I just picked up GDS for the 1st time. Playing at my LGS. I went 1-3. I played against mono-U Tron, Titanshift, Jund, and GDS (mirror).

I beat mono-U tron pretty handily.

I lost to Titanshift. G1, I had a handful of kill spells (dead cards) and couldn't get going. G2...I sided in LOTV, Blood Moon, and Surgical Extractions. I extracted his Primeval Titan, and Hour of Promise, LOTV controlled his hand and he still managed to win! My threats just wouldn't come.

G3 - Jund. He just took control. What are people's thoughts against this matchup? Feels 50/50 depending on who has the better draw. We have hand disruption and kill spells like they do. They have access to Scooze which hurts us pretty hard. is there a strategy to this matchup?

G4 - GDS mirror. I won g1, should have had g2, but my mind slipped and I lost the game. It was late and neither was getting prizes so we just drew the 3rd match.

I've never seen titanshift before (I don't get to play that often) how do we attack titanshift?

I agree with focusing into playing control game in the beginning. I sided out Delvers for more hate, so basically becoming a Grixis Control deck. Is siding out Delver a good thing? I never want to play Delver/Serum T1 if I have Snare/Ceromonious.

That's a good question. I don't think I ever sided out Delvers in any situation. I always kept them in there for the quick beats. I could be wrong though. I never thought to side them out until I saw people on this thread suggesting so.

I usually sided out my thoughscours. I could be wrong for siding out the thoughscours though.

    Lost badly tonight.

2-0 Jeskai Nahiri, 0-2 GW Sigarda, 0-2 Affinity. No Fatal Push for me Frown

Any tip for the Affinity matchup? How to play the first couple of turns? What to board out/in? I'm really terrible against Affinity. I feel like it's a bad matchup everytime!

Matchup is tough (but not unbeatable) because they spew out so much so fast then drop their pump dudes and its an uphill battle. Forked Bolt, Electrolyze and other 2 for 1 spells help a lot. A lot of their dudes only has 1 toughness. Izzet Staticaster is huge here. EE is super good here since that's pretty much the only way to get rid of Etched Champion for us. Spell snare is great in the matchup as well. I would try to focus my energy into playing the control game in the beginning. Try to outgrind him. Once he's in topdeck or you feel it's a good spot, the go into attack mode and close the game. But if the Champion hits the board it instantly becomes a race since we can't get rid of it.

I played a casual game this past friday with this deck. It was a stock list. Played against BW Humans. I don't know if my deck wasn't shuffled well or what, but my aggro/lifegain stuff was nowhere to be found. The game just DRAGGED. I started to stabilize at the end once I found my Martyr but by that time my opponent was just frustrated and we decided to move to something else. That was after over 1 hour of playing game 1. If this was a real tourney setting, I don't see how this deck can finish a 3 match round in time.

This is the 2nd/3rd time this has happened. I felt we both played pretty quick, it's just that "milling" my opponent 1 card at a time is pretty painful.

    Conratulations on the great showing!

Is there a reason why you chose banishing light over a 3rd Oblivion ring? They are pretty much the same card, no?

You use the infinite mana to trigger Ezuri infinitely boosting your creatures with trample

Is that really necessary to give it infinite trigger? Seems like a winmore to me. Usually after 1 activation it's enough to get the kill.

Can someone explain the vizer/druid combo in the elf deck to me? I get the infinite mana part, but what do you do with it? I'ts not like we have Glimpse of nature to draw and play our entire deck....What am I missing?

wow! I never thought I'd see the day when Jund is down in the same tier as BW tokens.

I was mainly griping about playing YP but with counterspell's in hand. Felt the worse because I can't get value until I my opponent plays something.

The last few lists I see here run 3-4 YP. I like YP but I always felt horrible if I can't get immediate value off him (I miss you G. Probe). The worse is when I'm holding countermagic and I just cast YP. I have to wait until my opponent casts something so I can counter it. It just feels horrible! Anyone else get that feeling?

Anyone else try the Grixis Death's Shadow and then revert back to Delver? I'm thinking about doing it. DS version just doesn't feel good.

I'd be surprised to see 'goyf in another masters or supplemental set for the foreseeable future. I think they've maxed out on the reprint value on that one. So while it will continue to dip while people sell out and it's not a heavy player in the meta, it will fairly quickly reach a bottom at which point it will start rising again. And if it ever picks back up in play-ability it will spike quickly.

I hope so. There are a number of cards worth more than Goyf now. Let those be the chase money cards in the next MM set.

Sweet Delver deck that finished 2nd place in a big event in my city: http://www.gamekeeper.ca/decklist-du-top-16-modern-8k-1er-juillet-2017/

Been testing the deck for a couple of days now and I have to say it's super fun. Enigma Drake is always at least 8/4 flyer.

I just saw this list myself. I like the looks of it. I do want to tweak the spells combination though. His list doesn't have 4 bolts, but I also understand bolts are not that great right now.

I just finished my Grixis Shadow deck. I'm goldfishing and I find the hands to be less than desirable (I came from Grixis Delver so my mindset might be off). What's the ideal 7 against an unknown opponent G1?
