I started playing before Urza's Saga and the hidden enchantments were some of my favorite cards, just for flavor really. I've had a soft spot for them ever since. This one seems quite fine in creatureless blue white control.
That's bad design. If it gains deathtouch that's your incentive to not block. Then taking away the choice makes things less interesting. Also the colors would lend itself more towards deathtouch + Lure anyway.
Not everything is about attacking... could you imagine an ability that is useful one way when attacking, useful a different way when blocking? Could you conceive of that? Maybe an made-ability you read recently would be just that. Maybe.
Weirdly, it's a feel bad this way, an "or" would actually feel better than an "and", even though it's less powerful it's more obvious that sometimes one is right and sometimes the other.
It would. It is a.) an ability that b.) targets c.) one land.
Don't know if the 10 mana combo is worth it to get all your lands enchanted (if you can flicker the Performer you can do it every turn because lands can hold multiple of those enchantments), but go for it ^^
I feel like if you are in Naya enchantments then there's no harm in running the Performer. There are enough cantripping auras that copying them is a good draw strategy.
Crucible of Exploration seems like a fair investment of 1GG
So, green gets the best blue charm and the best black enchantment green-shifted in the same set. Maybe Esper legends won't be the default option after release?
In limited at least, I think the card incentivize asymmetric piles like 1/4, as either a big evasive creature can be rapidly lethal or a bunch of cards can be too much advantage. Is it mythic-worthy though? In consytructed, for a split like 3/2, jace's ingenuity plus a 2/2 flyer is good, but not dominating. Especially since they can give you the worse pile and a 3/3 if need be.
There will be corner cases where it is really good, but giving your opponent a choice rarely pays off.
I mean,it's Fact or Fiction plus upside. A card which spawned the meme "Fact or Fiction, I win". So, there's that?
no it isn’t - you split piles, opponent chooses. And in any case, that hasn’t been true of FoF for quite a while.
I still kinda like this, but it is 5 mana for what is never quite what you want.

Power 2 or less is a rather friendly restriction given that some notable cards like Karmic Guide fall quite happily into that group. Yes, I get that the cost still needs to be paid but CA in white is CA in white.
Little? He's a chonk and a thing of beauty. Plus, I feel like he will play well with others. Who's a good possum?
You're probably right, but It's still cute.

However, it does ask for a certain amount of self mill or looting.

Would help if I RTFC, wouldn't it?
