Jul 11, 2015Riomhairee posted a message on The Cranial Archive - Control in Today's Modern MetagameHumble opinion here: Big K deserves a place in Grixis's sideboard as a huge answer to long games, especially in control matchups. Turns your draw step into either pure CA or a Bolt, and can also burn them off Remand. Also, in the late game, devotion can turn him into an indestructible beater, but he dodges nearly all removal in the format by not being a creature most of the time.Posted in: cbgirardo

Interested to see what everyone else thinks about the addition.

Their symbol even has the right colors.
TL;DR name means computer in Irish, extra e because mergers.
Here's what I have so far:
4 Hymn to Tourach
4 Counterspell
4 Dark Ritual
1 Vesuva
1 Maze of Ith
1 Eladamri's Call
4 Lord of Atlantis
1 Aluren
4 Disenchant
1 Volcanic Island
1 Underground Sea
I've also got some other random cards like Gemstone Mine, Hypnotic Specter, Megrim, and stuff. Nothing fancy.
I like playing control, though I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of Miracles. I've been playing around with a couple Lands lists and I've tried out Shardless BUG, and I'm wondering what you suggest.
You could build a full-scale Dead Sea with this much salt.
Really, though, the problem with Eldrazi is more than you seem to be willing to admit. I've been able to play Angel Chord to reasonable effect against Eldrazi once, and that was only because I stuck an early Worship and stuck out eleven turns on one life over the course of games 2 and 3. I've played Affinity against Eldrazi, and Reality Smasher is very hard to deal with, barring a turn 2 Master of Etherium or a lucky infect kill off of a Voltron'd nexus. I've never managed to deal effectively with the UR variant with Affinity. I've played Deadguy Ale (yes, the modern one) against them and had a decent matchup, but proceeded to get absolutely demolished by pretty much everything else.
To put it simply, there's no place for Shops in Modern. Do I think that Smasher and Seer are plenty balanced cards? Yes, until you cast them so far ahead of the curve. A 4/4 that brings a Thoughtsieze with it on turn 2 with no card disadvantage (i.e. rituals) to power it out is not where we want to be with modern.
Tron hates this, because it plays 4 Spreading Seas and 4 Sea's Claim mainboard for devotion reasons.
Deck:
4 Omniscience
4 Enter the Infinite
Devotion Enablers
4 Leyline of Anticipation
4 Sea's Claim
4 Spreading Seas
2 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
Control
4 Remand
2 Negate
1 Dispel
4 Serum Visions
4 Halimar Depths
1 Sylvan Scrying
4 Sleight of Hand
Toolbox
3 Research // Development
2 Unexpected Results
Lands
4 Misty Rainforest
3 Breeding Pool
1 Forest
5 Island
1 Leyline of Singularity
1 Release the Ants
1 Eternal Witness
2 Snapback
1 Grafdigger's Cage
1 Nature's Claim
3 Propaganda
1 Thragtusk
1 Cyclonic Rift
1 Venser, Shaper Savant
2 Commandeer
Any ideas?
