Reading flavor texts on cards is painful, whoever is writing those needed to be fired 5 years ago. Bolas just comes off like a terrible and incompetent saturday morning cartoon villain, who gets bested by the local high school kids. Dragon god? F uck off. This is battle against the Eldrazis all over again. Where the main characters can do anything, and the villain is clueless and can't put up any resistance.
They didn't even have the balls to kill off Bolas, and put him out of his misery. No, he needs to be imprisoned in his realm ''forever'' (citation needed) just so they can bring him back when sales are low, and start hyping another ''epic'' Bolas storyline which will be equally as bad as this one.
Ravnica is all fine and dandy too. Again, we need Ravnica, because it's our most popular plane. No consequences allowed! Even Niv gets ressurected almost as soon as he dies. Can't wait to get Niv-Mizzet 5.0 in 4 years from now! What was even the point of Jace becoming the living guildpact? there were no changes because of it and no consequences, and it was hyped as some big story point. It's the same now. Bolas's defeat is hyped as the big storyline culmination. But it doesnt matter. Bolas is alive, Gideon is (probably) ready for a comeback, Ravnica is all fine.
Everything is just so lame and boring. There is no real tension and sense of danger. And most importantly, reading the WAR flavor texts makes me want to kill myself.
People talking about Ugin's comments about not killing Eldrazi, as if this plot point matters. There will never be consequences for this, just like there was no consequence for Jace, the ''living guildpact'' leaving Ravnica for an extended period of time.
Kink and fetish deserve appropriate limits and spaces conductive to consent, public health, and the emancipation of human life and expression. They are NOT the celebration of forcibly and prematurely ending any of these, or the failure to take precautions that would limit undue risk and permanent harm. True Freedom therefore requires a level of self-restraint and likewise accountability for one's actions. There's no reason why nontraditional relationships cannot be both fun, spicy and conductive towards self- and other's preservation/lives.

Doesn't even look like an Orzhov card. Could be a mono white angel from M20 and nobody would bat an eye. I miss the days when Orzhov angels were bald and wielding zweihanders. Nu-Ravnica is just so generic.
I don't like Ravnica being used only as a vechicle for recent characters to fight their battles on it. It just cheapens the whole plane. I also agree with people who say it's completely implausible that Dovin just comes in from Kaladesh and takes the lead almost instantly. Even Kaya I don't buy. It's such bad storytelling, where it's obvious what WotC's idea was. We need to have a big showdown. And we will have it on Ravnica, because it's the most popular plane (that's literally it, no reason to return to Ravnica for this showdown). And we need to shoehorn as many new and relevant characters into Ravnica as possible., preferably as guild leaders so they can manipulate the guilds for story purposes.
This trailer sucked because Ravnica freaking sucks. And so do its "fans."
Man, the original Innistrad and Theros trailers blew me away. Avacyn Restored, Journey to Nyx, etc. Those were the golden age of MTG trailers. Not this disjointed marketing crap. And to think we're in the era of story involvement. BFZ actually had a good trailer too. I don't know what this nonsense is.
I agree Nu-Ravnica sucks, but I bet you haven't even played the game yet when the original one came out. The best set of all time, without a doubt.
Tldr of Kamigawa: ''It has a high rank because it wasn't popular (citation needed) and didn't sell too well. We might revisit it if we discard everything good about it and go with animes and ninjas because they are what's popular and marketable these days.''
I hate how Maro is such a biased salesman behind his rational facade. For example the new worlds all rank rather low with very questionable reasoning on some of them. Can't wait for 2025, when he will be able to talk about why Amonkhet or Ixalan failed and how the new return to Ixalan will totally fix all that and be super special awesome!
