Aside from the many issues about Chandra and Nissa, and the writing skills of Greg Weissman, I believe another main issue was that a lot was happening and had to be cover in one book.
I mean, Sorin and Nahiri suddenly made up, when we had a card where this was a focus. So many names had to be mention to meet the quota stated by Creative, I get it, it’s cool to have a character mention but this was done in excess.
The lack of memorable deaths also affected. We could have more interesting losses such as Kiora, Nissa (yes I get it, she was Chandra love interest but this would have been a tragic loss), Jaya, Teferi (yes I know he just have returned) Ajani (another tragic loss but Nicol was his nemesis as well). This really affected the view on the War, because aside from the anticlimactic dead of Dack and Domri, only Gideon had meaning and the others were characters in the background of the background.
The disconnection between cards and story has really impacted Vorthos for a lot of time, and here it was quite the issue, they must improve that area.
The delay of the Theros novel is welcome if it will give us a quality material, hopefully it will. I still remember when MaRo said in Battle for Zendikar “THIS IS THE VORTHOS ERA”, well, today I found that era to be over.
Good day. Yesterday I downloaded the new game for mobile called ManaStrikers and found an interesting skin for gideon:
Heart of Aether Gideon which is a construct machine, could this hint a return?
Unfortunately the only info we have on Calix and probably the only thing will be that small paragraph. I hope we at least got a summary page with description of the events in this block, and more depth to Klothys. I have a theory about her but without any more info it is just pure speculation
I hope they at least write some short stories that expand on what happens.... frankly I can’t believe that everyone in Creative believes that only this short paragraphs will satisfy Vorthos people. Aside from sending emails or tumblr to MaRo, do you know how to ask for more lore?
Perhaps by using Immortal Sun and the Law Magic embedded in Ravncia Nicol Bolas is trying to set himself as the “Guildpact” of the Multivere, therefore becoming his absolute master and perhaps that way recover his former powers. As I remember the immortal sun can empower the one who stands in it.
Congratulations to Jay for helping in continuity with Magic Story!!! The best encyclopedia for all Story!!!
It seems that we will get a story later about Tezzeret and the theft of the planar bridge... I wonder if he also has the Paradox Engine in his collection.
Didn't we get this story? He added the core to himself before he fought Liliana and then walked away when he was losing.
Only the flavor text reference of Paradox Engine... I always wonder if after the confiscation he stole this artifact. One can dream haha

And for today’s story... I got a feeling that Nicol and Ugin will be the ones to start the Elder Dragon War... I really liked Ugin and Nicol sharing the name and then he adding “Bolas”... I wonder if we will see a glimpse of how Ugin met the eldrazi.
I just check in the mothership that the planeswalkers Rowan and Will are listed as one (In the section of Story->Planeswalker), but when I try to enter the page, it says unauthorized access.... perhaps they are working at least in the bio for the twins
Yeah that seems to be Elspeth Cape, but I am pretty sure this is Alara (with the Cape an error or because it looks cool). They would not kill Ajani in a Core Set, which has no new story. And I am pretty sure, that Core Sets do not have story spotlights.
And I am sure, that his first incarnation PW has this as an ultimate - with the Avatar here being an 4/4 like the Bolas dragon - seems flavorful
"For starters, we looked for a way to specifically tie it to the story. For Core Set 2019, the decision was made to use the set to look back at the origin of the main antagonist of the current storyline, Nicol Bolas. It didn't advance the current story but allowed us to fill in a lot of information to make the audience more aware of who Nicol Bolas is and what he's done in the past. Nicol Bolas has been involved in a lot of Magic storylines over the years, and Core Set 2019 serves as a primer to help everyone get up to date on one of the game's biggest villains."
So it is no new story and the card pretty sure fits the Alara story very good
Thanks for the confirmation of being the climax of the Alara battle in the Maelstrom. I guess because Ajani seems more badas with the long cape they leave it on the art (which doesn’t bother me). Still hoping for a day when Ajani is printed as a 3 color walker
It all seems to be the Alara final battle, but in that moment Ajani didn’t have Elspeth’s cape as shown in this art... I wonder if this could happen in this set... if so I will mourn because we will never get a Naya Ajani hahaha but we’ll see
Could it be possible that the fight between Darigaaz and Tarox Bladewing (stated by their bios) will be a consequence of the events of this story? I have a feeling that the primeval dragons could be the heirs to the first elder dragons.
The implication is that the Primevals are a later clutch of dragons spawned by the Ur-Dragon.
I'm not sure what the Darigaaz/Tarox fight you're referring to is. I don't see that implication in their bios. It might happen, because Tarox seeks supremacy and will eventually eat his siblings, but that version of Tarox hasn't happened yet (and may not come to pass).
An apology, I did a big assumption that in the bio for Verix that his son is secretly seeking to take control of the dragons from the champion Darigaaz, and him seeking to undo the wrongs of the past as a leader, could be an issue that was started here. I just want in a return to Dominaria to witness the battle between these two dragons.

Is just since it mentions Heliod’s spear Khrusor and not Godsend, it got me confuse. Thanks!
