    thanks Shaggy.
He also seems great against any death shadow strategie. But for sure death shadow is not the main argument to play him;)

    Hey Guys,
can someone please explain me why everyone is so into this invisible stalker thing. On MTGgoldfish nearly every list that had good placing in the past week has 4 copies in the sideboard.
I played Infect in the past and tried a lot SB cards, but this one leaves me with a weird feeling. Is it for Humans, Jeskai? What is the plan to sideboard out?

I love transformative sideboard plans and really want to know whats up with this one Smile

Yeah sideboarding is one of the most complex things with this deck.
I also have some Questions about this. Recently i saw some people adding a single song of the dryads to their sideboard, what is the purpose of this card? My point of view: It dodges Sanctum Prelate, and Counterbalance on cmc2, it catches Planeswalker. but is this really more worth than just having another krosan grip? Yeah and somehow it also dodges surgical extraction XD
I don't know what to think about this.
Another card i am having trouble with is trinisphere, why is trinisphere better than another sphere effect? SPheres and trinisphere does not stack on each other and trinisphere is one mana more which is a HUGE difference. What matchup is trinisphere for exactly?

So my Current SB looks like this.

So i like having chalice of the void to gamble for it T1 to throw it on storm players for "0" and i like to board it in against decks that bring surgical extraction from the sideboard. Sphere of resistance is for combo and Control, 3/1 split because of Cabal Therapie, i'm trying to figure out where trinisphere is best for at the moment otherwhise it would be a 3 tireless tracker or Thorn of amethyst. Choke is for Miracles und everything else midrange U style. crucible of worlds for Loam hate, normaly i always run 3 loam 1 crucible after board. and Tomb yeah... for combo and haterocks.

And yeah mainboard i have barbarian ring and molten vortex so i have no need for SB Kozilek's Return to get some % in the D%T Matchup.

I always board tracker in when i know my enemy has good answers to the token or when i know i need a fast clock or CA and the token will probably not be enough. Tracker ist also good to dodge GY hate on loam etc. because you can just draw another combo, or enough stupid lands to buy yourself time to set up enough CA to overrun the enemy with all the tools lands has. casting p-fire all alone under a rest in peace when it was a free tracker draw ist still CA somewhow. I really would like to make space for a third tracker in the board, this card even rocks under a blood moon and when you have 2 or 3 they even get better and let you draw more of your SB cards.

When you expect the decks you mentioned i would probably go with two drop of honey instead of choke. I also like to board in trackers against the decks you mentioned.

What are your Sideboard options at the moments?

Kutcher already spreads a lot of SB information about the Deck, and lots of other guys are doing it too. you can not expect that anyone will give you an 100% sideboard guide for free. You wanne do well at a GP...do something for it!
But ok what am i telling you...
Here are the Basics. When matchups get grindy put in some Huntmaster of the fells and take out thought scour. When the enemy is soft to Blood Moon put them in XD
Everything that is fast and goes wide is soft to pyroclasm, just take out slow cards like Mishra's Bauble.

Playtesting is the best way to learn SB options in and out.
I recommend you to recheck the last 5 pages and search throught kutchers posts and Riku_the_Wizard SB guide:

So Guys here is a little update of my affinity list!

Started playing affinity two years ago, than i played one Year Bloom titan and now i am bock on the robots!

My old list was like 3 etched champion, 4 galvanic blast and 2 memnite the rest was pretty standard 4 glimmervoid (i played 4 because i was lacking experience for the Keepers), etc.

But i want to talk about the new Meta and not about my one year old affinity list XD
    so let's start!

Here is the list at first

1 Memnite and 2 Welding Jar because i expect a lot of Hate these days and Welding Jar is one of the best ways to get the Steel overseer online, also it is pretty good to regenerate a flyer in the mirror.

at first i was a bit afraid of only playing one Memnite because of springleaf drum drum activation, but my test games showed that i used welding Jar like in each game it was on board and it activates Mox opal so explosive starts where not the Problem.

Next Thing that i did was moving 2 Etched Champion to the sideboard, simply because Eldrazi lough about this one. Torn joins the Party and he Costs 3 Mana! sure he is pretty good against Burn/ U(w)R- Delver Burn...Control but Master of etherium is pretty nice in these matches too. and since Lingering souls is the key card for Eldrazi to beat us, master becomes even more valuable.
Against U(W)R Path to Exile often Speeds up our Mana so that we can resolve the next Master pretty easily.

Master of Etherium blocks the Board (Blight Herder, Oblivion sower,...) and makes our flyers big enough to crack through Lingering Souls. The disadvantage to Etched Champion is sure there, but i had good results with him all over the last two weeks.

