It's important to note that the fact that Wizards really isn't a charity is not incompatible with wanting to buy singles at the lowest available price. It's also not incompatible with reprints: there is all the financial incentive in the world to discard the Reserve List and start reprinting more often, but that brings with it a whole mess of legal issues. Modern was initially created as a way around this.
...Contrary to what people may think, the average Magic player spends less than $50 on cards a month. ...
Yes, let's remember that the age of M:tG's target audience is middle school to college students. Disposable income isn't so readily available to this demographic.
Wait, is supposed that the emblem of Tamiyo allows me to return anything I cast, automill or discard to my hand? like using Lotus Petals for eternity and generate infinite mana???
Thank goodness they made these transforming cards. The game was getting too big and popular after finally getting back many of the players run off by Mirridon/Kamigawa. Now we can go from 36 players at my average FNM back the the 6-8 we should have.
And you have to tip your hat to the entertaining timing, too:
Mirrodin -> crappy Kamigawa -> Ravnica (YAY!)
Return to Mirrodin -> crappy* Innistrad -> return to Ravnica (YAY!)
I may pass on this block, but I'll be back in 12 months for sure.
It largely depends on whether or not the Apocalypse has happened and everything has degenerated to a lawless land where people are wearing tank tops and fighting over precious little resources. Savagery, pillaging, murder abundant, and the vile act of playing with cards without proper sleeves.
Hmm... considering the state of Libya / Syria and the fact that my Jace 2, Foil Garruk 2, Sword of mind and body (2, one foil), foil Sword of War and Peace, Chrome Mox and Doubling Season have never seen sleeves, this may have already occurred.
Same here.
My plan was to be less/not involved with Magic after RtR block, since I got married in June. This art making me reconsider that plan.
What legal issues?

I assume it's a combination of magical and political power. Probably moreso the latter.
It will likely be themed to match next year's block.
It absolutely can be a coincidence. We've got a sample size of 6, for crying out loud.
Yes, you could do that. Wow.
oh wow, very cool. I hadn't even noticed that. Thanks for pointing it out!

*speculation, but the likely case.
