According to the Gatherer for Mirror of Fate:
10/1/2009 You don't choose the exiled cards until Mirror of Fate's ability resolves. It doesn't matter how they wound up in the exile zone.
So, yes, you can sacrifice the Mirror. While the ability is on the stack play a card to exile the mirror from your graveyard, then when the ability resolves choose the mirror and 6 other cards.
Also, Gatherer says you can put the cards in any order and you do not have to show anyone that order:
10/1/2009 You choose the order that the chosen cards are put on top of your library. You don't have to show anyone else that order.

But seriously, I like it. It would be aggravating as hell to play against, but I like it. Only thing I'd try to squeeze in is a Doubling Season. -

All those who deny the sitting position are blasphemers and anti-glutuesers. My people also believe that the chair had to have first been worthy of sitting on, hence the concept of the "Immaculate Relaxation".Posted in: Thoughts on Religion.

It's not really good, but it's something so weird people should check it out. I can say without question it's the best animated French movie from the 70s involving giant blue aliens that keep humans as pets.Posted in: Alacar's Design Zone

Considering we share opinions on "Blair Witch" and "28 Days Later" I might throw "Diary of the Dead" in my Netflix queue.
Oh, and I do remember Ghouls 'n Ghosts & Ghosts 'n Goblins -- some of the hardest and most frustrating video games ever. -
Oct 11, 2007muchsarcasm posted a message on What's wrong with Lorwyn and other narrowly focused blocksPE, you make a good point. The game should not revolve around a single player demographic; but for the next six or seven months that's exactly what it's going to do. Luckily, this block is only a 2-set block as opposed to the usual 3-set block meaning it won't extend for nine or ten months.Posted in: muchsarcasm Blog
My problem is that Lorwyn is kind of a one food buffet. That or it's the Monty Python "Spam" sketch. I can have anything I want as long as it's got spam in it.
What's funny is that the Time Spiral set dipped into tribal without pigeonholing people into it. Off the top of my head they had slivers, rebels, and fungi. You could even say "Eye" as they had two creatures that were powerful and hindered your non-Eye creatures. (Hmmm, maybe I want to make an Eye/Shapeshifter deck.)
And it's not so much that I don't appreciate the cards, at least not their effectiveness. Tribal cards are good cards, it's just that they kind of take the creativity out of the game. It's very pre-fabricated, and months from now if I look back on these cards I'll continue to appreciate their effectiveness but not their versatility. -
Oct 9, 2007muchsarcasm posted a message on What's wrong with Lorwyn and other narrowly focused blocksThanks for the comments, folks. I haven't had a chance to play with any Lorwyn yet, but judging by the spoiler I have to agree that it is less intensely focused on tribes than the Onslaught block was. There are less cards that absolutely insist on being played in a tribal deck, and there are more that can be thrown into existing decks. But it's still tribal, and I'm still going to have a sizeable amount of useless cards in each pack because I don't play tribal.Posted in: muchsarcasm Blog
One thing that surprised me a little was the lack of any anti-tribal cards in the set. As you know, sometimes when a block has a focus they put in a few hosers just in case it becomes too unbalancing. Mirridon block had its fair share of anti-artifact cards. I'm guessing they felt the anti-tribal cards from Onslaught were too powerful. Even something small like Crown of Suspicion would demolish a few decks. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
It began several years ago, when our hero now known as Serebrus_08 was living in The Facility, and ultra-secret compound where clones of the rich and famous lived to later be used for organ transplants (not unlike that breakthrough in cinema, Parts: The Clonus Horror. Each subject was named after a phonetically correct but misspelled character in Greek mythology followed by a number (indicating what generation of clone he or she was). His best friends at The Facility included Afrodite_12, Upollo_02, Hifestus_25, and... Serberus_08? More on that later.
One day the one now known as Serberus_08 found a Gray Ogre on the ground near the edges of The Facility. Some of the guards must have been playing, but it inspired our hero to think that there might be a world outside of The Facility. He tried to convince his friend, the real Cerberus_08. The friend believed him but foolishly took the card and went to the guards at The Facility to get answers. He was struck down to prevent other clones from questioning their existence. The man in the post above this one snuck into the lab and found his dead friend, the bloodied Gray Ogre still on his person. He took the card and swore vengeance on all who ran The Facility.
He escaped in a laundry truck to the outside world, carrying only that revised edition Gray Ogre to motivate him. He found the man he was cloned from, a rich tycoon who was more than aware of death toll he was partly responsible for. "Who are you?" the original asked. "I am Zoos_05!"
No one ever knew that the original man had that night been replaced by his clone, or why the man used his riches to expose The Facility and have it stopped. With his vengeance complete, Zoos_05 then took to enjoying the world including taking up the game that inspired him that one day. He gave himself the username of Serberus_08 in honor of his friend.
Earlier this year he got 4th place in Legacy tournament. Few if any noticed an odd item in his sideboard: A red-spotted revised Gray Orge.
That, or he just liked the name Serberus_08.
Best of luck! It's a fun card to build from.
"So you're letting Auriok Glaivemaster get through? Ok, I'll sac the quest, play a Spellbinder, equip my creature, and imprint Decree of Savagery."
4 Mimic Vat
4 Grinding Station
Artifact creatures
4 Clone Shell
4 Summoner's Egg
4 Myr Sire
4 Myr Battlesphere
4 Triskelavus
4 Perilous Myr
4 Atog
Land
4 Cloudpost
4 Glimmervoid
4 Great Furnace
12 Mountain
So what does this deck do?
It has several artifact creatures that produce additional creatures when they enter or leave the battefield. With the Mimic Vat it tries to make multiple copies of those creatures. The Clone Shells and Summoner's Eggs are to get the Triskelavi and Battleshperes out quickly.
Does it require Grinding Station to win?
While Grinding Station is the most effective win condition (e.g. Play Battlesphere, trigger 5 copies of the Station's untap ability, sacrifice 6 artifacts, mill 18 cards, Mimic Vat the just sacrificed Battleshpere, trigger 5 more copies of the Station's untap ability, mill 15 more cards for a total of 33.) it can't go off well without the Mimic Vat. It can also win by Mimic Vatting a slew of token creatures and overrunning the opponent, getting one Atog through, or using the tokens' direct damage abilities.
This doesn't seem very wacky.
Yeah, not really. I had some wacky deck concepts but they only used the Vat and weren't centered around them.
ETA: Gah! I can't read!
Aerial Caravan
Djinn of Wishes
Elkin Bottle
Knackshaw Clique
There is Mirror of Fate but that's tricky in its own way.
Blue/Black has several milling cards if you want to go that route. If you do maybe even through in some cards that you can play from your graveyard.
But that's just one idea, like I said there's probably a lot of things you can work with.