So 2 Galvanic Blast....wait what Twin is banned and still Blast? Yeah sure! This thing gives reach man and out of the Eldrazi matchup it will always find a decent target even without twin.
3 Thoughtcast ok i now 8 colored spells is a lot but thoughtcast is pretty good when you are not playing against Infect XD so try it out, you can cut one easily here but i had no problems supporting 3 even with my 3 Glimmervoid's.

Last but not least: 3 Glimmervoid: i think you should always play 3 of these. Playing 4 is good when you are not very experienced with the Deck and do not know when to Keep or Mulligan exactly (and this is what affinity is all about). And i am pretty sure that you will never need more than 3 Glimmervoids as long as we have Mox opal and Drum. And as long as we do not play more than 4 3CC Spells. I think everyone has his own taste here but i will always go with 3 Wink

    SB:
Blood Moon is very questionable and i will side him out for another Whipflare i think. i always had Moon and i think i want to stick with it for some more time to see if he can shine in any matchups anymore.
The rest is pretty standard, Hangarback Walker is pretty new for me and i am not sure if he really is what i want, anyone has experience with this Dude? Would like to now!
3 Ancient Grudge: affinity is big, never loose to the mirror!
Whipflare was pretty good against Eldrazi in my testing because they have a lot of tokens! and actually your sideboard is pretty small against them so i played like: -1 Etched Champion, -2 Galvanic Blast, - 1 Thoughtcast, -1 Signal Pest and Put in 2 Thoughtseize (They often lack critters, take them! Stony silence is a good target too :/), Ghirapur Aether Grid cleans tokens, Whipflare and Hangarback Walker buys time on the ground and gets me in the Air, sounds like this is what we want to do in this matchup.

    Any thoughts? any Tipps?

it could be that Wizard wants colorless mana that can only be paid with REAL colorless mana. Means our old colorless mana will work too but you are not allowed to pay this one with mountains or artifacts producing red mana....you got what i mean?

    Hallo guys!
I am a Mono Brown legacy veteran and since my local store prefers to play modern now i am trying to adapt the archetype to this format.
Here is my try out with a little explanation.

A card that i did not saw mentioned in the primer was faithless looting, sure it is bad with 4 chalice but you can cycle your hand for 1R O.o really like the idea when i think about people casting Serum vision in this format all day. and on the other hand you don't always have chalice 1 on T1 and t! looting into chalice seems pretty good!

So actually the deck is pretty simple aside for that, spirit guide is the only chance to get cc1 locked outby chalice of the void on T1, this disables lots of good T1 staples i think. against amulet bloom it is nice to have chalice on "0" to counter the summoners pact.
Spellskite lockes: infect, boogles, twin, trades nice in burn and can protect all the pieces, hell why should we play less than 4 XD
Blood moon shuts down half of the format by itself, no reason to play less than 4 when i have access to faithless looting
Leyline of sanctity is a two sided sword for me, helps against GB/x and burn but otherwise it seems a bit weak
7 prison cadrs feels like the right number in a format which is this fast. also nearly every deck seems to win thought the combat phase somwhow, lets tax it.
Engineered explosives is good against merfolk, affinity, amulet bloom, burn, GB/x .... Why is this card mainly considered for SB?
oblivion ring is the catch all answer for platinum angle guys, worship and last but not least Tron

I am a bit scared about the Tron and amulet bloom (hive mind) Matchup, would be happy about some tipps.

i am not very deep into the modern format so i am asking for some feedback with this list, i plan to take it to some NFM's in the next month so i have a lot of time tweaking it till then, this is a very raw version.

a little report about 3 Matches i had on my last FNM, had to leave for the 4th match because i needed to take of a friend.

1 Round vs Hatebear/ little kid Abzan (i know i need to expect Choke, Worship after SB) 2-1

1 Match 1 was weird, i was searching for another land meanwhile my Delver got PTE. my opponent was flooding like a king, he managed to resolve an Ooze around my Mana leak just in time and than shrieked my Goyfs to 0/1 GG

2 and 3 game where awesome.
2 Match i bolted Noble Hierarch and played Hooting mandrills into Goyf 3/4. i had nothing else to work with so i shrinked goyf to 1/2 after attacking and resolved another Mandrills.
He had Gavony Township and 2 Mana dorks which grow 2/3 my life went down to Fetch shock land action. i resolved hunt master to gain some life, he resolved a 5/5 flying Dude with hex proof. i attacked and pumped sth with mimic charm to beat the angel dude. thats when i took over the game. i had two mandrils left and he decided to play EE to get my wolf token. i had Destructive revelry and mana leak in hand and choose to destructive the EE so he can't activate Township. He took the 2 Dmg and used Township but only attacked with one dude.... Hooting mandrills TRAMPLE did this one LOL
Game 3 was fast. we had like 5 mins left
i resolved 2 delver wich eat PTE. He dropped Mana dork Mana Dork one Ooze that i Dismembered, he lost to double Huntmaster eating the Board, so lucky this guy is no legend!

