This is what im running currently. I really think experimental frenzy is the best red card in the new set. I added Dark-Dweller Oracle to sideboard to improve frenzy games. Mess with some of the numbers. Down to 2goblin Banneret. Went up to 3 rekindling Phoenix in the main deck. It’s good in every match up. Have fight with fire in the sideboard for green match ups. Also can be used on control matches as a burn finisher and a punish for wreckage.
I think this list is pretty legit. Of course Phoenix is the all star. I love how stupid banneret can get on turn 3. Love runaway steam kin too! How are you doing with 21 lands tho? What do you hit Field of Ruin with?
The newly mentioned June frenzy deck on tcg seems to be ripped off from this thread but who knows maybe he was the poster or great minds think alike but sbmtg was on to something.
I just went 0-2 drop in the latest pptq in my city with mono red frenzy. It did what it was suppose to do once out of five matches. Otherwise it was a cheesy burn deck that almost made it before getting a sweeper or outmatched by golgari tyrant or boros angels.
I think the key things to keep in my is that right now Tocatli Honor Guard is an immediate removal necessary threat. Chupacabra cannot compete. His list runs 2 assassins trophy and 3 lava coil and 4 chupacabra for removal.
The golgari decks also have the reset button find/finality which I feel like we should be including given all the exploring and sending down. Helps to reverse sweepers and blow boards with a big meaty sword tooth out.
His list also runs 2 doom whisperers. Each time I played him he gets eaten then I use his ability to go look for removal and it’s never there and I spend ten life then concede lol but there’s more fine tuning that this deck deserves. Once the next set comes out we will be able to include llanowar elves. For now we would have to get ride of the chupacabra and trade some swamps towards forests if we were to reliably hit them turn one. But our three drop sit is impressive and not so much the two drop. I’d like to see a turn two sword tooth or jade light.
Treasure map is indeed necessary but I guess it depends on which colors your running. In his list he runs seekers squire because of wild growth walker but I suppose treasure map is an arguable replacement since it helps is dig and get the blessing with the treasures.
I think we’re light on removal and mid game creatures to apply pressure. I have 2 rekindling maybr a red green main splash black for assassins trophy and find and finality isn’t a bad idea since it hits anything.
Definitely like the use of lightning strike in this format.
Maybe we are waiting for the next set of duals to come to standard before going full jund.
Radiant destiny is a Good. I see a lot of lists dropping Warchief but he is a bomb goblin. I’m re entertaining the thought of crater maker being another 2 drop spot. Warchief seems so necessary in this format plus he will soak up removal high priority. The white splash for the exile convoke enchantment is also great against everything
I have not had success with he banneret but 4 fanatic and 4 smirk as well as 4 goblin instigator into war boss and trash master is really fast and almost too much. 4 siege gang all day. I like risk factor but Idk if we need it. I would only play goblins and play 4 volley instead of strikes etc. 24 mountain. 2 warchiefs are enough we curve out without them but the haste is nice. Keep goblin
I was thinking going Golgari mid range with hard removal and Underrealm Lich beats. Sultai might just be what we need. the Shock lands help a lot. I think field of ruin and glowspore shaman are a great combo. There's still more of the set left to see. It could go zombie, elf or etc.
Banefire is their undoing. Swing out to settle the wreckage and sac out to fumigate and get that mana for stuff... that's why instances are good. and the dark dweller goblin is going to be legit af
Looking at these new Goblins coming out and I am getting excited I know you are too! You're here
because you also love the reckless nature of the Goblin-kind. Their willingness to sacrifice themselves
for glory! Kind of romantic in a way... maybe even honorable...
My first and favorite goblin is Siege-Gang Commander
Pros: More 1/1 Goblins, sac + damage fun
cons: Mana Cost
Then there's the Goblin Chainwhirler which is possibly getting banned? *shrugs*
Another deck surfacing in lieu of Dominaria's release that's allowing anyone hyped for Goblin rares like who also liked GPG to enjoy both worlds. It's a pricey build but I found it online on TCG that apparently went 5-0 by a user TacoFarmer. Just sharing the love I have already made some hastey Ebay buys because of this deck and in testing online it seems to stand up to some of the more premiere standard decks.
I need help with understanding some of the sideboard strategies though.Correct me if I am wrong I will give my opinion on each sideboard card.
1. Glory Bringer - To sail over our opponents heads??? Aggro matchups or anyone midrange who can keep blockers out. Probably take out Goblin Chainwhirler first? Against like Mono Green (do we care about Llanowar Elves that much?) or maybe take out Siege-Gang Commander? I don't think Skirk Protector is ever a dead card in this build because he's essentially ramp and feeds himself to the yard for the GPG main strategy. I think the deck master saw Yahenni's Expertise coming in or etc. and made Siege and it share a card count.
2. Pia Nalaar My initial impression is to bring in for a combat celebrant or Chain Whirler or even a Skirk Protector or Rowdy Crew or Bomat Courier ??? The choices... I feel like she's cool to just be able to go overhead with the thopter she produces while pumping it or maybe make use of a lame Bomat Courier late game to stop potential blocks?
3. Abrade **Vehicles** or mirror/GPG decks?? Still don't know what I would take out... Can we come to a common agreement of what would be taken out first? Chainwhirler?
4. Magma Spray Eternalize, Embalm, Mono red?, Champion of Wits? Siege-Gang Commander? (missing anything?)
5. Chandra, Torch of Defiance I really don't know about this card... I am dumb... against midrange decks or control? Can someone give me a better explanation of what she's good against? Thank you.
This deck is straight forward though. Stumble into GPG through Gate to the afterlife and certainly have a full yard by then. Combat Celebrant is the prime choice for GPG as you can have an additional combat stage... even with 1 other creature out... it's great.
I can't fathom a time to ever abandon the GPG strategy and go red good stuff... anyone disagree?
I am going 4 of with Siege Gang Commander because I consider him a primary win con. I agree with Vanquishing Banner. I will keep Karn as my high end. He has a tiny bit of synergy with metallic mimic and bomat but is really just card advantage. I have included the lightning strikes. I am not sold on them as I like Shivan Fire so I am still testing.
