If I have any of the flagbearer cards (ex: standard bearer) out, and my opponent tries to wrath or psuedo-wrath my board with a big storm spell (ex: grapeshot or temporal fissure), will they have to make every copy target the flagbearer, or just one of the copies?
Hey guys, first of all, i would just like to say that this thread is being very helpful to me, since i'm using it to build my first cube ever. I haven't entered the discussion yet because, as i just said, this is my first cube, and i don't know anynone who owns one, so i don't have any experience with cube rating, etc.
Anyway, the reason i'm posting this is because i have noticed you guys just ignored Corrupted Zendikon, here and in the critters section. Is it just bad?
I actually have it in my cube, and have been quite happy with it. 3/3 hasters for 3 in black is nothing to laugh at.
While we are on the subject of giving red an identity (and I use some goblin tribal as well), I was wondering how you guys make your red not suck compared to every other color. Outside of burn, their options are sooooo much worse. Do any of you run an LD package, my group is going to try it out.
P.S. Slivers didn't work for me, and we have a 400 or so card cube. Just hard to get enough.
I have a fairly standard common cube, and I am working on adding in M11. I am trying to decide if augury owl is worth replacing cloud of faeries and would very much appreciate your input.
Hey guys I don't know exactly when along these ROE comments were made but is there a reason you all left out dawnglare envokeror was it just not spoiled yet?
I feel like this thread needs to get up and running again, so I will get it started. Is there anyway to make your common cube more control friendly? Are there any common mass removal spells besides Evincar's Justice? How about any evasive, hard to kill finishers?
Omg will someone please eventually understand (outside of the people who do already get why eye is useless) that because eye is a land that cannot produce mana, it basically says:
T: add two colorless to your manapool. This mana may only be spent on eldrazi.
Thus, it only gives you one extra mana towards this guy, while putting you one mana behind the entire rest of the game. You can't even use it to play acceleration spells to get to him! Plus, you can only have one eye out, so its not like you can drop 4 and make him really inexpensive, and any extras become dead cards.
Unless efficient 2 or 3 drop eldrazi are printed that turn eye into more of an affinity engine, the card is still useless, even if it does make kozilek cost ONE less.
I agree with the signets, and believe everything on Fredmasters should go in besides fists of ironwood, grim harvest, and javelineers. I think those go slighlty beyond staples, though I could be wrong.
@neradox: I totally agree, I just figure 20 or so per color would be a good starting point for all common cubes.
Sounds like a good plan, it would be awesome if we could get a few more people's input. A core 20-25 cards per color would go a long way in starting to solidify common cubes throughout the forum
Comparing the two is very hard, because there are so many situations that they have the slightest variance towards one or the other. Personally, I think any common cube plays both, so the argument is largely moot, unless you end up with both in a pack
The only card I have problems with as being bare essentials in that list is lacerator, it isn't what I think of as one of blacks first auto-ins. Something like hymn instead.
Also, I've been noticing as I've been putting cards into my commons cube that I'm having trouble getting away from the ideas behind my regular cube. A lot of effects that are pretty meaningless in a 360 card cube with no restriction can be really good in a common cube, I'm just not sure what they are. So I guess, if anyone has any 'dark horse' commons they've found, let us know!

1. How do you add cards with apostrophes in them. It just gives me errors.
2. When I run a draft with 7 AI's, the packs stop coming after the first time around the table. Does anyone know why that happens?