SB: -4 Disrupting Shoal -3 Thought Scour
    +4 Huntmaster, 2 destructive Revelry, 1 Dismember

2 Round vs 4c Good Stuff (URWB)
1 Match i mulled to 3 LOL Delver, Land, cantrip was not enough to get the game XD
2 Match i Blood mooned him after i let him counter two Goyfs with his Mana Leaks.
3 Match he lost to playing Bolt on a 2/3 Land, Sorcery Goyf... Sorry dude blood moon comes down on turn 4 backed up with stubborn denial and a 4/5 goyf was beating him within 4 turns

SB: -4 disrupting Shoal, 4 Thought scour
+ 3 Blood moon, 2 Pyroclasm (for Lingering souls), 3 Huntmaster (he played PTE)

    3 Game vs Merfolk

0-2 No way to win anything in this matchup i never saw bolt even with 2 Mulligans in both matches and he just had Kira both games... Never got a hunt master nor a Pyrocalsm... Happens Wink Good for me somehow, iw as running out of time anyway

SB: -3 Mana leak, -4 stubborn denial, -3 Hooting Mandrills
    + 4 Huntmaster, 2 pyrocalsm, 1 dismember, 2 destructive revelry, 1 Ancient grudge

can Jace, Vryn’s Prodigy be the Boy we are looking for? flipping him is kinda easy, he makes our dudes beat all other dudes in the format with +1 and the -3 ability can make so much Card advantage with all the cantrips we have access too.
He is cheap to cast and grindy, sounds good. Maybe he is better on board than he reads on Paper Smile

I agree on Huntmaster of the fells, he is Ok vs affinity but he will not get you back in a game where you are already behind vs affinity. the fact that spider umbra has proven to be a very good card vs any grixis/Jund (NOT Junk) type Deck let's me get close to the thought of cutting one out of the Sideboard; i also had some games where is was sitting on 2 Huntmaster of the fells in my Hand for a long time waiting for the 4 land to drop :/ Maybee 3 is the right Number we will see.

With 17 Lands and Disrupting Shoal snapcaster mage feels clunky, like with Huntmaster, you have a lot of games where you need to play with 3 lands for a long time and Tarmogoyf/delver/mandrills and stubborn denial/Shoal lets you do this perfectly. Snapcaster mage really shines when you have 4 Mana to flashback simic charm and Mana leak which are your most common targets right after lightning bolt. Now we don't always have lightning Bolt in the Yard or maybe removed it for a fast Hooting mandrills and than you have a snapcaster in hand waiting for the 4th land to drop to make him "reliable good". Also snapcaster mage can make you play greedy by flashing him in EOT just to see that your opponent has some Spell ready for your "real" bad boy :/ but this is more of a misplay than a downside to snappy Smile

Simic charm is an all star against any Fair Deck and has the edge to break even unfair decks. Here are some scenarios where i just went crazy about the card:
Attacking with flipped delver of secrets--> enemy lightning Bolts delver ---> Simic charm +3/+3: you get Card advantage+ 6 dmg O.o CRAZY
You can "counter" Abrupt decay O.o
You can protect your lands from cards like fulminator mage/Stone Rain (this can be very important when you are operating with 3 lands)
    ->you can Protect Blood Moon!
You can bounce Wurmcoil engine which is crazy important in the Tron matchup and while the card is OK to ->Crazy in generell you can easily play 4 copies in an unknown meta i would say.
    it Breaks splinter Twin
Hooting Mandrills hast trample, Pump this dude and you can trade like a boss while even doing some dmg to the opponent
It Pitches to Disrupting Shoal for CC2, the most common Shoal target you will find
And after all it can bounce creatures in generell for a lethal attack!
And when you have Snapcaster mage on board you can declare block and bounce him just to get some advantage from snappy again Smile
Bounces Primeval Titan before attack, this can be very important against Bloom titan

These are just some scenarios and i bet we can find a lot more where this card shines.

