I have been playing Craig Wescoe's build with a few modifications and Smuggler's Copter and the walkers build. It is very different and I am not decided on it. I like how it grinds out the match (even against UW control) and Jund, and provides way more value than either deck can generate on their own. Copter does some serious work and makes the tokens, manlands, and avoiding board wipes have more value. The deck really emphasizes non-interaction and prevent opponents from responding to our flooding the board. It both goes wide and runs one threat and since most decks run sorcery speed wipes, it evades removal so much as to make even the wipes irrelevant. It makes Gideon, BB, and Lingering Souls a turn faster as well. Plus, pissing away removal not the Copters is satisfying in the tempo race because we still net a token from the exchange.
I don't disagree, and the issue of splash is apparently pretty nebulous right now. I just thought it was an interesting take and could imagine wescoe saying something like this for tokens.
De la Torre ran a four of deathrite shaman for mana acceleration. That is probably the biggest thing here. Voice is probably not the good.
Siege rhino could be. And aside from Oath of Ajani the other stuff is pretty stock. I don't think oath of ajani will play out for us but we won't know if we don't play around.
Its strength lies in the fact that, like young pyromancer in delver, if it is unanswered, it can run away with the game. If the games starts to drag on, those tokens build up and make it difficult for an opponent to deal with. At the least, they chump block. But when we get a Sorin or Anthems, we can run away with games. Raise the Alarm can't do that. Choose what is best for your meta.
I am going to pull one for a timely reinforcements. But I want the ability to hit them in a pinch when they search for a land. The other idea is that it would hit for a nahiri or chord of calling.
I am not saying it is the best list. But someone posted about old school tokens and I made it up.
I am still not sold on Ghostly Prison, the timely is a concession to Burn. I am not even going to try against Tron and the same goes for Merfolk. Flaying Tendrils or Wrath of God was in the side, but I think we are better off improving the matches where we stand a chance than ones where we don't.
So I plan on making a major update to the primer. Please:
- send me a decklist (yes fine you can send me a splash list too)
- suggested cards list
- matchup analysis
In the grand scheme of things: when you deploy yard hate, the chances that it hurts your opponent way more than you are just outrageous. Flashback is minuscule against the benefits of a RiP or other similar effects against the decks you target. Living End and Dredge are basically murdered by the effect. Even if they draw into destruction effects, it sets them back however many turns it takes which can often be enough for us to win.
In a traditional BW build, Fatal Push is an auto 4 of. We can run 22-23 lands no problem because path becomes a land tutor if necessary.
I am going to continue testing it out.
Red splash still seems better.
