Agreed with Jeskai coming up again. We just need to stock our sideboards with graveyard hate and Tron hate to be on the map. At least 4-5 graveyard hate and 3 cards against Tron in the sideboard has done me wonders so far.
Do you guys find room for 2 Narset, Parter of Veils and 2 Teferi, Time Raveler ? I don't find room for the later. 2 Narset, Parter of Veils could replace my Search for Azcanta, but unfortunately I think I would need to cut Teferi Hero of Dominaria to make room for Teferi, Time Raveler. Thoughts ?
4 Sunbaked Canyon works wonders. 20 lands : 1 Ring, 4 fetches, 4 Canyon and 11 Mountains is my take and I'm not looking back. The card draw fron Canyon is amazing.
I like the flexibility of Azcanta : coming on turn 2, scrying to have smoother draws (finding lands) and multiple activations when you have 7 cards in the graveyard. However, you could simply replace the 2 Azcanta for Narset in the list and that would be good too
I've cut down Esper Charm to 0 in favor of 2 Force of Negation and 2 Kaya's Guile. I will need more testing to see if it's the right thing, but so far, it's not bad.
I'd say 2 shocks and 3 basics I'd even go 3 vantage and 4 mountains too personally. With 6 fetches, 2 shocks, 3 vantage and 4 canyons, that's still way more than enough white sources personally. I'd even go up on fetches if you're running grim and blazes but that's me. Lol. I run 8 fetches, 2 shocks, and 2 cliffs and have no issues getting black in 19 lands but again... That's me. I'm waiting on the price to settle as well. Thoughts on the new red leyline for the mirror? leyline of combustion
The new red leyline seems interesting, but narrow. To me, the Burn mirror comes down to Skullcrack on their Helix and landing Firewalker.
It's what I'm running with great success lately X-3 at Montreal Open. 4-0 last FNM. The deck is very flexible : to make room for planeswalker if needed, it's possible to cut 1 Helix and 1 Clique and then you have room for 2 little Teferi or Narset. The sideboard is geared toward beating Tron, Dredge, combo, etc.
I've been back on UW Control for another stint, leaving Jeskai. This time, I'm wonderfully suprised how good the deck is. I'm 6-2 in my 8 last matches and I feel very comfortable with the deck. Midrange seems 50/50 and Burn is tough, but aside that, I feel good agasint combo, aggro and the mirror also.
Little Teferi has been very good in control matchups, but in other matchups average. What are your thoughts guys on him ? Do you prefer Narset ? Or do you play something else ?
From a UW/x player perspective, I'm looking at the below and I think :
- Prohibit : nothing to play with.
- Flusterstorm : could be 1 sideboard slot.
- Force of Negation : could be 1 sideboard slot. It's really restrictive and I haven't had any issues against Humans, Tron, BG/x to land my planeswalkers and protecting them. I'm not sure I want more than 2 ever (1 main and 1 side at best). It wont define the format as much as the canopy cycle that is printed in the set. It will be good sometimes, but mostly support cast (especially with the new planeswalkers).
From a Burn player perspective :
- 4 Sunbaked Canyon all the way. We need this so bad
From a Scapeshift player point of view :
- NOTHING.
