@Soldier, The disconnect here might be that you're thinking about playing Vexing Devils on turn 3 while a lot of us are thinking about winning a match on turn 3.
seems more like a combo than burn or aggro. only 10 direct damage spells main. If mardu vehicles continues to be top tier, Harsh Mentor main would be pretty good. 4 shocks main to deal with Saheeli combo is also probably a good idea.
Vexing devil isnt that good. I dont see how giving an opponent the option to chose which is more convenient for them is really the best to advance our game plan. I think this has already been said but at best its a 4 damage spell on turn 1. However, most of the time an opponent is only gonna let it stay on the battlefield is because they have removal for it, theyre about to combo off and it doesnt matter or they have creatures to throw in front of it. If not for swiftspear Id rather have spark elemental if it came down to it tbh
They could do more Origins themed sets annually that dont have to be as flavorful as any block but more flavorful than core sets and can be where they print answers. We have plenty of planeswalkers out there that could have their own flipwalker card
All the fighting here on an optimal list and the disappointing performance of energy elephant made me take my stompy deck apart. Will this make stompy great again?
I'm thinkin about puttin 1 plateau in the main and 3 deflecting palm in my SB to help with all these decks cheating in big dudes on their first 2 turns. Bridge might be to slow. and otherwise I'm just gonna hope the reanimator guy cant get an Iona down before I can burn him up. Bridge still feels slow.
lots of Sneak & Show, Reanitmator and Lands decks in my meta right now. Whats the best way to beat these decks that are too good at cheating big dudes into play T1 or T2? Ensnaring Bridge isn't enough because of Iona, Shield of Emeria
no ensnaring bridge or gy hate in P. Sullivan sb. you think his plan to deal with reanimator and all the other decks that cheat big creatures into play was just burn and burn fast?
good to see the OG decklist putting up results still. I like evolutionary leap in the sideboard. Gonna try that over Hermit of the Natterknolls to get late game gas.
Im to a point where I've tested all these new cards (without splashing colors and playing bad zoo) and its not working out so well. Only idea I have left is to test a playset of groundswell in the place of aspect of hydra in this list where I added energy elephants, narnam renegades and 8 fetches. Devotion is lower and I think wwe have more chances to hit landfall with fetches. Otherwise I'm going back to the old list.
maybe the people who want to run fetches and take advantage of all these revolt cards should consider brewing their own modern revolt deck. Would love to see someone make the most of that mechanic. Maybe we will find ourselves all migrating to that deck if slash when it produces results. I think adding fetches is bad and fundamentally makes stompy fold even more to burn and other higher tier aggro decks. stompy is about efficient and resilient creatures and punchin loads of extra combat damage thru with instant speed pump spells.
even if u ignore the energy part this still has potential. 3 mana spent whenever u have it available over the course of however many turns. and definitely ways to power this out T1. Great synergy with Experiment One.
thoughts?

other less optimal options Ive been thinking about over the last few days include:
chain of vapor
chaos warp
stingscourger
