on the match against turbo fog how did you celestial purge a UW borderpost if purge only nails red or black. Also who else was in the Top 4 (names and decks would be nice becuase I know a decent amount of players from SLC)
good luck in kyoto.
Your understanding of the Mistbind clique triggers though is wrong. The ability to tap lands triggers whenever you champion and makes no mention of needing to be in play, it only checks to see if mistbind has been championed. Second, if you path it after mistbinds trigger to remove a faerie has resolved, they will get the faerie back (assuming its not a token) because the remove trigger has already resolved. So there for when path resolves the return trigger will resolve and bring back the already championed trigger. If you do it in response to the mistbind remove a creature trigger, as you should if you dont want to get your lands tapped, they can just opt not to champion a faerie and let the sacrifice part take precedence on an already exiled clique. Hope this helps
Hollywood was my first PT, I would just say try to do your best but really enjoy the experience. I was able to go to worlds qualified but unfortunately I am not qualified for anything else so enjoy it while you can. Its really a blast even if you are eliminated day 1 or 2. Basically, play hard, have fun. GL
First and foremost regards to both of their families. When I say both I mean it because the husbands family must also be going through a harsh time. Regarding one of the lasts posts, these kinds of people need help. People do things for a reason and not out of randomness. The answer would have been to get help. As for the gun policy debate, this is the exact reason that citizens should not be allowed to have guns outside of recreational use (ie hunting etc) and even then with very strict policies not allowing those convicted of crimes that make them more likely candidates for murder to have them. Anyway, still sad and hope the families are getting through it ok.
I think the point has been made and accepted that both casual players and competitive players are needed for the game to survive. What really bugs me is that they just suddenly cut things like a PT and thus a PTQ season, in addition to other programs that have been pretty good (MSS and moreso states I am looking at you). Sure, they can go ahead and cut some programs, but like has been said before, where did all the money go. The PT pays out quite a chunk of change, the club levels did as well and we still havent seen anything that explains where the money went. Dont get me wrong, I would love the extra PT back, but I just want to know where the money went because the network and other things they have said certainly dont explain it. So sure the program they have seems like a good move, but again, it cant cost as much money as the cutting a PT not to mention the MSS.
I dont know about the command (primal). On the witness recursion, I dont see it happening because you will run out of witnesses and you might have already used some of them. It seems weak, but I more than anything want to know why it is in lists. I am curious, for example going for hierarch amnd gaining seven life seemed interesting. I have been testing it and it hasnt been too good. Basically, can anyone give some good uses for command, other than the witness stuff, becuase that doesnt seem too good when the late game decks are going to be titaning your lands, comboing off and the like.
Hey guys, I dont post much here, I usually just see rumors here, but I came by info that oddly enough, I am actually the first one here to get wind of it. For the gold-tier events that are run at stores that wizards think promote magic well foil memory lapses are given out to participants. There is a store about an hour and a half from my home that is running one of those events and I got an email from them.
If you want to beat goyf, then I would play UBw teachings control and know what you are doing. karsten's list from his last online tech article is pretty good against goyf. Slivers are also good against it in addition to korlash control. They other option is to tune your goyf list for the mirror, for example running more thrill of the hunt to win the goyf wars or running something like antonino's deck.
So if you play a control, deck and tune your list it shouldnt be too hard.
I would definately not play mono-red because it gets eaten alive for breakfast, lunch, and dinner by goyf aggro and teachings/korlash control. I also wouldnt play wild pair slivers if you dont have time to test it. It is a skill intensive deck. This leaves by process of elimination UW blink, which as others have said is a good choice.
I also got the impression from your post that you chose slivers and blink because they beat you. That doesnt matter, it matters how they fare against other decks, and that is what you need to find out.
I have been testing the deck a lot, and at first against mono-white, I got the same feeling in my first set of five games going first (2-3). I tested again a little later and playing second went 4-0. I felt I was playing the deck a lot better the second time through. I have one more game for the ten games set. I dont have really any specific advice, because lists differ and whatnot, the best thing is to in playtesting, question every decision, for example, if you are casting careful consideration instead of teachings ask yourself, what can I draw that is better than tutoring. There are not many turns that REALLy matter, so make them count. The best thing is to plan ahead, have a plan. I played a game recently where my plan for the next 3 turns was to ramp up to a triskalivus to survive. It worked because I identified that I needed to do taht in order to win.
So the best thing is to test, test, test, test, test, and test a little more, especially with these kind of decks. Testing is not only to make the right play, but to make it fast enough for 50 minute rounds.
I am glad that tron is leaving standard. For the time that it has been in standard, it has made a large impact that created a less healthy format. In mirroden, tooth and nail (still could have used cloudpost which some argued was better) and mono blue tron. Now there is multicolored tron. This also helped make green a bad color for control to have. Why use green for more mana when you can just run tron.
I am kind of split on the signets though. I would like them to stay becuase they fix so well but then again it also helps make green bad.
I would like to see them return sakura tribe elder as it was one of my favorite cards to come out of Kami block. I know they wont due to the arcane, but brining back kodama's reach would also be nice just to get gren back as a viable control color because of its good accel and color fixing.
I think that I am happy to see rav block go just for that we can have a new format, and that is always fun, but just like kami, there will be cards i want back.
this was a while ago, but I won one in Boise at the start of january. I won it with UWr firemane control. We also had a very poor turnout, we barely got enough to even sanction the event. Hopefully wiht the really good sets coming out there will be more interest.
there was an interview with mark rosewater recently and he said that wizards currently had not plans for another un set in the near future but that eventually there would be one

I am currently 7-3 against goyf with teachings.
