It is anti-synergystic with Briarhorn (which is easily removed) and Invigorate, which can be lessened. Snuff out is also nice. I will update the original post...
At first I though is was rather silly speculation to relate floating objects to floating mana.. but it actually probable.
Remember that they made a world where the mechanic makes sense?
Mana in your mana pool matters is very likely. The flavor could be: when you tap a land for mana... it manifests by floating objects.. and these objects power your spells. And the objects crashing? Thats when your mana pools empty as per normal rules.
That is indeed using mana differently.
I like where this thread is going... speculate on. Great ideas coming here.
EDIT: And also finally a new refreshing theme/mechanic.
Really interesting world. It feels like a world with so much raw power. I understand it feels like TS, but I think this is not like a cataclysmic event... just this plane is normally like this.
Really intrigues me how the mana behaves differently here... please Wizards, tell us before our expectaions go too high
Rules does not prevent them from happening (Its just like a Mistveil Plains without an ability).
But, it is unnecessary to do this even from a flavor perspective. Set after set, the flavor of basic lands change. That is why a Sunny Bog can be a Swamp, Aqueducts can be islands, Floating meadows can be plains, Metal wires can be forests and rock monoliths can be mountains. The flavor can sill be evoked without having to change names.
Hopefully they continue the trend... wish they did that in M10 (but not complaining).. because the lands are too plane specific... and wont go with many of my decks (yes.. I match the basic land art with the theme of the deck)
Hopefully they make 100% of all lands like this from now on. Full art for the masses!
If they cost the same here.. I guess its worth it... the planechase cards are worth approx $1 each... which is like an expensive jank rare you might put in a choas deck.
Though I wish you cannot respond to a Plane shift, it feels more powerful that way. The chaos ability is a nice touch, and is not reproducible by normal chaos cards (which is probably why they added it), The chaos icon is just ok.
If the sets don't jack up in price, and I have the extra money.. will probably buy.
River of Tears makes sense as more of a tainted like Cycle, with blue always present.
It could be like
UW - River of Ice
UB - River of Tears
UR - River of Acid
UG - River of Nectar
(sorry fo the names, just though of ones in seconds)
Unfortunately, Wizards says they wont make a Tormant like unbalanced set.
Thanks. I was also thinking about dropping the Manaplasm aspect... as it does not have trample and thus pumping it would be near useless. Briarhorn and Shriekmaw would have lesser need to be in the deck.
Basically False Cure and The Predator works with the Free spells; and the free spells and evoke spells work with the Manaplasm.
Things I am considering for the 7 slots:
1. Search or Discard for the protection of the combo.
2. More creatures as the evoke creatures feel more like spells.
No format required, but of course banned lists are honored.
Also pretty much budget. If you have suggestions beyond the 7 cards... feel free to add.
What do you think?
The way they portray planeswalkers are interesting indeed. Normally characters come and go.. and forgotten. But Planeswalkers really go from one plane (set) to another. They are always there.. who knows who we meet again during one of our travels....
Its also nice that they could literally be reprinted with the flavor that they too traveled in the plane "we" currently are travelling in.
Looking forward to Tezzeret (among others) returning and or evolving.
Sad news for sure. Normally the internet is a messy, uncivilized place, but mtgsalvation has been my haven for people talking about the game they love.
Good luck on your next adventure and thanks for the years of fun.

Of course no rule stops them from being replaced, or not at all printed.

Remember though, that only 2 of 4 of each basic land is revelaed. So a floating object for white is still possible.

Any other ideas? Anyone?
What do you think the other 7 spells should be?
4 Kavu Predator
4 Manaplasm
4 Shriekmaw
4 Briarhorn
4 Skyshroud Cutter
4 Invigorate
4 Reverent Silence
3 False Cure
7 Others
11 Swamp
11 Forest

Slivers are not yet ruled out.
So Virulent Sliver is still possible.
However, if one of them is proved to be in Zen, the other will not necessarily be in as you are suggesting.
