You can find a less rude way to not be rude then. Like perhaps asking questions about my stance on cards and the reasoning behind my statements instead of having your first comment include accusations of double standards and things like "says the guy who..." kinds of crap. If you want to know, ask.
That was my friendly way of asking. I just saw the "double standards" and thought you were up for a little challenge. Then used the freedom of speech. No hard feelings. Back to the topic.
I specificly said I didn't wanted to be rude, so I hope my comment was not received that way. And I get that he's an important figure in the cube community. I refer to him a lot myself. But that doesn't mean he couldn't be wrong sometimes. He did say the card has utility if you support the Persist combo, so I guess he approached the subject a little more than you suggest.
...but none of the other cards are good enough on their own. I don't think there's enough cards to make the deck consistent enough to overcome how parasitic all the enablers are.
Said the guy who advocated for Solemnity just a couple of hours ago. Don't want to be rude here, sincerly, but how those cards could be worse than Solemnity? Looks like clear double standards here. There's absolutly nothing parasitic in the package Saxe's suggested.
I really enjoy revisiting Limited formats and I found that weren't of discussions about more recent Limited formats. In fact, there's a lot of thread here and on Reddit about the ranking of Limited formats, but I noticed that most of them don't take the 2016+ ones into account. And I must say there were a bunch of really sweet sets since the past years. So I got the idea of ranking the Limited formats of sets that are legal un Pioneer in order to see how they compare to each other.
I propose you to rank (from A to F) all the Limited formats that you've tried, from RTR to THD, and give some details about what you like and dislike about them. Also, I invite you to name a non-Pioneer Limited format that was also an allstar for you and tell us how it compares to the ones in the Pioneer era. Don't forget to also provide it a grade. I know a lot of folks did love OG Innistrad, so maybe another one if possible. But if you really enjoy it, go for it.
On about 30 days from now, I'll compile the numbers and rank the formats to see what's actually the top 5 of the Pioneer era. I'll also sort the non-Pioneer ones and see what is the most popular one among them.
Note : If you are referring to a format, please described it as XXX/XXX/YYY or 3x XXX. For example, name the Kaladesh second draft format KLD/KLD/AER and the Dominaria format 3x DOM.
This helps Pod decks be more consistent if that's a thing for you; Pod was never good for us anyways. And this is slower, more fragile, and a lot harder to cast. If you love Pod in cube, this is a good card for you. But for me, it's not something I'm even remotely interested in.
I noticed that you've had this card and Pod to your cube again. Can you elabore on why they are good and what purposes do they serve exactly in your environment? Is it just for Kiki-Jiki and Melira combos? We removed them recently and Vannifar and Pod are underperforming a little since then. I was wondering maybe if we are missing something else.
That's what I meant. And I referred to GoST as well because Nightmare Shepherd gives him another life in order to swing for more damage. At the same tkme, I must wanted to point out that he can be fine even with creatures without ETB trigger. I mean, even creatures like Dark Confidant, Young Pyromancer or Scavenging Ooze seems sweet with it in some sense.
I see Nightmare Shepherd more like a build-around. If you play it with army-in-a-can dudes for example, since a huge part of their strenght comes from the tokens anyway, it seems really good. Weirdly, it also reminds me of Bramble Sovereign, which is a really sweet card and super powerful with small value guys!
Geist of Saint Traft, Ophiomancer, Eternal Witness and any version of 2-mana discard guys also seem like natural fits for the Nightmare as well, since they are cheap and full of none-stats value. Bone Shredder and Avalanche Riders seem absurd with it as well. And a sacoutlet makes that even better!
[quote from="Zetsu_Sensei »" url="/forums/the-game/the-cube-forum/cube-card-and-archetype/cube-new-card-discussion/815810-dryad-of-ilysian-grove?comment=9"]What's your cube environment? I have a 360 powered list and slots are pretty tight, but I still enjoy a couple of build arounds which aren't embarrassing, like wildfire, opposition, sneak attack and co. Does your lands.dec measure up well in terms of power and consistency?
Decks with tax stuff like Tangle Wire, Strip Mine, Rishadan Port, both Thalias, Crucible effects and a low curve could make a good use of it. Otherwise, I think it doesn't do enough unless your cube environment is oversatured with planeswalkers and every drafter is maindecking like 4+ of them.
And Wtwlf is right though, it really shines against in-hand, on-curve, planeswalkers.
I really really want the lands deck to be a thing in cube, it seems like sweet synergy. This/Oracle of Mul Daya/Fastbond as redundant effects, and Life from the Loam/Wrenn and Six/Crucible of Worlds/Ramunap Excavator seems like the tits.
This does very little outside of that deck, though.
We do support the deck and this new card seems crazy good in it. Can't beleive it's real. Last thing we had as similar was Wayward Swordtooth. The RIX Dino looks silly next to it.
Feels like this card has been nurfed a little by every angle possible. The result makes it an unplayable option for most powered cube. No evasion, lack in the recursion engine, the counter clause not being like the old-school phantom one... The fight ability is nice but the rest doesn't looks great.
Nice catch! It does seem very good with Brainstorm, as with Ancestral Recall. Cards like Chart a Course or Deep Analysis also looks pretty sharp with it in play, since you can turn 4-mana for 4-6 worth of stats + card advantag. This seems like a very nice way to use this new Kraken.
This card seems really good, but really fair. I don't think it's well suited for a full powered environment but some cubes might find a good spot for it. In fact, I think it's probably one of the best options for slow unpowered cube that feature a lot of midrange matchups since it generates so much value and can also win the game on its own. Also, it provides blue core a nice source of fodders to furfilled a bunch of different matters. Go-wide strategy enabler, tokens source for Opposition-Clamp, chup-blocker generator, sac-fodder for UR and UB decks and so much more. Even the counters theme decks, with Evo-Sage and Flux Channeler, would like it.
Overall, I really like it for fair cubes, but I presume it wouldn't crack the most unfair ones.

I think that if you are running those cards, you probably just want to add this new one to the lot. It's not really a matter of how it replaces them.
The lands.dec is awesome on our environment. It can compete with the rest of regular power stuff and even with agressive decks. It does feature some spicy cards that almost nobody runs though. You can take a lot by yourself on CT : https://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/12370;jsessionid=E2944633FBB675640FD08E463B26ED02

How this card ramping you the turn you play it. I don't get it. The beginning of precombat mainphase is already long gone when you cast it, no?
