artifacts now. Also, we're not on an Artifact "hunger strike" like we were before Mirrodin block came out, so we'll see a good number - 20, maybe 25. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

FoxxyEDarko - Another cool card. Perfect rarity.
AsianInvasion - The cost is too low. This just wrecks token and white weenie. Mighty, but not fair.
Brofaux - Not really a color hoser...
Atrius - This doesn't work as you think it does.
Small Child - No IIW.
Ninja Caterpie - Not exactly a color hoser...
Prophylaxis - Not a color-hoser strictly. Anyway, this card is weak, not mighty: the cost is too late for this kind of effect and green has better mana acceleration.
BladewingX - No IIW.
ced395 - Cool counter! Indirect color-hoser, gives advantage to friendly colors.
k-rad - As two-color hoser, this is too powerful. Lightning Bolt your Titans? I would like it better as a mirror for Kor Firewalker.
Cythare - Cool card! I wouldn't make it a "choose a color". Instead, "white and green" would be fine.
The Most Curious Thing - This doesn't work as you think...
indigni - I like this idea, but is not as powerful as you think. 1R would be a better cost, or I would probably invert the effects.
Atogaholic - Sphere of Law? Not exciting.
WINNER: ced395
NEXT CHALLENGE: Parallel desin.

Sorcery
Name a card. Target opponent puts the top five cards from his or her library into his or her graveyard. If the named card was put into a graveyard this way, draw three cards. Otherwise, draw a card.
What your mind hide is irrelevant. What your heart hides is important.
If I win, next challenge is to create a card representing a new sentient animal-like creature type (like Leonin or Aven).
