My original list relegated the Scavenging Ooze to the Sideboard but I found that the ooze are just too useful in the current meta as well as being just an all around great creature. I went down to one Ghost Quarter in the Main and two in the side due to occasionally getting mana screwed by unfortunately drawing, I was probably pushing my luck to run a maximum of 5 colorless lands in a deck that often sides into a 4 color list. Razorverge Thicket came in to give me some mana options that wouldn't cost me life as the burn match up is often won or lost passed on how much life you cause yourself to lose in game 1. Speaking of Burn I added Kor Firewalker to the side to help sure up the match up as I was losing a lot even with Rhox War Monk in the main due to shocking and fetching to get him out when I didn't have a dork, the rhino has since been sent to the sideboard due to under performing in other match ups. Went up one Birds of Paradise to up my chances of having a dork in my openers and to help with casting Magus of the Moon in game 2 and 3. I think that my absolute favorite part of my current sideboard is running the Magus of the Moon. Most decks NEVER see it coming, often aggressively fetching their way into shocklands early to try to avoid falling victim to a flashed in Aven Mindcensor only to lose hard to this 2/2 blood moon which can be thrown into play at instant speed by a collected company. I've been winning a lot with this list as people often simply aren't prepared for our resilient and disruptive threats.
Hi all, I'm new here and I want to build a bant deck. I prefer the normal bant (elspeth, counterspells and blades), not the company bant. Wich list will be good for me? I haven't a super budget, but I already got some cards like:
This is currently my collected company list. I try to run disruptive creatures under three mana. Adding a hatebear suite to the mainboard has made the many poor matchups creature heavy decks face into easily winnable.
Because I'm not ready to drop Thalia, I'm gonna try to minimize the non-creature spells. Dromoka's Command does seem great out of the SB for certain matchups so I'm gonna look to add those. I will also add one Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit. It seems like a nice inclusion. It also has synergy with Kitchen Finks and the legendary lands. I also have a very high creature count of 29.
I also would strongly recommend Loxodon Smiter. I've had an incredible amount of success with him. He's an under-costed beater, his discard clause is great against Liliana of the Veil and Raven's Crime as well as targeted discard depending on the hand. More importantly though, if you are suspicious your opponent is holding up a remand they want to cycle on anything, run the uncounterable Loxodon Smiter out and let them waste their mana. He's able to simaltaneously shore up your Abzan/Jund, Twin, Control matchups. He's a must-include in my opinion.
I absolutely agree on the Loxodon Smiter, always a threat they can't get out of our hand with targeted discard or counter, he's only subject to straight up removal which Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and Voice of Resurgence make very difficult to deploy in a timely and cost effective manner.
I've been having great success with this list, I added a sort of tax element to the deck and found it really makes our creature focused strategy shine, making their removal more expensive and keeping them off their mana as well as often negating the downside of our path to exiles. Though Thalia can make collected company more expensive, it's often worth it to keep your opponent off their game and you pack enough ramp to reliably get the company out by turn 4 at the latest with a thalia in play anyway. I'm also experimenting with Dromoka's Command, it works well with exalted, adds some game against burn and splinter twin game one, and at worse it's decent removal.
