Well what i'm saying is that why would they print spells that are almost exact copies of other already-existant ones except they take out the regeneration clause, unless there was going to be playable creatures with regeneration. Like, however much you take away all things that hate on regeneration drudge skeletons will probably never be played.
We are all still in the mindset that regeneration is a useless ability, except as an additional ability to already good cards like Troll Ascetic.
WOTC is attempting to change that by having less and less spells that trump regeneration. Correct me if I am wrong, but in Alara and M10, Path to Exile, Terminate, Child of Alara and Polymorph are the only cards that can kill regenerators.
(Celestial Purge and the like are conditional but do take note they exist)
What I am saying is that these creatures are slowly getting more and more playable because of their regeneration ability.
Everyone says that it isn't as good because you can still Regenerate.... are there any good cards right now that actually do that?
I think that the removal of the anti regeneration clause of almost all removal (save exile) will make regeneration matter more. Right now the perception is that regeneration is a trivial ability... but we'll see...
Its actually a nicer design than wrath, given that it interacts (positively and negatively) with regeneration.
Wizards believe almost all (at least competitive) players have full sets of Wrath and will not buy more... so why not print a "new" staple everybody will be buying all over again. Plus- removing anti regeneration provides a good excuse.
EDIT: Actually, as a budget casual player: Thank you, Wizards! Wrath will get cheaper.
Finally found it.
It's not something they like to do, it's something they want to do, which playing lands does fit the bill.
Great digging and I agree. Compare to Retrace, which gives tension to whether to play the land or "retrace" the land into a spell. Landfall is almost a win-win mechanic. Especially now in standard there are no Geddon Effects except for Ajani.
A strange mechanic and highly favors green. Unless of course they give land tutors to all the other colors, or just make a bunch of artifact land fetchers.
You mean like basic land cycling?
Other than that, I agree, green will definitely have an advantage abusing this mechanic.
Spoiler wise, I think its good they spoil something we already know, builds up suspense
The next would probably the Name.. and hopefully give these whiners something to whine about.
Wow, drafting these lands higher than bad cards is now a viable money draft strategy.
Haha yes, that would probably happen.
The roots of the 2nd pic not touching the pyramid/obelisk looks a bit weird to me. But the concept of a giant forest is great... surprising they thought of this just now.
Comparing the wallpapers I like them all, but probably like the Island Cups the least.
Saw it. Doubtful though, apparently only one old mechanic is returning, and that would be Kicker, according to the preview cards. ^^
Second this. Splice wont be returning this time around.
EDIT: Splice onto Traps would be bad. Reason why Splice sucked was because it only worked in one block... Wizards has learned from that and won't do the exact same mistake.
Flavorwise, traps makes most send in Blue (trickery) and White (retaliation).
That is why they are creating a worls where the mechanics makes sense.
(Kinda like Oddeysey gave graveyard mechanics to all colors)
Mechanics wise, Traps fit all colors. They could be punishing opposing startegies.
Whiplash Trap Trap mechanic is nice.. especially the preview card.. what a way to punish aggro!
Kor Sanctifiers... Dominarian linked flavor.. hmmm intriguing.....
Kicker is back!?! Of course a versatile mechanic.. will depend on the actual cards...
I kinda hope they would release a set with no returning mechanic to give us an entirely new feel. Tribal set the return cycling, Multicolor set then return Kicker? I'm not pattern-mongering but I just hope for a set with all new shiny mechanics.
Beast Hunt... a "fixed" Harmonize?.... but probably should cost 1GG or lets you reveal 4.
Exploration is a good card... a real possible reprint if lands are the theme. But I hope the come up with something better (not necesarily more powerful, but something that could be better suited for the environment, whatever that may be)
Also, if anyone does not like the topic, why not just simply ignore it?
Lands are pretty good looking so far, and the environment really is intriguing. Wizards marketing sure is doing a good job hyping the set... even mere basic lands generate so much hype!
Sad news for sure. Normally the internet is a messy, uncivilized place, but mtgsalvation has been my haven for people talking about the game they love.
Good luck on your next adventure and thanks for the years of fun.

Good news is.. hopefully they learn from this and not do this again.

Planeswalkers are designed to be able to win the game by themselves. These three when combined cannot let you win by itself.

Personally I hope that Zen is just the homeworld of Kor and that's it...

Hideous End - Just an OK card

If the entire set would be flying, the basic lands should themselves be flying, a la Urza Block Plains.
