While its true that the New Deal didn't save the country from the Great Depression, I think you guys are overlooking many important things it did. First of all, it did soften the effects of the depressions, which is important, considering what could've happened. The many public works projects it instituted helped build solid, modern infrastructure that the nation needed and could grow on post war. Most importantly, I think, it set the stage for a time of general American prosperity from around post war to the 1970s. Many of his social programs and reforms allowed the gap between the rich and poor to decrease and the allowed the American middle class to prosper, something we're sorely missing right now.

I don't even get this far. I follow the instructions (remove ethernet from laptop, plug it into Internet port on the router; plug packaged ethernet cable into the port on the laptop and into the first ethernet port on the router; plug the router in) but when I do, the setup wizard tells me the ethernet cable is not connected properly. When I'm sure that they are.

The sick thing is that I set up a few wireless networks before and this is the first one to give me trouble at the physical installation stage.

I've had problems like this with every single router I've tried to install. Usually, just rebooting the modem helps. Also, are you sure the router is plugged into a power source? Out of curiosity, what router are you using?

You'll want to set up your wireless router as you normally would connecting it to your modem. You'll probably have to attach your laptop to it with Ethernet for the set up part. After confirming you have the router set up properly you can do 2 things. 1) the router should have multiple Ethernet ports, so you can run another Ethernet cable from it to your ps3. 2) Also, you can disconnect your laptop and use it wirelessly.

I really only started paying attention to political matters at or around the latter part of the Clinton years, so my knowledge of political history is somewhat lacking. But I can tell you from my point of view that Obama has definitely gotten the better coverage from the "Liberal Media". When was the last time he got a hard question? One that he didnt have to stammer over for 5 minutes before he spits out an answer thats not quite an answer, but something pretty sounding enough and just confusing enough for people to think hes really a deep thinker. Never thats when.

Which means you've been paying no attention what so over. The media has given McCain a free pass on almost every single lie that he and Palin are pushing.

@mystery45: first, its pretty clear that trickle down economics (tax cutting) doesn't work, and is not going to work. Furthermore, there are many other factors that affect the economy and the economic well being of the American people. Such as regulation of certain sectors of business. Regulation, which has been proven to benefit the economy, is something Obama would bring that McCain would not.

Actually, it's more along the lines of the right to have money. Just because you happen to work hard and earn a good wage, doesn't mean that the government has the right to say "Yeah, you earn alot, so we're going to force you to pay for these five people to get free medical care."

    snip

As has been said before, the vast majority of wealthy people in this country owe their success in part to the government/society. Without the society we have here, most of these people would not be where they are today.

Think of it this way, the government invests in its citizens with programs and laws in place that allow them to live "The American Dream." Taxes are a way of government getting a return on their investment.

didn't the article say the once causing the violence were self described anarchists? Why should Obama apologize for the actions of a political party with which he has no affiliation?

sorry but a community organizer is not a political position. being on a city council is an elected position. obama didn't get started until 1997 she got started in 1992. there is a 5 year gap.

Each of her positions required her to make executive type decisions. not to mention she has been the owner of a small business among other things.

tell me what executive positions has obama held? 0 none.

If you can claim co ownership of business as legitimate executive experience, then Obama can claim community organize as executive experience as well. But beyond that, executive experience does not qualify you for president. As has been said before, Bush had executive experience, and we all see how well that turned out.

First off, both canidates want to expand offshore drilling.

To say obama wants to expand offshore drilling is misleading of his actual views. He just recognizes that in order to get what he wants (alternative fuel sources), he needs to make some compromises in a senate which barely has a majority of democrats.

I think the weakness of both canidates is in an area I hoped to see improvement. They both want to spend waaay too much, and the country needs to cut costs. The next four years of either canidate is just going to be hell, and they will probably only last a single term either way.

Honestly, defecit spending is not that bad if done properly and applied to the right areas. Look at the great depression, defecit spending was one of the tools FDR used to build confidance in the economy again and get people jobs.

Elaborate on the Georgia-Russia conflict overreaction?

He essentially said that NATO should accelerate Georgia's application so that they are immediately accepeted. Of course, an attack on one NATO country is an attack on all, so all NATO countries would have to heavily invest military aid into Georgia. source

No, none of those make him a capable Commander-in-chief. I'm relying more on the fact that that he's already made better decisions than Obama on foreign policy and it's not even November.

Right, because getting into Iraq was an excellent foreign policy decision. So was over reacting about the Georgie-Russia conflict.

He's going against what is beneficial both for Iraq and for US interests in the face of a US victory to pander to the masses and you don't see that as weakness in foreign policy?

Obama has all but said he wants the US to lose Iraq. The surge, which marked a drastic turn around of Iraq affairs in favor of us after what was largely considered a hopeless situation, he has gone on record saying he still does not support. What makes you think this is a man who can handle Afghanistan, or Russia, or Iran, which the next president will be called upon to do?

I fail to see how it is beneficial for the US to remain involved in a civil war and a multibillion dolar sinkhole.

Not to mention to surge was not the only factor that contributed to the decrease in violence. The Anbar Awakening clearly has played a huge role as well. Furthermore this war isn't a question of whether we win or we lose. That's akin to McCarthy era politics where, if you're not with us, you must a communist. We live in a time when there are frequently gray area's in everything, even war. Finally, I'll put your question back to you, what makes you think a man who was wrong about this disaster of the war can handle Afghanistan, or Russia, or Iran?

You need to work on loosing that fat. Just doing situps isn't going to cut out. At the very least you need to do some cardio consistantly, about 3-4 times a week. The muscle is there, it's just hidden by the fat.

As stated above it doesn't work, because on the eve of the release, 3 major studios realised they didn't have contracts with these people.
