    Hi all,

My name is Eliott and I finished at 11th place (13-2) at Grand Prix Lyon this past weekend with Mono Green Tron.

This was my first Day 2 and I'm extremely happy with the result, as I'm playing Tron since the begginings of Modern !

If it's okay to post a link here, I'll post an MTGGoldfish or MTGTop8 link with my deck list.
Otherwise I'll update my post with the list when I have time.

My matchups were the following :

Round 1 : Really cool Temur Warriors deck (2-1)
    Round 2 : Burn (2-1)
Round 3 : UR Through the Breach (2-1)
    Round 4 : Nahiri Control (2-1)
Round 5 : Creatures Combo with Vizier and Devoted Druid (1-2)
    Round 6 : Lantern Control (2-0)
Round 7 : Jeskai Through the Breach (2-1)
    Round 8 : Affinity (2-1)
    Round 9 : Jund (2-1)
    Round 10 : Burn (0-2)
    Round 11 : Thopter Foundry Combo (2-0)
    Round 12 : Lantern Control (2-0)
    Round 13 : BG Tron (2-0)
    Round 14 : Mardu Pyromancer (2-1)
    Round 15 : UW Control (2-0)

Thank you for your answer Smile
I'll remove a Torpor Orb from the sideboard and replace it with a 4th Wurmcoil Engine to improve my chances against Burn then. Or maybe i'll try to fit a Sundering Titan against Abzan.

I also think it is safe to remove Spellskite against Merfolk to add some Raging Volley and against Affinity for some Nature's Claim.

Hello to everyone, here is the list I want to take to the big Modern event alongside GP Utrecht at the end of the month.

I'm not sure about Ulamog, maybe i'll replace him with a 4th Wurmcoil; i'm a bit afraid of the Burn matchups
Also scared by the Twin MU, that's why I left Torpor Orbs but I think they aren't needed with 3 Spellskites

I also find it very hard to know what cards to remove against the popular decks, for example do you remove Oblivion Stones against Merfolk or Affinity ? If anyone had some advice or sideboarding tips that would be very nice !

So I decided to play a couple 8-man events at GP Paris yesterday with U-Tron and got myself annihilated by Zoo (Triple Nacatl on turn 2) and a Mono Green devotion. Here what went wrong for me :

    - The matchups obviously, aggro is very difficult and I can't praise Cyclonic Rift enough.

    - Solemn Simulacrum as a singleton was awful. Sure it makes some great card advantage but even with the acceleration provided by Talismans, I really don't want to tap out on turn 3. It can block but aggro isn't impressed with it. Though, playing 2-3 Talismans and 2-3 Solemn is a good choice because you can often cast it on turn 3. But as a singleton I never liked him. I decided to remove it and go up to 24 lands.

    - I mulled twice because I had one land and one or two Talisman of Dominance in my starting hand. If those Talismans were lands I could've kept these hands and Anticipate for more lands or 2 CCM spells. I decided to remove the Two Talismans I was playing and put the good ol' Trinket Mage and Pithing Needle as I'm playing a main deck Chalice of the Void and as Mage can fetch an Expedition Map if we are desperate for lands.

Waiting to see how 24 lands talisman-less work for me. I think with 3 Anticipate it won't be too hard.

I realized that a lot of lists are dropping Batterskull for a second Wurmcoil Engine main board, any particuliar reason why we don't see Batterskull as often as before ?

    Hello everyone,
So this is what I've been playing recently and wanted to bring to the Modern main event in Grand Prix Utrecht in 3 weeks :

Kudos to cbgirardo for letting me know about Anticipate. It really smoothen your draws and helps you find anything you want, from Tron pieces to sideboard cards and Ugin !
I play 23 lands and 2 talismans and it never bothered me.
Though I'm not a fan of talismans and especially not Simulacrum, I really think it's risky to tap out for it and letting your opponent cast a big spell you can't counter.

Also since it's my first big tournament with Mono U Tron, if anybody got any sideboarding tips or any advice in general it would be highly appreciated Smile

Cyclonic Rift in the main is pretty useful when you run Chalice of the Void. I remember cbgirardo saying that if you have a chalice on 1, you want to repeal cards with 0 CCM, for example a flipped Delver of secrets.

Concerning Spellskite i run 2 in my Sideboard, i find them pretty useful against aggro decks and it makes our matchup even better against Aura Hexproof.
Oh and by the way, Restoration Angel cannot target your Platinum Angel and you cannot redirect it on one of your permanents with Spellskite Smile It only affects permanents the controller of Restoration Angel controls.

I'm currently running 2 Treasure Mage (no Solemn) and 2 Talismans and I'm thinking cutting the 2 mages for 2 DTT but I wouldn't cut my 2 talismans because we really need that second blue source or a third one to cast a counter we could find.
I'll try testing with no Mages, 2 Talismans and 2 DTT.
By the way i'm running 24 lands, 9 islands.

Shadow of Doubt (sorry can't post links yet) is great against Tron.

Hello, i'm going to play in a Trial for GP Madrid in my usual store in Paris tomorrow and here's the list i'll be running. I expect some Burn decks, Jeskai Ascendancy, a Merfolk played by a friend of mine (unfortunately) and a lot of Splinter Twin. I tested yesterday the 4 Chalices maindeck that cbgirardo plays and I have to admit I really liked it and my list is very close to his (huge thanks to him by the way !)

    Main deck
    8 Island
    4 Urza's Tower
    4 Urza's Mine
    4 Urza's Powerplant
    1 Tectonic Edge
1 Oboro, Palace in the clouds
    1 Academy Ruins

    1 Solemn Simulacrum
    1 Treasure Mage
    1 Wurmcoil Engine
    1 Sundering Titan
    1 Platinum Angel

    4 Chalice of the void
    4 Expedition Map
    3 Talisman of Dominance
    2 Mindslaver
    1 Oblivion Stone
    1 Batterskull

    4 Thirst for Knowledge
    4 Condescend
    3 Repeal
    3 Mana Leak
    2 Fabricate
    1 Cyclonic Rift

    3 Dismember
    3 Squelch
    2 Aetherspout
    2 Hurkyl's Recall
    1 Aetherize
    1 Crucible of Worlds
3 Vacant slots but wondering of including the Trinket Mage package

The reason I'm playing Mana Leak is only because I don't own any remands, but it's not really an issue. I'm playing Mana Leak over Spell Spierce because it doesn't get countered when I have Chalice on 1.
Speaking of Chalice : i'm concerned about the Affinity matchup, do you keep the Chalices post-side when you are on the play and drop one for 0 ?
I'll try to write down a full report of my result tomorrow and post it here Smile

I've been playing GR Tron since the modern exists but now I want to change a bit and I'd like to start playing MonoU Tron.
The only thing I'm wondering about is the matchups and the sideboard plans : are there decks the MonoU Tron version can't beat ? For exemple I know GR Tron has a lot of trouble against Combo and D&T but performs well against aggro. What exactly are the strenghts of the blue version and its flaws ?
PS : Sorry if my english has issues, not my primary language Smile
