I know she's supposed to be all graveyardy and stuff, but... I prefer slapping a bunch of nostalgic, broken cards on her. She's the face of B in my mind.
That said... I'm sure she'd have more graveyard junk and probably interacts with touching the opponent in a bad way. But still, a man can dream.
Have you thought about Regrowth? it buffs the Fiend, recurs him (if he died), grabs countered spells, and berserk+regrowth+berserk (though really, really heavy on the green) is 28 points of trample, even without an "unblockable" spell.
she'll go peeeeeerfectly into my casual-vorthos ensnaring bridge burn/control deck. hell, i'm currently using old skool chandra; this will be a direct upgrade.
though i had figured her -2 would have been the - ability on that Izzetwalker we know virtually nothing about...
even before dotp2012, as soon as we started getting inklings that Innistrad was "probably graveyard based" literally my FIRST thought was "reprint lavamancer, rotate out bolt."
/happy chair dance
Now if Chandra can be reasonably costed -- both mana and $$$ -- i might actually play standard this year! :U
Funky armcontraptions! Izzet has alwayyyys been my favorite. Even if we aren't headed to Ravnica anytime soon, I think Wizards recognizes it as an awesome setting to draw from.
I was still holding my breath for a reintroduction of Niv-Mizzet as the first U/ Planeswalker, but I guess it's time to let it go.
"Gothic Red" to me has a sort of cultish "burn it all down" mentality--and I like two different takes on this.
1) a sect with a very calculated desire to tear down the setting itself in song and fire (perhaps too closely related to Rakdos?)
2) quasi-innocent revelers participating in an orgy of blood and thunder, completely unaware of the destruction their drunken passion wreaks (think Goblins without the intrinsic comic relief)
/fingers crossed
3) lastly, perhaps more "gothic," we have a group who are mourning... something... and setting the world ablaze in homage or something.
really i just like the idea of a red cult. baseless speculation for the win.
the gamble idea sounds most sound. gilded drake at random sounds pretty awesome but less likely.
i doubt the 3 fingers are significant, but if so... was thinking something along the lines of orcish artillery, with card draw... {tap}: draw a card, it deals 3 damage to you.
or maybe you pay 3 to activate an ability? what else would traders do? he looks pretty moderately intimidating, i was thinking maybe something like a smaller, reusable browbeat.
with Chandra's ultimate ability, can you add the kicker costs of red instants and sorceries?
i.e., does it work like isochron scepter? i figure it does, the major difference being that the stick copies the spell before casting it, but the casting portion is the important part. eh?
EDIT: this should also have been in the New Card Rulings subforum; I apologize for the misplacement.
Now that you can provide some built-in protection to your own creatures by throwing an extra blockers in front, I wouldn't be surprised to see Provoke creatures make a comeback.

Somehow.

i hope he's fun.
