Meh, I hope they deal these out like candy for this crap. I could say more. But their bad business practices don't seem to matter until sales eventually drop and tournaments stop being run. Which might even be there goal at this point to make magic 100% online. Wizards will have to fund this in some hidden way. O yeah guys we total aren't run by Wizards still.
    RA – Free
    Level 1 – $100
    Level 2 – $200
    Level 3 – $400

Those prices are gross for the cards contained with in. No doubt the card board crack addicts will be buying them. Wizards getting me less interested in spending money all of the time on magic cards. Spending money on $32 video game I'll spend more than a month of time on confirmed at this point. Now if I can find away around getting taxed on it. That would be nice.

Oko, Thief of Crowns The loyalty is just way too high for a design at 3 mana. 6 or 5 when it comes into play and plus it. Their targeted hate in standard wasn't good enough dealing only 5 damage. Fry
You could make a instant, 2 mana, deal 6 damage to target legendary permanent.
The problem they have created is fairly consistent. Lack of answers for large threats creature or planeswalker. In red, green, and white.
If I can boomerang or Thoughtseize. Then Oblivion Ring seems slow in comparison. I think there is more color specific red. I can't find something with target planeswalker at 2 mana that would be effective. Even at 3 mana I'm not sure what would be effective. There are a ton of 3 mana creature grab effects. Just like other posters I'm not sure what greens going to do either.
Green could be Collector Ouphe change it to planeswalkers. Prior to planeswalkers green had an ok solution of fog for creatures. I do also think that fight should just be re-made with a another key word. Effects that deal direct damage from a creature without fighting exist. Aggressive Instinct just change the wording to include planeswalkers. Instant fix. But if I can kill a creatures with flying at instant speed for 2 mana.Plummet Why can't I have another narrow card that just says planeswalker? Make it GG sorcery speed.Or if I can do this at 3 mana Crushing Canopy why not say flying creature or planeswalker? Planeswalkers sure unbalanced death touch creatures.

    Other examples
You could have GG, enchantment, target planeswalker or creature. Enchanted permanent loses all abilities and becomes a 3/3. Seems like green can do that now. Also green can do this Song of the Dryads.
    Red
R, sorcery, flip a coin, if you win the flip destroy target planeswalker, if you lose the flip take 3 damage.
2R, sorcery, gain control of target planeswalker until end of turn.
1R, instant, deal 6 damage to target planeswalker.
    White
If I can path to exile. I need a path to planeswalker at 1.
Lots of options. They just need to print something.

I can't get behind the new format. Bannings or whatever. It really just feels like a lazy modern. Massive cop out to a easy fix of the modern format with $4 masters products and a few more bannings. meh.......... Feels like the junior league. They really should have just brought back extended. Their long term plan is to kill off modern. So we might not have much of a choice with the slow phase out. RIP Vintage, RIP Legacy, and now RIP Modern. Unless Pioneer is just terribly boring to play.

That's just way too many products. No thanks. I'll be excited to read the new cards but I'm not a buyer.

People have already started buying up cards for the format. Siege Rhino went from $1 to $4 two days after the announcement. A lot of high volume buyout gambling is happening right now. Makes me not want to even bother with the format. At this point they can print Pioneer Masters in Summer 2020 or just forget about the format. I also don't feel like playing against Siege Rhino anymore. Everyone was trilled when it was gone.

prices will stabilize, but i absolutely agree. people in this very thread have complained about the cost to get into modern, and this will be no different in very short order. they can't just go and reprint tons of stuff without adversely effecting standard so they forced themselves yet again into a corner where they won't do anything about the secondary market but it consistently causes a problem because of their approach to reprints

Every card in pioneer is also in modern. Once they do another modern masters they can reprint pioneer stuff.

right, because they handled that so well. Remember Tarmogoyf getting the mythic treatment, despite the initial announcement of the new rarity sounding a lot like 'we will not do it to SPECIFICALLY Tarmogoyf type cards'? they will take Modern and Pioneer tournament staples (and not nearly enough of either) put anything with real value at mythic, and put them in $7-10 packs with a bunch of chaff that not even the drafters are happy to see. they discontinued the Masters series because aside from the last hurrah of Ultimate, they ran it into the ground through poor implementation, and Modern still has a bunch of cards approaching or exceeding $100 apiece. and most of the problem cards are from sets with relatively lower print runs. I am skeptical about anything in this new format holding a high price, but Wizards can't really fix it if something does. say a card from BFZ skyrockets, TKS perhaps. if that absurd print run didn't provide us with enough copies, a Masters set won't be able to touch it. idk what the print run numbers of ANY set was, but I would wager that even after multiple Masters set reprints, there are still fewer copies of Tarmogoyf in the world than a given BFZ mythic. they need to go back to real reprints in core sets

It's hard for me to imagine them doing a Full 100% reprint core set anymore. It can be the Pioneer core set.It would be really easy to sell. Just as easy to promote. Pioneer Origins. You power up standard for one cycle. Hard print everything. Then they can keep putting 1-5 re-prints in normal sets after that like they already have been doing. $4 a pack, no one complains. It would be great. Promo Jace, Vryn's Prodigy. They need to stop feeding us this design bs. You can print anything you want in a core set. That would positively effect stores and players. You can even down grade rares to uncommon if there isn't enough room. There is plenty of room at uncommon for rares that can be down graded. Cards that cost 6+ mana can be reprinted at uncommon. You know cards that were going to be printed anyway such as Palisade Giantor Sphinx of the Chimes. It would power up the set a little bit. Then you just have to print powered up removal as well.
    Uncommon

    Exile target create.
The only draw back is that it is sorcery speed.

