Torpor Orb stops some triggered abilities from triggering. Triggered abilities always begin with one of the words "When", "Whenever", or "At".
Shrewd Hatchling's ability begins with the words "Shrewd Hatchling", which is not on the list, so it isn't a triggered ability. That means Torpor Orb doesn't affect it.
So Nyxathid is out of the question to? Dangnabbit!!
That was the only other picture on the Dimir page you linked to that had any resemblance to what you described. It's either that or Lazav, who is also not wearing anything with the Dimir symbol.
The charm image is not Duskmantle. Just like none of the other guildhalls are actually pictured in any of the other images on any of the other guild profile pages. This is a bit of magic planted for use by Dimir agents hidden among the architecture of a building that only appears to form the shape of the guild sign when viewed from a certain angle.
On that page they have this:
Lazav, the Dimir Mastermind. Lazav is a shapeshifting mage who serves as the nexus of telepathic impressions of the entire Dimir network. He (or she, or it) shapeshifts into a variety of guises as his needs and plans require; he may step out into the Ravnican streets as an elderly widow to eavesdrop at the bazaar, become a vedalken hussar to sidestep a checkpoint, or transform into a Tin Street merchant to deceive a passing noble. Some Dimir agents believe that Lazav plots against Niv-Mizzet to discern the dragon’s hidden endgame and twist it for his own purposes.
and below is a pic of Lazav..
Next they have this:
Duskmantle: Restored but Undisclosed. Duskmantle, the Dimir guildhall, fell into disrepair after the previous guildmaster, Szadek, fell from power and the knowledge of how to access it was lost. Duskmantle has been recreated in a new location deep within the Ravnican undercity, shielded by memory wards. Few know of the existence of this House Dimir nerve center, and even fewer know how to locate it. Many who learn the way lose that memory soon after.
And the picture of what we now know as the guild charm, but is clearly a pic of a large hall. I'm just saying, that is decorative sunroof more then a charm.
So? It's still a glowing Dimir symbol, even if it's in a somewhat different context than in the other nine pieces. It's very fitting of House Dimir, since their agents obviously wouldn't be wearing a symbol of their affiliation on their clothing or weapons.
The other piece of art is for Duskmantle Guildmage and always has been.
I wasn't talking bout the guildmage, I never once mentioned him.
I am thinking from a flavor standpoint, that's all. I picture the guild members wearing the charms would activate it by touching it or whatever and the effects would happen. In order for this charm to work, the people you use it on have to be in the guild hall, which seems somewhat inefficient.
I know, which doesn't match the rest of the "charm" theme. All of them are glowing symbols being worm or on a item they are wearing, this is a decorative ceiling.
Anyone else notice the card art is not actually a charm, but a pic that should be a land? Even in the Guild Guide they use it for Duskmantle, the main guild hall
My LGS does a special Sealed every year when the new core set releases that has one pack of every set in Standard (so this year it would be M13, ISD, DKA, AVR, RTR, GTC, DGM, and M14). This could be an entertaining addition for it.
Maybe not great, but fun. Pretty much like you said.
We did that at GP Toronto, only 7 packs (3 rtr, M13, ISD, DKA, AVR) called a frankenstein draft. Fun random decks were built lol

True, but they are standing in the hall which makes sense. A charm is a trinket, IMO. The art doesn't show that.

I wonder what happened to the original art, a Dimir agent actually wearing a glowing charm.

Yeah, you beat me to it. I was going to post just that.
