I remember a long time ago someone saying that Planeswalker Urza would be unprintable as a "normal" card, that they would have to make him the MTG equivalent of Exodia to properly portray him in his entire oldwalker glory.
Well person I can't remember, you get brownie points. Urza Planeswalker is a beast and I wouldn't be surprised if "Urza.dek" became a real archetype.

Also, I really like Queen Kayla, she seems like a fun brew-around-me both in Commander and Standard. Not sure if "playing a three-drop and hoping it lives" is a strategy worth pursuing in 2022 Magic, but we do have Selfless Samurai to protect her and if there's one thing that I know for a fact is really really good, it's cards that accelerate and generate card advantage at the same time.

but not for the reason the poster above me gives (note that the OP compares Pair o' Dice Lost to Creeping Renaissance, which not only suffers from the same Lotus Petal spam problem, it lets you naturally do so twice since it has Flashback instead of an exile clause).
...you just skimmed my post and then said exactly what I just said. Did you really miss the "recurs itself" part?

Sorry, when I looked at your post, I thought the "when coupled with a card that potentially recurs itself" was an afterthought and not the crux of your argument, and the "every copy of Lotus Petal and Lion's Eye Diamond is returned for free, and if you can't see how this could go south EXTREMELY fast" was your main argument. I then thought that I needed to make a post that emphasizes that it's Pair o' Dice Lost's ability to recur another card of itself without the exile clause that makes it risky, not the ability to recur Lotus Petals (that it shares with Creeping Renaissance).
Pair'o Dice recuring itself was an afterthought because reading the card explains the card. :p

Also, for extra bonus points, if you don't want to bother dealing with die rolls, a single copy of Regrowth in the bin means you won't ever whiff. Return all Petals/LDEs + Regrowth, every roll above 2 also gives you a few Ritual effects which in turn generate mana, keep returning Pair'o Dice with Regrowth and repeat until cows go home. So yeah, "one card Vintage/Legacy Storm engine" is already enough of a good reason to have an exile clause.

As a friendly reminder, it must flip like a coin and not like a Frisbee.
Also Heinrich eh? Well now I got to run it in my Mila/Lukka EDH deck.

Was the exile clause necessary on this? Seems like this is only decent if you have a lot of ways of manipulating what you roll.
YES, and how. "Any number" and "total mana value X" means every copy of Lotus Petal and Lion's Eye Diamond is returned for free, and if you can't see how this could go south EXTREMELY fast when coupled with a card that potentially recurs itself you be trippin'.

  • posted a message on [UNF] Mothership 9/26 — Form of the Approach of the Second Sun, Urza's Fun House and two Attractions
Tunnel of Love is the greatest card design of the year and I will not hear a single word otherwise. Nothing brings me more joy than the fact the card is not Acorn stamped.

Form of Approach of the Second Sun is an hilarious design but it feels like such an all-or-nothing feelbad. Even hats won't save you since you still need to legally draw 7 cards to trigger it, and every time you do so there's a very real risk of dropping everything and turning your 5 MV permanent into a "gain 7". That said, I'm still glad it exists, because now I can legally play myself as a Magic card - and not just a measly Avatar.

Lastly, now I get the joke with Blorpityblorpbloop's flavor texts, and it's actually really funny. I wish they had made it a Story Spotlight just to sell the idea of hamfisted story flavor texts even further. "Pulling a Captain Nebula" also made me chuckle.

Oh hey, it's an Azra outside of Kyrem. I believe that's a first.

Also this card is pretty good, I can see myself running this in B Artifacts Matters Commander decks. Of couse, most B Artifact Commanders also rely on graveyard synergies, so it's always important to remember Attractions don't go to the 'yard.

  • posted a message on [UNF] Plate Spinning — MtG Bilibili preview
Two important reminders: First, this says "spell", not "Instant and Sorcery". It will double up everything you cast, creatures included.
Second, while anything more than one or two cards will quickly become cumbersome, nothing stops you from using a bunch of Instant-speed effects repeatedly, getting the triggers and then just sacking Plate Spinning right after. Spinning the plates is not a requirement to get a copy.

Overall, I really like this design, physical prowess cards are at its best when they happen seldomly, are self-inflicted and give you a bonus worth the hassle.

The card itself is pretty medium, 3/3 First Strike Menace Lifelinker is alright in Limited but pretty crappy everywhere else. It's also not a card that caters to any specific mechanical niche in Commander tables, unless you're REALLY dying to build Die Rolling Vampires Tribal.
Monoxa herself however I expect to have some fans, she reminds me of a more fun but also more sinister version of Fairly Oddparents' Vicky. Definitely a cool design.

Also, can someone explain to me why Knight in ___ Armor is an acorn card but Wizards of ___ isn't?
If I had to guess, because "protection from names" doesn't plays well with anything non-English. The consistent rule for "names matters" cards seems to be "if it cares about names outside itself / its stickers, it's acorn-stamped".

How does the black aura gain more than one sticker? Do the stickers stay on throughout the game, even if the card changes zones? And even then, you need some other card to recur it, right?
Many "put a sticker" let you target any nonland permanents, and while you'd rather use those effects to put an ability or P/T sticker on a creature those two also cost Tickets (which are similar to energy counters), so those Art/Name sticker payoffs are very useful since Art/Name stickers are free.
You COULD put a silly hat on your creature when you Visit Costume Shop (maybe to prevent a ping from Goblin Girder Gang), but an extra +2/+0 boost for free does sounds nice doesn't it?

And yes, stickers do stay attached anywhere but the hand and library, so unless you can reanimate enchantments, this won't be relevant for Last Voyage.

I like this, personally I think some of the cards with phone gimmicks are too clunky and/or pause the game for too long but this one is really cool.
Works best with Equipments since you can gear up a single creature for a snapshot then just remove it all once it's done, which is both a fun interaction and extremely flavorful considering that's exactly how these things usually go irl.

Why's Solaflora a Guest?? Strong effect, it feels mythic-worthy. That's a Voltron for YOU, and for YOU, and for YOU! Voltrons for all!

Also, why is she acorn? Stickers are not?

I'm having trouble with that as well, doesn't seem like anything that is acorn worthy. This would need to be explained really well for me to understand it.
What happens when an effect tries to remove an Aura/Equipment/counter sticker from a creature you control from one of your creatures who isn't Solaflora? Let's say Solaflora has a shield counter on her, and someone tries to Bolt one of your 2/2s. What happens to it? If you treat it as if it does have a shield counter, you go to remove a nonexistent counter, and the 2/2 just dies. However, it's still supposed to have a shield counter on it. So does the 2/2 die or not?
Another fun braintwister would be figuring out what happens if Solaflora got enchanted with One With The Stars while you control another creature. I don't think timestamping rules would solve the issue since there's technically only one effect happening here so my guess is that it would automatically end the game in a draw but your guess is as good as mine.

At least the flavor of not being able to force a pop idol into stardom is top-notch.
