Quick question guys : any reasons why the miracle package seems to have fallen out of flavor ? Is it because of the new planeswalkers that people are toying with ?
Guess Terminus has been the best choice to deal with bant spirits being tier 1. Against shadow amulet humans field Verdict is much better.
I think 8 fetches and 3 mountains are a good starting point for grim and blaze. From there, I'd think 2 Foundry, 2 Vantage, and 4 Canyon rounds it out nicely. I'm not opposed to 3 and 3 for vantage and canyon, but I'd lean towards 4 Canyon.
I will probably settle on 8 fetchlands, 3 Inspiring Vantage, 3 Sunbaked Canyon, 2 Mountain, 2 Sacred Foundry and 1 Stomping Ground. Seems good at the moment, but I'd like to do some maths about it.

Sunbaked Canyon feels more than welcome. I'll run 3 of those and I'll be glad to have a natural source of card draw in the deck. It will be very effective for us! Rejoice!
I guess I'll run 1 in the sideboard, maybe 1 in the main. I don't see what to cut : 2 Spell Snare, 2 Logic Knot, 4 Cryptic Command. This feels stock and FoF serves another purpose than those regular counterspell. We'll see what testing tells us.
Never seen such a good week-end for Esper control : Zach Allen runner-up in the Open and Sean Mogelgaard ending making quarter-finals in the Classic ! Aside Kaya, Orzhov Usurper, the lists look well-tuned to beat graveyard based decks. I'm running a very similar list and it feels great.
I think Negate's flexibility will prevail over the perks of having a non-counterable spell. Sure, Dovin's new spell is good, but I feel that Negate shines against combo based deck and most of them don't often run counterspell (Ad Nauseam has Pact of Negation...).
@ Bearscape : interesting list. Against which creature do you feel Nahiri's exile ability is the most relevant ?
Agreed with Bearscape :
- Talisman of Progress should be something else.
- More fetches. Good that you're grabing Scalding Tarn.
- 2 Anger in the sideboard might be replaced by a quick clock (Geist or Clique).
So I voted ''Indifferent, I just play the format whatever it is''. But I'd like to see Phoenix and Hollow decks going away. Twin was the best dominant deck when it was played. After, GDS was a good top contender, but not a tier-zero deck. Right now, graveyard decks are too prevalent to my taste. Just my two cents.
What do you guys think would be the decks in which Baleful Strix would be a great fit ? I think it would give legs to Sultai, UB Control, maybe Esper Control also. It would consolidate Grixis Death's Shadow maybe. Thoughts ?
I trust you, I don't have munch of a sample size (11 games).
@Bearscape : once Tron settles down, we will rise up again I guess.
Agreed, but then what about Phoenix and Dredge ?

Bad matchups:
- Tron
- Amulet
- Dredge
Average:
- Death's Shadow
- Burn
- Phoenix
Good:
- Humans
- Affinity / Scales
- Infect
- Azorius Control
The deck shouldn't be in such a bad shape...
I haven't seen Nassif stream, is there a link ?
Cheers !
