Sorry this is off-topic, but...Hunter?!? Unless I'm mistaken, I haven't seen a post by you around here in ages... Welcome back?!? Oh yeah, and this card still sucks.
I'm glad to see what the '100' card does, but I just updated the EVE text spoiler for Memnarch while I can only assume he's sleeping. This card is definitely not worth updating it again... This card blows...
mere /mɪər/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[meer] - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun 1.Chiefly British Dialect. a lake or pond. 2.Obsolete. any body of sea water.
[Origin: bef. 900; ME, OE; c. G Meer, ON marr, Goth marei, OIr muir, L mare]
folk /foʊk/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[fohk] - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun 1.Usually, folks. (used with a plural verb) people of a specified class or group: country folk; poor folks. 3.(used with a plural verb) people as the carriers of culture, esp. as representing the composite of social mores, customs, forms of behavior, etc., in a society: The folk are the bearers of oral tradition. 4.folks, Informal. a.members of one's family; one's relatives: All his folks come from France. b.one's parents: Will your folks let you go? 5.Archaic. a people or tribe. –adjective 6.of or originating among the common people: folk beliefs; a folk hero. 7.having unknown origins and reflecting the traditional forms of a society: folk culture; folk art. —Idiom8.just folks, Informal. Thusly
Merfolk can mean: people from a body of water
Selkies--being humanoid and living in water--can therefore be described as Merfolk.
I'm curious as to whether anyone has tried this list out on MWS, yet. It's a blast to play, and the recurring threats really make life hard for your opponents.
That'd be fine, in fact optimal in MOST circumstances. A turn two Smallpox is so game-breakingly important with this deck, that throwing in a 3rd in order to up the percentage of that play is acceptable. Many times, a 1st turn Thoughtseize into a 2nd turn Smallpox with a Flagstones out is enough to earn a scoop from my opponents. I run 3, and its hardly ever an issue.
Hey everyone this is my version of the seismic swans deck. I decided that since the dredge land and gaea's blessing is rotating out of standard in october, I would try to make a version that will still be standard come that time.
Creatures:
4X Swans of Bryn Argoll
Spells:
3X Idyllic Tutor
2X Wrath of God
3X Pollen Lullaby
4X Shard Volley
4X Incinerate
4X Manamorphose
3X Pyroclasm
Enchantments:
4X Seismic Assault
4X Wheel of Sun and Moon
Then let's wait to see what will be standard at that time to make this deck better. Making it worse, isn't going to help it out, and it wasn't that game-breaking in the first place.
why?
don't act like I draw Haakon EVERY game before I am dying because I played a lame, non-knight creature
all of the other discard outlets are usefull
funeral charm kills of X/1's
Oona's Prowler is an evasive beater
LOL! Hidden Horror is lame? Most knights are lame, sorry. Hidden Horror is a beater. Besides, one of the BEST...EVER methods of discarding Haakon and keeping the pressure on the opponent is Smallpox. Especially with Flagstones and Urborg, out.
^^^
I have to disagree. Shriekmaw is good, but with so much aggro and needed speed, tendrils is better. it comes to preference though. with me, shriekmaw is only good sorcery. you need the instant speed. if you want to use shriekmaw, use the makeshift mannequin and use the speed there.
Lol. I said there's no reason NOT to run Tendrils. The above lists were lacking them.
Seriously, though it could be pretty good. My one criticism is Goldmeadow Stalwart might become pointless in the deck. Eventually you're gonna run out of Kithkin in hand to play them later in the game, if you even get one in you're opening hand. In order to combat this, I might put Unmake in the sideboard and maindeck Nameless Inversion, which is still a relevant removal spell in the current standard...plus it's a Kithkin.
Interesting decklist. My only issue is that it should be Girls Not Grey. Girl's Not Grey implies that "Not Grey" belongs to a Girl, which sounds weird.
Plus if you are naming it after the AFI song, it's still Girls Not Grey still
The Bird and the Worm is a deck based on card advantage in the form of two retrace spells that both create multiple threats from a single card. Spectral Procession is another card that generates multiple threats. Kitchen Finks is a persistent threat and Hag Hedge-Mage can generate enormous card advantage.
Sideboard choices exist for the following reasons: Slaughter Pact is a great answer to Magus of the Moon. Krosan Grip is a great disenchant variant that swoops under counter magic and it's great for Bitterblossom. Crib Swap can remove theats from the game and the 1/1 token it leaves behind isn't that much of a problem when your threats number in the multiples of 10. Extirpate is the catch-all of standard problems right now.
Test it out, as I have on MWS and then leave any criticisms you may find in this thread.
The deck is a heavily recursive deck. While there aren't many varied threats in the deck, they are all difficult to deal with. Kitchen Finks has persist. Haakon can be replayed from the graveyard. Evershrike returns from the graveyard with added ability.
The sideboard is laid out as: Disenchant covers so many possible targets from Story Circle to Bitterblossom. Slaughter Pact takes care of Magus of the Moon. Pull from Eternity is to keep the recursion going, even after your opponent gets wise to the strategy. Extirpate knocks off opposing Evershrike, Haakon, persist creatures, combo pieces, Lark, Demigod of Revenge... You name it, this hits it.
Attempt the deck a few times to get a feel for it, then post back any feedback you have on it. I've been playing it quite a bit on MWS. Good luck!

Did I win the thread yet?
Opponent: I'll attack with five dorks for six damage.
ME: Uhhhhhhh, No?!? Bat Spray.

Sorry, Memnarch, but I was impatient and I updated the Eventide text spoiler to 173/173.