Discard a card. Deal x damage to target create. Where x is the discarded cards converted mana cost.

Isn't Fabled Passage gonna see heavy play? And that's sorta a fetchland. I was hoping the format wouldn't have heavy shuffling effects. Now it feels like a way to rotate out khans fetchlands or something, i don't know.

Do we even have enough players for this format? It's hard enough to fire modern sometimes.

No there aren't enough players. That's the thing that wizards doesn't get. Attendance is going down. A lot of people have moved on to cheaper hobbies.

Do you seriously think WotC knows less about attendance numbers than you, a random person on the internet? Because, no. Maybe attendance numbers will be a problem- I don't know, I haven't looked at the data- but if they do, it won't be because WotC is making this decision in ignorance of attendance numbers.

Yes I do know more about attendance numbers than Wizards of the Coast. I know more about Magic The Gathering than employees at Wizards. There are huge areas of low attendance around me. I've seen the player base decline for years. Return to Ravnica was the player pool height and it's been dropping since then. That's why they printed Ravnica 3 and are going to print Zendikar 3. Again, yes, I do know more about magic than Wizards does.

MTG is at a point now where Wizards of the Coast really needs to start downsizing the number of formats it has in order to help lower demand for popular cards in the Secondary Market. If they don't then the barrier level of entry is only going to continue to get worse for those who want to play MTG but can't afford it especially for EDH / Commander players who want to take advantage of purchasing cards rotating out of Standard but now can't due to inflation.

Pioneer needs to replace Modern where as EDH / Commander has already effectively replaced Legacy and Vintage. The only people who continue to play Legacy and Vintage are those who bought into the vast majority of Reserve List cards 20 years ago before they spiked astronomically. Brawl is failing because card rotations in a 60 card Singleton format is too tedious and time consuming.

All Wizards has to do if reprint cards more often. They choose not to. They figured out they can make more money from a large amount of supplementary products where they put 1 or 2 reprints in for people to buy it. They have a bunch of cardboard crack addicts that need a goal of getting those highs in high value cards. Wizards also knows that stores make more money off of singles than sealed products. There was nothing wrong with their old 100% reprints core sets except that they chose to print too much crap. Nothing wrong with their masters sets except they charged too much money for them. They could choose a different business model and print 5 high value cards each standard set until they run out of cards over $40. They still choose not to do that. They are very wrong in the way they have been conducting business for years. They created a black market of magic card printers because of their lack of reprints. If the top a card could go to was around $40 there would be no black market. There would be no need for another new format.

At this point they should just bring back extended or something similar to it. Obviously people are going to play an official Wizards format. They can use this new Modern to have old Modern fade away. Just like legacy and vintage faded away. Mostly due to price of the cards. If it's cheaper than modern it's going to be more popular.

Budget card they said. 30 euros now. Do you think price for it will still go up?

Yes. Once MH1 dries up (by December, I believe) all the lands will start to rise in value. I think the cap for this one is around 50$. I would also expect that almost every single card will start to rise once in 2020. MH1 has such a massive impact on eternal formats it's really not smart to underestimate it.

The price of booster boxes is at around the $200 again. Any lower prices for $180 are all gone. Stores were paying about $166 for them. The prices are high because they have to be. You can't make enough money off of non-rares to matter when the starting price is so high. Buying a regular box for $60 and selling for $90 is way less risk. If you need a card from the set get it before January. Also buy a box now if you still want one. At $200 you maybe break even. The box value is only about $180.

what we want is silver bordered , non - legal , VINTAGE pre-constructed decks
    .

But... but... what about the reserv....

    Yeah, I got nothing.

Silver border cards are fairly steadfast in the realm of unset territory. We're more likely to see Blacker Lotus or something g really goofy like White Lotus but non-legal versions of Vintage legal cards? Might as well print gold borders again.

I'd also like silver bordered or gold bordered reserve list cards. It would be great. Or people will just keep buying the fakes online. Underground sea for about $3 is super appealing to a lot of people. Getting that silver bordered Wizards official also for $3 would be nice.

Unsets are fun, I've played a bunch of them. It's fun for a weekend or two.

    Not happening.

Foiled again by the reserve list. I guess we shall all have to purchase our EDH dual lands not from Wizards.
A little unsure as to these being premade decks. Boosters would have been fine. Then again rarity doesn't make much sense for non-tournament playable cards Makes it easier to get all of the cards.

I was fine with return to Zendikar. But they really need to stop these repeat sets. I'm probably going to like it but ugh..... Sure, Ravnica 4 coming soon!
