So every few weeks or so I pick a TV series and watch the whole thing. This time I picked MacGyver.

Background ; I actually watched the show when it was first on TV when I was a kid. Fun show. But around season 4-5ish I saw an episode that made me stop watching. He stops a large sulferic acid leak with chocolate. While MacGyver's science is moderately stratched from time to time, this my little grammar school mind would not accept and I still laugh at. It really destroyed the shows plausability for me.

So I am watching the Pilot episode. There is an acid leak.

    I am like "uhhh"

Then he finds a pile of chocolate bars....

Seems the epsiode that killed MacGyver for me was a rerun of the pilot.

    ....

I had explained this to jenny before the show started, what made me stop watching.
She couldn't stop giggling. It was hilarious.

To a small degree I can see somewhat of botchplz point. Your name, the cute emotes in the title, choice of the word chiao. These can be viewed as staples of 15 year old attention *****ish waifs But had he taken a moment to read your whole post he would have realized you are far more complex than that. Judging a book by its cover so to speak.

If you wear my size I'm stealing your shoes.

But he can't "fail to find" a card that is actually in his deck while performing a search, can he?

    Yes he can

If its a Demonic Tutor he has to find something though, because it is none specific and it is clear he has cards in his deck.

That is also why you can choose to find just a single Gaea's Blessing with Gifts Ungiven just to shuffle your graveyard and why Guided Passage says Reveal.

Other than revealing his library to me, there is no way to prove either way how many legal targets are in his deck.

    My point and actual question is different from this point though;

When he storms Dragonstorm, he has four copies on the stack that resolve individually. He chooses to use a shortcut (allowed under the rules) and search only once to save time. He reveals three dragons. Since he only searched once as a shortcut, i cannot tell him to search a fourth time because he already compressed his resolutions of Dstorm into one action. But since he could legally retrieve four dragons and only grabbed four, am I under obligation to tell him to get a fourth. Under the rules for tutoring, it is generally acceptable that he can choose not to find a fourth or I can even asume the Dragon was in his hand.

No, if a zone being searched is hidden and the target is defined by specific guidelines the rules make finding something optional. So if someone plays Bribery on you and the only creature in your deck is Phage the Untouchable you cannoy force them to choose it. The reason for this is because it is impossible to enforce finding a valid target without searching the deck again (yourself). If someone uses a fetchland, you cannot search their deck to prove they had a Swamp to fetch with the Polluted Delta.

That is moot though, this is not a question on whether he has to find something.

He used a shortcut and searched once for all dragons rather than four individual searches. If he hadn't shortcutted I am responsible to tell him to search a fourth time, but since he grabbed three at once as what is listed in the rules as "an acceptable shortcut" i must assume he only has three.

Firstly, typical "i am sure of the answer to this"

    Ok

Opponent plays Rite of Flame, Seething Song, Seething Song, Dragonstorm. He only puts three hellkites into play. He shortcuts and searches his library all at once and puts them into play at once.

It is not my responsibility to tell him to get another Dragon because it is a hidden zone and the card has specific guidelines to search for, thus it is optional to find it and no game state is disrupted. Correct?

They didn't randomly lay claim to accesories, the culture invented most of the wardrobe. They are tools. We don't see people randomly walking down the street with hammers and drills unless they use them. Of course not, it is clear that a drill is for drilling things and a hammer for hammering things. If you see someone carrying said tools, you can assume to 90% accuracy alot of things about them. It sends a clear message that they are someone that uses those tools. Fetish-wear is not clothing and accesories, it is uniform and tools. If someone is dressed in a police uniform or has a badge and a gun, you should be able to assume they are a cop.

This is the difference between Fetish culture and most cultures. The wardrobe grows from the uniforms and tools of the trade.

    Here is the difference;

    1) Something as simple as wearing a rather common primary color is barely comparable to a specific piece of clothing that is associated with a specific activity.

    2) Gangs will attack you for wearing their colors. This is an attack. Someone into BDSM may assume you are a sub if you wear the trappings of a Sub and things may get out of hand. This is not an attack.

    3) Getting attacked for gang colors is not preventable by educating yourself. The things they may choose to attack you for are rather varied and everyday and very mundane. Fetish gear is very unique and not so ambiguous.

Attacking someone because they wear certain clothes is wrong in every way, but acting on the signals being wsent to you that someone is a responsive sub is perfectly normal.

No, it is not the fault of the victem when an attack of any kind happens. That is not at all what I am trying to say. But comparing Fetish gear to gang colors is in no way a valid comparison. It is a huge stretch. It should be obvious to anyone that the clothes they wear send a signal and they need to be as responsible as possible for the signal they are sending, regardless of what that signal is.

The comment about the chinese characters is the best example. People get chinese characters on clothes and as tatoos, and because they have no real clue often wind up with characters which in no way mean what they are intended. Or they grab them at random. Wow, this has Chinese characters on them...they are so cool. Look how cool i am. For a clue of just how bad these poorly understood signals can be, go here ; http://www.engrish.com/ You can see it from the point of view of the Chinese person reading your tatoo or shirt

There is more to the outfit you wear than just how cool you think it makes you look.

There is a difference. Gangs operate on an illegal part of society as well.

Fetsih and Goth culture do not. There is a difference between being hurt by an illegal activity or a legal activity.

Wear what you want, just know what the message is you may be sending is all i mean. And wear it for the right reasons ; Is it because you like it or because you want others to like you?

You do not have to be into BDSM to wear a color, but it is a good idea that you at least understand what BDSM is and the signal you will be sending to people. Most clothing, it really is not a big deal, but bondage wear could get you in trouble. If you are sending the signal that you are into BDSM and a Sub, then that nice girl or boy you meet at the bar might hurt you bad...and unintentionally. They could assume that you are into it and act accordingly. Think of all the joke scenes in movies where some innocent character winds up in some dominatrix's dungeon; and fighting and resisting is what a Sub is generally expected to do in many cases so they may not fully realize you are serious when you say no.

Most clothes it really doesn't matter so much whether you understand the message you are sending, but Bondage is the one subculture where No generally means Yes for real. If you at least have a moderate grasp of the culture then you have a better chance of telling when someone is seeing you as a potential Sub and what to say to make them really realize you aren't playing when you say No.

@Maverick ; not completely true. There are too kinds of Goths. The ones who are trying to fit in, and those who at some point look at thir existing style in music and clothes and whatever else and realize "OMG I am a Goth". The latter are generally the true Goths. This is the reason why Goth fashion is varied in comparison to so many other subcultures, it is because while most fashion trends come from those within the clique, Goth culture comes from those without who find that they really are actually within.

I actually had somewhat of a discussion on this with Gloomy last night. Both of us have had had trouble finding anywhere decent subs/doms (each of us needing a different thing) because there is such a poor understanding of the culture and most people who think BDSM is cool have no idea what it is. Most people whom I have been with get lost if you go any farther than tieing their wrist or a blindfold or playful spanking...and yet Bondage has become fashionably trendy.

The way you dress should send a message. Wearing Bondage and Fetish gear indicates you are into that, so people really should not wear it unless they are trying to attract people who are actually into the scene.