I think Snappy really requires 18 Lands and i think this is the point where it gets really close to what you feel while playing the deck, i never missed snappy and i played splinter twin for 1-2 months where snappy plays like a bomb! but in this deck Tempo is whats needs to be written and the card ans snappy reads a bit more like value :/

I will try out this mainboard at the next FNM i think just to get a better feeling about snappy and the 17/18 Land thing Smile
    =http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=9976&d=257545&f=MO][/url]

you'd actually want to destroy Affinity as a whole (ShatterStorm // Creeping Corrosion // Vandalblast).

You are right, this is the best way to deal with affinity but i prefere ancient grudge because it has potential to be good with thought scour and it can deal with other decks too, primary infect(spellskite/ Inkmoth nexus)

Yeah i agree with all you say.

I play the List that Ashton played at least i will repost it here:

This list plays very stable, resolve a beater and go!

as i mentioned My local Meta is like:

    Many: Grixis, affinity, infect, burn
    Some: bloomtitan, Scapeshift, boogles, hatebears
    None/less: twin, tron, merfolk

Tarfire actually makes sense, it grows goyf out of Tasigur, the golden fang/Gurmag Angler range and kills creeping tar pit/ snapcaster mage and is in generell very good vs Infect affinity and OK/not complete useless in the Burn matchup.
i would try to cut a simic charm here i think; it can bounce Tasigur, the golden fang/Gurmag Angler but does not solve the "real" problem and feels clunky when it comes down to a counter/ fight situation where this Deck often fights with Grixis.
i just don't see any other way to make room for cards here :/

    another question is the sideboard
i think i need at least 2 Destructive Revelry for hatebears (Worship /choke) and Bloomtitan/ affinity/ boogles/ Infect
The space is so little and i want t play so many cards :_( i can easily cut one spider umbra, i often ended up putting one on the bottom with serum visions because i prefere to have just one copy on my Beaters in case it gets bounced by cryptic command, yeah this should not happen but sometimes you do not draw counter, counter, simic charm all day to protect.
i think another Pyroclasm will be fine here: Affinity/ Boogles/ hatebears/ infect

I only wish to have place for a second copy of ancient grudge but i don't see space :/

    conclusion:
    Main: -1 Simic charm
    +1 Tarfire
    Sideboard: -1 Spider Umbra
    +1 Pyroclasm

I see you do not board any Huntmaster of the fells. You do not play them in general or just don't like them against affinity. I'am not sure if they are what i want in this matchup and because of all the fast decks i face i often thought about cutting one out of the sideboard but everyone praises this card so i think i will stick to it for some more time and see if he pays out

I Have some Serious problems with the affinity matchup :/

I'm playing monkey grow with 4 simic charm and 4 stubborn denial

    Sideboard:
    4 Huntmaster of the fells
    3 Blood moon
    2 Destructive Revelry
    1 Ancient Grudge
    1 Pyroclasm
    1 Feed the Clan
    3 Spider Umbra

Can some one explain me step by step how he would sideboard and what spells i do need to counter. N1: cranial plating and Arcbound ravager i think than N2: Etched champion and master of etherium and when he has mulled i often try to get him on the mana base by bolting little dudes and counter the opals/ Drums with denial/shoal's

    My Board plane is like:

    out:
    -4 thought scour
-1 hooting mandrills not the best beater in the matchup and without the scours he gets even worse
    -2 simic charm
-1 Stubborn denial maybe i should cut another simic charm here but i like to have shoal on 2

    In:
+4 huntmaster of the fells i had some games where he was racing with etched champion but in the end i was not able to flip him enough Frown and a nice affinity start hand is just to fast for hunt master to connect
+2 Destructive Revelry when arcbound ravager resolves once this card feels like ****
    +1 Pyroclasm GG
+1 Ancient Grudge i feel like i actually want two copies of this all day XD too bad it is nearly affinity exclusive and my meta is full of "budget" Grixis guys which forces me to actually take 3 spider umbras to each FNM

Maybe some of you have more experience with this matchup and can tell me what are the most important angles/moves to take care of and how to play this game in generell Smile

    My local Meta is like:

    Many: Grixis, affinity, infect, burn
    Some: bloomtitan, Scapeshift, boogles, hatebears
    None/less: twin, tron merfolk

Can you help me tweak the sideboard for this Meta?
i am fairly new to the RUG (UR) archetype in Magic in generell and i see that i will need a lot more practice to become better with the deck/archtype in generell so even some generell type will help me i think!

UR twin is a dying deck the Grixis and RUG variants are almost strictly better.

You now that UR is still the most consistent form of this Deck by far! i don't want to go deep in here but calling UR twin a dying Deck .... LOL
Each version has it up and down sides but "strictly better" than Ur is either Grixis nor RUG Twin.

Comparing day's undoing to browbeat, can you explain this a little more?
